I call this the “metal” Thin Lizzy. It’s great like their other style of works. Lemmy from Motörhead and Phil Lynott were close buddies. Lemmy was asked if there is anyone he would like to bring back who has passed, he answered Phil Lynott. 🎸🖤

Hello from Dublin, Ireland. Brilliant track, but sure all Lizzy tracks are Ace. I was only talking to Brian Downey(drummer Thin Lizzy) last night in the studio, he has a Lizzy tribute band back on the road (Europe tour coming soon) Brian is in his 70s and still ROCKING. he is one of the best drummers to come out of Ireland and listening to him last night he is still the best drummers out there. Had the pleasure of knowing Phillo back in the day, a brilliant guy and A ROCK ICON. KEEP ROCKING EVERYONE 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Brian's band is called Alive and Dangerous, and their set is basically the Live And Dangerous album. He's put a good team together. The lead singer is good, and (most importantly) focusses on the vocals and not his own image, respectful of both Phil's memory and the man at the back. Saw them in Cork, was great, the young people don't know what they missed that night, the crowd of older folks loved every minute.

Guitarist John Sykes co-wrote this song (playing the guitar solo) and played on and co-wrote songs on a couple of Whitesnake albums later in the 1980s.

His stuff with tygers of pan tang and blue murder great too. Only problem for me is whitesnake s/t album and thin lizzy thunder and lightnings production was a bit harsh on the ears especially the whitesnake one if that was produced by someone else well who knows.

John Sykes is one of my favorite guitarists. He also cowrote many Whitesnake hits. He rips a great solo on this song. I saw TL live in a club in Billings MT. Phil had already passed away, so John sang the songs. I stood 5' away while he ripped through the whole set. Scott Gorham on guitar. The great Tommy Aldridge on drums. Marco Mendoza on bass. I was standing by two local professional guitarists. They stared at Sykes and Gorham the whole show and shook their heads in amazement. One of the best shows I have ever seen. You really need to check out the actual live video of this song from the 1983 tour. Phil's bass tone is in your face and along with his percussive picking style, he really drives the songs.

The great John Sykes on guitar. He also was a driving force in Whitesnake in the 80s. Thin Lizzy was a great band But, really never got the pub they should have. The lack of radio hits with the exception of Jailbreak and Boys are back in town only created a cult following in the late 70s and early 80s. It's still one of the most underrated bands to this day. With the passing of Phil Lynott, the band lost it's sting. Althought valiant efforts to revieve the band with a couple of original members, But it just wasn't the same. I really enjoy your reactions . You really should check out John Sykes band Blue Murder with Carman Appice and Tony Franklin. Not only the killer guitar work, But, John's vocals are second to none. One of the legendary guitar solos on the Whitesnake Whitesnake album " Cryin in the Rain" is a testament to this gifted player. BTW, Keep it going with THE WOLF HUNTERZ. Interesting new genre of metal. Nice work. Thanks for your time.

One of several reasons why Lizzy just didn't break big in the USA was their record label was shockingly bad. They were signed to Mercury in the US (Vertigo in the UK) and their best LP's weren't pushed at all by Mercury. It wasn't until the band was switched to Warner for the Black Rose LP that they started to climb high in the charts but sadly it was too late. They'd already peaked and their next couple of records sunk without trace. But in their prime, they always had great songs and they toured relentlessly. There's only so much a band can do without record label support.

John Sykes on lead guitar. He came from Tygers of Pan Tang to Thin Lizzy. Later played with Whitesnake and Blue Murder. Also singing in post Phil Lynott Thin Lizzy in the late eighties Early 90's. Released some solo albums but hasn't released anything since 2004. Should ve working on new material. But he also said that in 2013 😄

@TheTruth-pl3mk

Definitely their heaviest album and their best of the 1980's. But I'd rank it below several of their 1970's LP's, as the level of songwriting isn't as strong as it used to be. They have better songs on Jailbreak, Bad Reputation, Johnny the Fox and Black Rose, to name a few. But Thunder and Lightning is a great work and a fantastic swansong. How many rock bands can say that their career ended on such a good album? Many bands go out with a whimper...

Phil Lynott was a poet who could write the best radio friendly rock song in The Boys Are Back In Town and then absolutely kick ass with Thin Lizzy's metal album Thunder and Lightening from which this track is taken. Check out Sha La La from their Live and Dangerous album for an amazing drum solo.

Off Lizzy's last album "Thunder and Lightning", released on March 4th, 1983. The only album of theirs that guitarist John Sykes played on. Sykes also played for the bands Tygers of Pan Tang (1980-1982), John Sloman's Badlands (1982), Whitesnake (1983-1987), and Blue Murder (1988-1994).
