A pastor shared something with me once, that was very powerful, and that I have never forgotten. It was in regards to those who "think" they are better than anyone else. He said "the ground is level at the foot of the cross." Neither one of us is better than the other.

Me too. I grew up as an only child and have always been fascinated with large families. Here in Ohio we have Amish and Mennonite communities and go to buy food and other supplies from them. It is like taking a trip back in a Time Machine to see what it was like for pilgrims to live. I have always admired their work ethic, quality of food and great cooking skills as well as how clean and neat their farms are. Their way of life is such a contrast to what the outside world is doing nowadays. However, I never talked to them about their faith. I just assumed they were all Christians and very devoted to the Lord. I never knew they have Bibles written in old German and other traditions that are works based.

The Amish certainly present a "romantic" appeal to the English world looking in. But when you understand more of the motivation behind the appealing aspects it becomes a very dark reality. I have long been attracted to the strong family a d community aspects as well as the simplistic lifestyle. But mix in the basic faith tenets and my heart bleeds for their eyes to be opened. I can appreciate their cloistered style of living to preserve their false beliefs and rumspringa would be better served to delve I to this aspect of the life versus the partying, car driving, electronic aspects... I will need to learn how to pray for the Amish as a whole to see The Truth of Christs gift of salvation.

Wow, thank you to the amish potatoe very interesting video, and when you talked of the Amish how they preach you hit the hammer right on the head...it brought back a sermon to mind in 2018 when my Dad passed away...an besides me I have 4 other siblings that have left the Amish church an yes they still shun us after 30 an 40 yrs of leaving the church...now the bishop that got up to preach at Dad's funeral had to make a point to us worldly siblings, he stated how some Amish people were traveling an at a bus stop or train station some English man says to them they are more protected from the evil out there because of the clothes they wear, how sad it is that he preaches this when there have been many Amish lives taken in evil ways...an Amish girl from Pennsylvania walking home from church an was killed at the hands of an evil person, also 6 months ago a couple got shot west of Indianapolis in a small town with their young son in the front, they were a Beachy conservative....an their have been many more incidents like this that are very unfortunate like this, but they won't preach about that.....

An amish preacher once preached that the amish church has so much to be thankful for that they have visiting ministers while the 'English' churches always have the same preacher every Sunday! Wow! I think it’s a shame that they leave it to a piece of paper being hidden in a book, and randomly making it known WHO will be their next preacher. He may not even want to be put in that position. And what I have learned is that this position is for life. That’s nuts! Can you imagine being forced into this when you don’t even have the desire to do it? They don’t even prepare for what’s being taught to their congregation that specific Sunday. Also, what does the Bible say about repetition!? They do SO many things over and over and over.

For sure. Hell is real no matter which way you look at it. Eternal damnation is where everyone is headed except for the ones who believe in (trust in) Jesus Christ. Amish scare people into following Christ, which means they are only doing it because they “have” to. Biblical churches focus on sharing about the saving knowledge of the gospel of Jesus, and people then choose to follow Christ because of what He did for us.

Awkward Amish Paradoxes: At age 16, start Rumspringa! Party SO HARD!! Also, you MUST beware of reading the Bible too much! It can lead you astray! Assumption about why [most] people leave the community and church: Partying, electronics, and cars! (Apparently, they forget that some people Rumspringa in the Amish community for their whole lives, or so I've heard...) Reality about why people leave the community: "I made an oath to Jesus, so maybe I'll try reading the Bible a little" ... "Amish theology is not okay! I have to get out of here!" Jesus' Beatitudes sermon: Be meek and humble; remember that God can see your heart and judges your actions by your motivation. Sinful thoughts are as deeply wrong as sinful actions. Amish church: Humble-brag and works-based theology with subtle intention to be seen doing the right thing. Maybe someone should tell them about what the Bible says? 'Cause it's awkward that people who are supposed to believe in the Bible and Jesus are discouraged and semi-restricted from knowing the Bible and Jesus. All people [except Jesus] have some kind of flaw, but telling your church to not know about your church is really weird.

@14:25 I agree to an extent but what we call "an anointing" in the Charismatic churches is typically from God, for the purposes of accomplishing real things on earth. Their prosperity or their failures both come from The Lord. Psalm 139/Isaiah 45:7 Here is the deal: I still think they are saved and you are being too hard on them related to this. Even their own sin of "False Witness" from what looks like a works based salvation does not mean it isn't forgiven by the Blood of Jesus. In other words if they have real saving faith then there is a real saving God. They have the same problem all of us have; fear. Only Jesus can fix that per 1John 4: 7-11

Amish have reason to boast to an extent. It isn't for Salvation, just their personal accomplishment. Paul wrote about something similar in Philipians 3: 3 For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh- 4 though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless. (He had a totally clean slate according to the Law, but Jesus still showed up and knocked him off his horse.)

