Hey girl! I'm a current medical student & I just wanted to say based on my knowledge so far, since your new growth is growing out thick and healthy, it likely means your hair follicles are functioning well and probably unlikely to be a systemic health-related issue (like iron or vit D deficiency), as you would likely see that kind of damage/thinning starting from the roots. Definitely still get in to see your doctor for your upcoming appointment for blood work to fully get worked up and make sure nothing is going on, but as someone with mixed hair who used to have really damaged and thinning hair from heat damage and seeing my mother getting relaxer her whole life until recently because of the same issue, its probably your hair starting to not take relaxer very well and breaking/thinning off just from simply aging or dietary changes that make your hair more susceptible to damage from things like chemical relaxer that you may have once never had trouble with before(like when someone uses too strong of bleach for their hair and it begins breaking). I'm glad you are letting your hair breathe for a little, it may be the best thing for it right now, but I would highly suggest that you might look at adjusting the strengths/time relaxer is in your hair when you get them in the future to keep the integrity of your new growth and prevent your hair from breaking. I'm sorry that you're going through this super frustrating process ❤ Hoping a speedy and healthy hair recovery for you!

Hey 👋🏾 VERY interesting! Thank you for your advice especially based on the fact that you are a medical student. I haven’t thought that maybe my hair just wouldn’t be reacting to it the way it used to. It’s just that the timing of it all was so strange. It just happened so suddenly I feel. Good advice changing the time of the relaxer being put on. Didn’t think about that. Thank you for telling me about your mom as well. And that you for your understanding and not bashing me for being relaxed ☺️ Thank you for coming at me with such grace and insight. I really appreciate it! Yes this is soooo frustrating…but we’ll see what happens! Please keep watching and letting me know what you think! 💕Dani

@@naturallyrelaxed3 Ofc queen, def still see your doctor! I also do not believe in 'bashing' people for choosing to do things that they love/are most comfortable with, you are living your best life and can choose how you want to style your hair, as you should! Don't let anyone on the internet ever try to tell you different because they aren't living your life! Wishing the best for your hair health journey, I'll definitely stay tuned on your videos!

Danii I know you are having a hard time but don't worry about it. I was in exactly the same position. My diagnosis was, I was dangerously low in iron and vitamin D, so much hair would come out when I combed and washed it it was horrible. I take a multivitamin now with extra vitamin D. I use a bond builder before I shampoo. I wash my hair every week and alternate between a repair shampoo and moisturising shampoo and I deep condition. I never leave my hair wet, as when it is wet it's in its in its weakest state, I blow dry on medium heat. Guess what everything has reversed my hair has thickened up, the hair fall has ceased. Once you get you're diagnosis everything will turn around so be strong. You should consider trying k18 I've heard great things about it. I nearly forgot to mention I have increased my egg intake, I eat two a day.

Hey 👋🏾 Eggs huh 🤔 It’s so cray cuz I just started making an egg and spinach burrito for breakfast almost everyday after my workout!! So good to know. And I’ve always wondered about K18 but I bread that Redken was better. So when I run out of the Redken, I’ll get a little size to test it out. I’m sure it will be in a video lol. Thank you so letting me know how this all went for you. It’s so nice knowing that I’m not alone and that this isn’t the END, you know? I’m glad that I’m able to document this, just in case someone goes through what I’m going through right now. Them vitamin deficiency’s ain’t no joke huh?!!! Thank you for always rockin with me. @@naturallyrelaxed3 Eggs and spinach are great protein and iron. You just need to incorporate some sulfur (onions and garlic). I can't remember if your family are from the Carribbean if they are they can recommend you to a good Irish moss (you can add to smoothies or soup) and sorrel (drink the sorrel as a tea). You'll get there, everyone is sending their good wishes to you. I think the redken acidic bond is a good range.

I kinda low key didn't think you would like not having a fresh relaxer, but I want to support you no matter. If it's not working for you, don't force yourself because sometimes that can cause more stress on you by not even wanting to deal with it. I felt your pain during the detangle and wash day of it all. When I used to stretch sometimes for 6 months, there was always a point that I would get to and hate. I don't stretch that long anymore, but what helped me was after the 16 week mark I would keep my hair stretched by blow drying it because my new growth would tangle no matter how well I moisturized and oiled, etc. Plus, I think it's easier on the scalp. I know you'll get it figured out. Keep your head up, sis. Btw, I just started using the new living proof scalp care density serum. I got it with ulta points cause it was high, lol. I hear really good things about it, and it has great reviews, but I'll let you know how i like it. 💜

Hey sis!! 👋🏾 Thank you for always keeping us posted with your journey. Yes girl, I love the feel of a fresh relaxer. I have never tried blow dyeing my roots but that’s what I was told to do, to activate the treatment again. I am just so over it that I don’t even care about that anymore. Between sweating everyday from work and working out…I just don’t see the point of it’s going to revert anyways. And that so crazy that you were able to make it up to 6 months!! Wow! Incredible! PLEASE let us know how that product works for you. I’ve heard great things as well but like you said..the prices be really pricing out here 😂 See you soon! And thank you for always being so supportive! 💕Dani

@naturallyrelaxed3 True. I agree that it would be pointless if you're just gonna sweat it out. That actually reminds me of a stylist here on KZbin I watch named Toya, and she has a haircare line called By L. Jones. She has a product called sweat control elixir that's supposed to keep your roots from sweating out while also being light enough to not weigh your hair down. I've never tried it, but it has excellent reviews. I'll definitely keep you posted on the scalp serum. 💜

