18:20 The Haunted Cathedral... Then, in 1999, I just couldn't cope with this tеrrоr. A year. Thief 2 came out, I completed it, and only then I was able to finish Thief 1. What a density of atmosphere!

Haha, I completely get it. It was weird making this video because I had to replay much of it with modern day specs. Man, the sound of a haunt with my expensive stereo headset scared me even more. You know it was lightning in a bottle when it can still get you even today haha

@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE by the way, not only does the Sewer Collector from Outlast (last room) come to mind, but also Marine campaign from AvP'99, X-labs and Dark nights from Stalker, Quarantine zones and Nights from DL1, Jotunheim from Apsulov, and the Fortress from Amnesia Rebirth... ... if we don't count Shalebridge Cradle, of course.

@@gregsmith7541 my dude, thank you very much. I remember it took me weeks to make this as I was new to editing and I played the whole game again just to get footage haha! I played this game in 98 and still it has left its mark on me. Oh and yes, a few more views would be nice. I'm still trying to figure out KZbin's algorithm 😞

As a goth (I know, I broke the rule by calling myself goth) I don't think Thief is goth It really is steam punk, or dark fantasy

Its super Dark Fantasy. I do think there are goth elements like the literal gothic architecture of the cathedral or the industrial music .

@@casualcadaver probably what made the levels so spooky was also to do with the fear of god that the architecture in reality was designed to do, evoke fear in the populace and keep them in line 😧
