Kim saying she works hard to look how she does is hilarious. She works hard at recovery from all her surgery maybe.

Genuinely wonder in what shape her heart and vascular system are gonna be when she hits 50. Doubt they're gonna look as pretty as her skin does. She'll pay to keep 'em well, but there's no undoing what time does, and there's only so much you can do. Bet she'll wish she can go back in time and actually work out.

I am just so happy that this is being addressed by a lot of women here on YT, yourself included. In the 90s and 2000s, there was no social media, you'd have to be on a talk show or talk to a reporter in order for anyone to say anything positive or negative about anything. This was a problem back in the day and we all knew it, but because it just kept getting pushed and pushed and pushed and no one had a platform to say anything, it was harder to speak up and to fight it. We cancel people for so much less, and yeah I agree when people say that social media has pushed some toxic behaviors and popularized them as well, but this is where we can actually see it be used for good. I am also happy that everyone is talking about it, that way no bullies get to say crap like "Oh you're just angry cuz your fat, you just want to be lazy, and you want to keep binging that food". It's really different when many people of all shapes, colors, and sizes are talking about it. This way the pushback against it is aggressive, and the hope of seeing those businesses that want to dictate trends regarding body image face consequences (Financial) is kept alive and well.

Ugly Betty is the american version of the wonderful, magnificent, incredible Colombian soup opera Yo Soy Betty La Fea. I agree with you in many points but I totally recommend you watching the original one because the way Betty brought Body Positivity, different beauty standards, black appreciation and showed how eating disorders, fashion world and classism affected women in early 00s... is just wonderful. I have watched it at least 7 times and it gives me empowerment.

Amazing, thank you! I loved the original (minus the problematic parts) so great to know that the original version is not that way! Will have to check it out ❤️

Truth time. Thin will ALWAYS be in. Certain cultures visually like more valuptuous curves but that is a minority. You are so right. Women need to stop being a commodity.

I don’t give a fuck about the surgeries and other stuff. But the ozempic thing is unacceptable. My grandfather passed away due to complications from diabetes(not insulin level or blood sugar, but because of other symptoms. There are many who need this medications and they’re put on wait lists or aren’t insured/covered and can’t get them. Taking a recourse away that can SAVE A LIFE. Is just evil. Luckily my grandpa took his medicine regularly, but if he didn’t have access to them, he could’ve passed away earlier, not even getting to see his grandchildren grow up, even if just for a little bit

I agree with you 💯 percent. This is disgusting! How mostly the rich are abusing this diabetic medicine for weight. And the doctors for prescribing it. They are lining their pockets with $10,000 of dollars from the Kardashians Jenners and others.

Wow I so appreciate how you can find SOME grace for the kardashians (I can’t). They are literally doing the same harm that THEY experienced to other young girls and women by promoting these disgusting unhealthy beauty standards. Very good points about how they hold so much influence in society that you cannot get away from their image. Enjoyed this video!

thank u for addressing this... the Kardashians are such a bad example for real women and girls in society. I have stopped looking at most of these women online, because it's so unnecessary and toxic for the spirit.

this is so true. I was not skinny and also not fat. but a teenage boy fatshamed be by calling me "fat" as a bad word. Unconsciously I internalised it 😢😢 for so many years. I'm still working on it so I view myself as my own eyes not theirs

I know Ozempic too well I take it for weight loss. It's not for everyone and should not be prescribed to just anyone. But yeah the problem with being fat versus skinny is something that society is still needing time to fully work out.

I had this conversation with my boyfriend, recently and he was so nice and kind 2 me. He accepts me as I am, and I am not skinny, nor am I big. I remember reading a column when I was a teen, which stated that women ultimately do the extreme weight-loss thing and glare at one another for approval... it's a woman-to-woman thing, more than a male gaze situation. Ugh.
@pen91un
@pen91un Жыл бұрын
I'm so happy to hear you have a boyfriend who makes you feel good about yourself. Validation from my partner has helped me feel better about my body as well. I also know what you mean about women sometimes seeming to be the harsher critics of other women's appearances. That said, I would caution against blaming women solely for beauty standards. Women enforcing beauty standards on each other is a function of the patriarchy, so the male gaze is very much a part of it. Women are viewing each other through the heterosexual male gaze.

I am not buying it. Done. Not a model not a sex worker not a product so do not have to be beautiful. To who? Men? Married women have just one who loved them whatever. And is enough. We are real women who fights inflation go to work pay bills. Not a teenager to be skinny we are women, we have a real body for real life. I agree girl ı do not either to see kardashian but they force us to see them. Is forced on us. They are not what ı look up on, ı prefer real modest women with succesful families...

you had me until you started bashing thin ppl i use to be very thin naturally and my sister is as well and we ate like they where fattening us up for thanksgiving and we were/are not unhealthy at all. you had a lot of good points but, the correlation between your body size and your health are not directly relative to one another. I feel it’s more so what your doing to get there and sometimes what your own body is doing to get there.(like thyroids)
@ashleyaviola
@ashleyaviola Жыл бұрын
Hi, I was not bashing thin people. I was stating that being too thin can be just as dangerous as being “too fat” due to the number of health risks associated with being too thin, but many people do not care about the dangerous measures that some people take to achieve thinness so long as attractiveness is the end result. The point of this video was not to shame people who are naturally thin but to point out why making thinness the ultimate beauty standard leads to those who are not naturally thin (the vast majority of women) seeking out unhealthy dangerous methods to achieve this beauty standard. Critiquing is not bashing, especially when the group you’re critiquing is incredibly privileged and the beauty ideal. Thank you for watching!

Beauty standards are not mostly held up by men, they are mostly held up by women. Men are super forgiving and appreciative about “average looking women” where as women are extremely judgmental and picky about features etc
@ashleyaviola
@ashleyaviola Жыл бұрын
I agree that many women have internalized beauty ideals that have been deemed to be palatable for the male gaze and project it onto other women. Most men, if given the choice between dating someone who looks like Kim K or dating someone who is a size 14 (the average women’s size in the U.S) or up would go for a Kim K type, particularly White men. Even men who are “average” or even below average on the male beauty scale can still couple with above average looking women, because women are actually less picky about looks and tend to be more concerned with the financial status of a man due to the internalized patriarchal belief that men are supposed to be providers. Conversely patriarchal beliefs ingrain in men that women are to be looked at as viable sexual partners. Many men also seek to elevate their own social status by obtaining a “hot wife” or “hot girlfriend” so men often choose women who are closer to thinness due to the politics of desirability.

beauty standards are created and mostly held up by man,so is this patriarchy,of course women also internalize this bs to various level but you're not gonna convince women to fight each other and take the finger off of our actual oppressor.

i have no doubt these ladies are taking ozempic (unnecessarily might i add, diabetics legitimately need them but they are now in low stocks) but i think it's sort of ridiculous to say that they got gastric bypass, i highly doubt people would chop off half their stomachs, live through the lifelong side effects and recovery process of chopping off said stomach, just to lose 16lbs. like, c'mon haha. no hate but i very much doubt she would even get a surgeon immoral enough to perform a gastric bypass on someone that doesnt need it, gastric bypasses are normally the LAST RESORT surgery for morbidly obese patients.
