Another unused Lizzy track that was recorded at Goodearth Studio on 2/1/1978. This one ended up on Gary Moore's solo album "Back on the Streets". This version, however, is sung by Lynott, rather than Moore.

I don't mind Bob Geldof, but I do slag Bono quite a bit. Perhaps he's a nice guy, but I find him idiotic when he criticizes people (whether it be in his music or the press) for not giving enough, when he has about 5 houses, a private jet, and whatever else he has. If he's so concerned, why doesn't he just pull a Peter Green and give up music and devote his life to the poor? I can't complain too much though; Lynott is the one with the statue...not Bono.

You are right, I had already seen it mentioned someplace else on the internet that "With Love" came from this song, but good ears... ;)

Yeah, this September a new live Lizzy CD is coming out. I think it's actually called "UK Tour 75", but it's Lizzy's show at Derby University on 11/21/1975. Part of it was bonus material on the L&D DVD anniversary release. The whole show is going to be on this disc, including an early version of "Cowboy Song". As far as not liking the L&D era (77-78)...part of it is the set list. There's a lot of songs that I don't particularly care for from that period. 74-76, 79, and 83 are my favorite eras.

Wow, Lizzy is just an endless well - I'd be down to remaster this stuff from whatever's left. I did a job on an old Hendrix live track that got a lot of views before the estate forced it down.

No problem with that at all. I wouldn't expect many people to agree. I've just noticed when I listen to bootlegs that I have of Lizzy, I tend to listen to about everything except ones from around the "Live and Dangerous" era. I'm not sure if it's the set list or the fact that live album has ruined the experience for me, but I struggle getting through those. I love Robertson's stuff around '75, and I'm looking forward to the official release of Derby '75 in September. Should be a great disc.

Uncharacteristically awful lyrics !?!? "Oooohhh poor Romeo, sittin' all on his owneo" What balls he had ! Phil fully emraced and was the king of CHEESE. Shut up and and enjoy you little critic you. I like the Bono comment too.

I can see why this one wasn't used to be honest - clunky song with uncharacteristically awful lyrics. But at least part of it was salvageable for another Lizzy song; With Love.

I've always liked Sykes, but that's probably because I'm more of a metalhead. I'll be honest. The player I like least is Brian Robertson. He's good, but there's too much wah-wah pedal. I know it's his distinctive sound and all that, but other than the pedal, his playing isn't that exciting or original. It's just blues scales. Moore, Sykes, Snowy White, Gorham, and Eric Bell were all better players than he was. Lizzy fans might think that's sacriledge, but its true.

I guess I'm a bit late to answer ;-), but for me Sykes + Gorham was THE killer duo in TL. Phil Lynott was able to push Sykes' playing which has always been a bit too much of the diddly-widdly whizz kid style (IMHO) into the right direction and turn it into something good (see e.g. Cold Sweat) and Gorham got a second "kick in the ass" (after the first one by Moore) to adapt his playing to the more metal edge style of those days. So it was a win-win situation. I think Gorham's playing today is too much wah-wah, too much vibrato, to much stop-and-go and too few explosive - but he's an elder guitarman now ;-)
