I did my locs myself and I have a ton of imperfections. Sometimes I just wanna start my grid over but I learned to give myself grace bc I get so many compliments. We are harder on ourselves than others. Your locs are beautiful and u are too.

To what I'm learning from professional loctician experts, starting off with 2 strand twists and braids are what causes these problems because once the reties take place and start to loc up, they will be a different size or wont loc up fully, create budding at the ends etc. verses your inital starter twists/braid. That's why its best to start off on interlocked hair for the initial installment to get a uniformed loc from top to bottom. Also, to use a 4 point rotation turn to strengthen the locs, over 2 or 3 point turns (stronger base and less chance of losing a loc). Sometimes paying less does not equal the end results in yrs to come. I have not installed yet but getting as much info for when I'm ready to go. Hope this helps anyone looking to get locs.

I totally agree with you saying we all have our imperfections with our locs. I have soft but very thick hair so my reties never look freshly done😒 However, I am 2yrs in and have grown to love my locs. You were/are one of my micro loc inspirations and your hair is beautiful ❤️

OMG Kendra. I do not notice any imperfections with your hair even after you pointed them out. Noone would be able to tell but you. I have been guilty of pointing out imperfections with my locs that nobody sees but me. What's funny is that I hate that my ends loc up and I trim them every 3 months or so in order that they can remain open. I also like keeping my hair layered. Thanks for sharing.

I even made an appt. to get a trim thinking that will help in the process of locking up but maybe not….oh well I’ll still get them trimmed and see lol. I absolutely love your videos. Thanks for sharing. I just hit my 1 year. I started with 730 locs, now I have 406. Although they’re still full I want them to be fuller in certain sections. This is a insecurity of mine, because I want the fuller look down the line. My front rows aren’t the strongest which is another insecurity. But my plans are to continue to trust the process.

After watching this im going to inspect my locs more closely when i get hime this evening. I'm a little disappointed to heae its been 4yrs and your ends havent sealed because I have the same issue and after 2yrs I've been holding out hope that they would seal soon. Your locs are gorgeous when I did hair I still am a licensed cosmetologist because I love the health benefits of the hair I would tell my loc clients if possible rotate the side of the head they sleep on because whichever side they slept on the most would get less oxygen and be much thinner than the other side so that helps sometimes as well.

Your absolutely beautiful love the hair. Funny cause I have 3 lock in back for same reason. My hair line starts higher appear to look thin because of it but I don't wear mines up much cause of thin edges and my head is so tender since having locks going on 2 years.

Well I love your locs by the way!!! I'm almost 2 years loc'd but I have some of the same issues with mine as you do yours. I have the thin areas (my hair isn't very dense either so that doesn't help), I have the lose ends (which I actually love) and I have the same issue with my back row. The only other thing that bothers me about mine is on my front hairline (near the temples) that hair is then and I have two locs (one on each side) that won't lock!! So I'm trying to stay on top of retightening them more often then I do the rest of my hair to prevent them from coming a loose but I haven't been that successful. But I love them and I am enjoying the process. I also can't wait to put in my loc beads!!

On my second microlocs journey personally. I was at bra strap length by 4 years (a little bit past arm pit length) when I cut my locs and started over. Your hair is behaving exactly like mine. At 4 years a lot of my ends were yet to loc. My loose hair was 4c with some 4b in the very front.

I really appreciate coming across this video. I have some of the same issues with my hair. I think my profile looks better if I put my part on the left and pull my hair towards the right, but based on how my hair grows, my hair looks better if I put the part on the right and let my hair fall on the left. It really bothers me, so I end up with my thinner edges out for an overall fuller look. And no one understands the ear thing it almost looks as if I’m growing out an undercut or a row or two of locs are missing. And my nape no hair grows at all in the center only on the sides. It’s almost like I have two triangle sections of locs on the sides of my nape, and then the center starts at about the 3rd or 4th row It’s all weird.😂🤣😂

I had to combing my nape locs from 5 to 4 and because they are shorter, when I wear my hair up I have (2) rat tails on the far ends lol …but I’ve grown to accept that until they grow longer lol My hairline is higher around my ears as well and thin by my ears…But it is what it is lol Almost a year in and not going back, the freedom outweighs the imperfections for me❤

I have what the old folks would say "cow licks" in the front corners of my hair, so it's super thin. I am very self conscious about it, so I always have a couple of locs hanging when I wear it up. A fuller hair line would be a blessing. Lol

OMG! Sis, I have the same thing too 😩 those cowlicks. So my hairline is super low on my forehead....well, where my hairline should be, but right now is so thin..😢 I'm hoping 🙏🏽 and praying to have it get thicker so my loctician can add more locs because I'm super self-conscious about it as well. I can't even wear a high ponytail because of it. I would have closer to 400 locs if my hairline/edges would grow thicker. I'm going to a dermatologist soon to see if there is anything I can do to get it to grow back.

I started my loc journey a few months ago and it just seems like they dont wanna loc lol. I did the two strand method with a tiny braid at the beginning. Before I combed out my locs, my ends were curly and I was locking for about 20 years. I just clipped the ends every 6-8 months.

So my now 3rd year we have noticed the top of my head is thinner. Almost like a clown 🤡. I ain’t gon lie I nearly broke down afte that appt in my car but I came home, upped my vitamins, made my homemade oils, DMSO aloe hair spray and went to work! After months there is mild improvement on the hair thickening but I remember my grandmother had the same thing!! It’s so generic! So, I’m better. I keep adding extra love to my hair. She is flourishing even the more under my new treatment besides my one stubborn place 😂 One thing I hate too is I have pregnant locs. Locs that have bumps in them from how it was retied at the root. I don’t know how to get rid of them. I hate feeling them😢 We have twin hair 👯‍♂️ The length, density and all! Most of my locs are also curly ends. I don’t hate it at all. I enjoy the process and whatever God gives me🎉😊

1. One side of my hairline is higher than the other side also. 2. Some parts of my hair grow faster than other parts so I think I need a retie but it’s not actually time yet. 3. All of my ends are not locked all the way down either. (I heard it’s because when you get the little balls at the end of your hair you are not supposed to pick them out. It stops the locking process.) I’m 4 yrs in also.

Child! Ain’t nothing wrong with them three locks in the back. I made 1 year and 4 months December 1st. Like yourself my edges are thin from childhood. That area also has the most graying. I debate about dying my hair but find that laying my edges reduces the appearance of my gray hairs

I have HUGE insecureties. 1year and 5 months in and I think they are too big. I have 310is and want to be between 400 and 500 ... I keep considering taking them down even though I know it'll take forever and I'll lose hair. To reinstall and restart my journey 🥲What would you advise?
