Ten dollars could have prevented the loss of his tools. Harbor freight sells a $10 driveway motion detector alarm. Put the sensor and receiver in your vehicle (where it won't pick up passers by) so that when the doors open, the alarm sounds. Great for front and back doors to your home too.

@@_DB.COOPER They took their time because they could. A loud AF alarm will commonly send thieves packing because they don't want any attention.. it has a chance of alerting people nearby, including a passing cop. Thieves want to slip in quietly and take what they want uncontested.