I just discovered your channel about 30 minutes ago while searching for bhringraj hair treatments, and it led me to your review of a Curly Proverbs mask. I watched your Keratin treatment/salon video and was so annoyed by how they seemed to push you into getting the KT. Some people have such a negative opinion of relaxers that anytime someone with a relaxer has a hair issue, that’s the first thing they blame. They then start telling you what they really think about you relaxing your hair (e.g., it's old-fashioned, etc.). I’ve had long natural, relaxed, texlaxed, and keratin-treated hair. There are challenges with each, and I’ve settled on being relaxed because it’s the most convenient for me. My relaxed hair is thick and MBL. If something goes wrong, I don’t blame the chemical itself; it’s almost always user error. I would caution you about continuing to see a stylist who doesn’t respect your hair choices and doesn’t understand your process (e.g., her comments about how if you stretch your relaxers, you might as well not get them. 🤦🏽‍♀️). Regarding your hair: I’m interested in hearing what your bloodwork shows because your new growth is coming in nice and thick. This leads me to believe it’s something external (which is a good thing! Easier to control). It really seems to me that your hair has been over-processed. I would recommend some consistent protein and bonding treatments and stop relaxing your hair so straight. Leaving some texture when relaxing helps preserve thickness and adds protection if you accidentally overlap. Sorry for the long message, but I’m invested now. 😂 I wish you so much luck in figuring this all out. I know what it’s like to be at a loss when it comes to your hair, but clarity will come. 💜

Aww!!! So glad that you were able to find us! That’s what’s up! Thank you so much for your caring concern! I feel what you’re saying. I’m high key thinking about just doing my relaxers myself once I figure out if I’m deficient in anything. And going to texlaxes would be a great idea actually 🤔 never thought about that… So interesting that you have had success in having your hair in all those different ways. It’s good to know from someone who had done it all basically. I have only had relaxed hair my whole life so all this is new to me. Being natural makes me nervous and I really like my relaxed hair…being texlaxed is a nice medium. Really good idea. Thank you so much for all your input and suggestions. I really appreciate it. I’m here for long messages! The more info I get the better, especially if it’s from someone who knows what they’re talking about 😂 Yes…please stay tuned and see what happens. It’s gonna be interesting…Im just trying to stay positive!!! 😓😫🥰 See you soon!!!! 💕Dani

Girl ,when was the last time you had a protein treatment ? Not just a reconstructor but a strong one cuz that can help. Yes shedding comes from the roots but sometimes after chemical services the hair can become a bit weak at the root and applying a protein treatment close to the scalp can fix that and stop the shedding. That happened to me last year and i just did one treatment using the ors hair mayonnaise and the shedding has stop drastically .

Hi, hope all is well! So sorry to hear about your hair situation! I’ve been watching your videos and it’s really helpful you are sharing your experiences! I would like to ask or maybe you had already addressed this in another video (I don’t mean any offense)… Why did you stop going to All Dolled Up salon with April? I noticed when you were there April did your hair great and healthy relaxing process! When you stopped going, did your relaxer(self relaxer with twisting) and went to another salon is when I noticed the difference into setbacks started. I don’t mean any harm, it’s just an observation. Also, for me I noticed after 2020 Mizani and Design Essentials lye professional relaxers started to SHED out my hair!!! I had a tub of Design Essentials relaxer and it ATE through the tub jar!!! I haven’t relaxed for a year and my shedding has ceased. I want to relax in June and have been wandering to go back to no lye relaxer since I see other KZbinrs successful results with a box relaxer. I also noticed professional stylists on KZbin have abandoned the professional relaxer Mizani and Design Essentials for more natural styling options.

Hey 👋🏾 Yeah I stopped going cuz at the time I couldn’t afford it. But then I was still doing my own relaxer before I was going to her and I feel like that when my hair was THICK and SHINY. That’s the best my hair looked in my opinion, before I let anyone else do it. I just want to try something new and I never felt that losing my hair would be an issue that I would have to deal with. My hair had been thick through my whole journey so the only thing I was focusing on was retaining length. But I see where you’re coming from. So glad that you have looked in the past and seen the difference. Thank you for that. And if-and when- I do go back to relaxers…I do need to look into which ones to go back to that would be the best. Thank you for letting me know about Mizani too..I’m just so confused! There so much information out there 😫😫😫 💕Dani

Same girl same!! I don't think it will take you nearly as long to recoup most of that length. You are at a fresh start. You will have done your blood work and determined your regimen. I would suggest not doing any chemicals until after results of blood work. I think it is wise to have a decent time frame between processes so no chemical overlap. Finger comb FIRST to rectangle then use same wide tooth comb working bottom up to detangle. Use products you know work via your videos. No more experimenting with products. . I'd like you to, for yourself research keratin treatments vs relaxers, I'd like to see you return to relaxers which you have already had success with in your journey. 😊 Try wet wraps and then utilize Dolce's method for trims and protective styles. Sleep in a satin scarf or cap. Most importantly let's just try to focus on OUR current journey and celebrate our success along the way. We have been here before and can do it again!! 😊♥️ sing along with me Fat Joe's song "Nothing can stop me! I'm all the way up!!! " 😊

You may be waiting too long for a touch up. I’m not a professional but do your research on how the relaxed hair meets the point of the (new growth) natural hair. It will start to break where they meet, that’s why and where your hair is thinning. And that why your roots are not thinning. Some can stretch longer some can’t. God bless you and your journey ❤