This is not church related. I was just watching a video that was on my feed about an Amish tour bus giving tours of the Amish community in Lancaster, Pa. The man said that you can tell which houses the Amish live in because they all have green shades in the windows. What is the significance of this? The video was quite interesting. The bus stopped by an Amish cemetery. The man explained about how all the tomb stones were fairly plain and the same size. He explained how the deceased body is taken to a local funeral home to be embalmed and then returned to the family's home to be viewed for two days and then buried the rhird day. What was not addressed was if there was a particular way that the deceased person's body was dressed for burial. When you do your video, could you maybe go over this? It was also mentioned in the video about an Amish man who was a welder and needed electricity to weld. He had to go to the bishop and ask for permission to get an electricity source for his welder. He runs a either a gas powered or propane powered generator to weld. Many years ago when I was nursing in a hospital, I was called to help on the Neonatal unit because they were so busy. I remember that there was this infant with breathing problems that eeded oxygen in the home. The parents had to go to the bishop and get permission to get electricity installed in their home so that they could bring their baby home. The baby could not be discharged unless the family had a way for it to get oxygen. As far as I can remember, the bishop gave permission. Another thing that was brought up was that the Amish drove gray buggies and the Mennonites drove black ones. What that man said was very confusing to me, because I have watched a lot of videos about the Amish and have always seen them in black buggies. One such instance was when there was a school shooting many years ago at an Amish school in Lancaster. There was a funeral procession and all of the buggies were black. If you decide to have a video Q & A sometime, could you clarify this about the color of the buggies? Thank you.

Yep going to do a video on the funerals and weddings. Yes they need an ok from the bishop to get an electricity source. My dad runs a diesel generator to power his leather sewing machines. The stricter communities usually aren’t allowed to have curtains for their windows but are allowed to have the green roller shades.

A sin that I believe all modern Christian religious denominations commit is the Sin of Adding to God's commands per Duet 12:32. So from this understanding, no one has "safe salvation." Christians still need as much grace as a heathen to be saved... That's Jesus.

@@theamishpotato My thoughts were not clear on this. My bad. I meant "Saving Grace" is the same salvation when you come to Christ as it is the same salvation you keep when you are saved. In other words Christians still need God to keep his promises. That's what faith is all about. (Those same scriptures in application because we are not physically in Heaven yet.) Philippians 2: 12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed-not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence-continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

Friend. Lord Jesus offers the free gift of salvation. That means it does not cost money. But as one teacher points out: there are other "currencies" beside money. Meaning we spend our time and effort in the promotion of the gospel instead of money. Because the gospel message is to repent and believe everything Lord Jesus said and did is truth. Everything. Means not just believe in the incredible sacrifice on the cross. So how does one "accept" the free giftof salvation Lord Jesus offers? ... by being obedient aka loving God with all one's heart, mind, soul and strength. Because Lord Jesus does not force someone to accept His free gift of salvation. Nor does Lord Jesus force someone to continue in their faith if they no longer want to continue in their faith. That's why we are to go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come to the wedding feast. We're not to keep truth to ourselves. We are to share the truth. Lord Jesus says to speak of that which we know. That's why Lord Jesus says: He who remains faithful to the end shall be saved. So your misunderstood use of the word "saved" is not lost on my ears. Because you think "saved" means a guaranteed ticket to Heaven when in reality "saved" does not mean a guaranteed ticket to Heaven. "Saved" simply means we are given awareness of the supernatural. We are given awareness of right an wrong on a higher level. We are simply "saved" from our own ignorance of God's existence. Means we no longer have that "cloak of ignorance" to hide our sins behind closed doors. Remember. It's not just sin to have actual sex with our neighbor's wife. Rather it's the same sin to look at our neighbor's wife with lust. And all sin separates us from God Whose name is Lord Jesus of Nazareth. You think only physical sins and evil will be punished? ... that's all Fire Lake means, punishment or separation albeit eternal. You think someone who has a wicked cocaine addiction is gonna bring that addiction into Heaven? You think Lord Jesus is not long suffering? ... Friend. God allowed a certain group of people to sacrifice their own children on a burning alter of Molech for 400 years ... you think God didn't want to put a stop to that practice with the first child sacrificed? You think Lord Jesus approves of abortion clinics today which tout themselves as being a legal health care service? You think abortion clinics are not today's alters of Molech? ... wake up. Sin is not going into Heaven. Lord Jesus will say to some: Depart from Me. You who've worked inequity. You think there aren't so-called believers today who profess they love Lord Jesus with their mouth but their heart is far from Him? ... wake up. Because to confess the name of Lord Jesus Christ means you love Him in your heart, not just confess with your mouth. amen. So you're right we who understand certain scripture are going to come out of the woodwork and challenge you because iron sharpens iron. Means we are to contend for the faith. We are to have answer as to the hope that's in us. We are not to sit by only listening to people who give false information to others who are looking for God. We are to reprove and correct false teaching, Paul teaches that. And Peter warns of the danger of continuing in sin as with: Don't be the dog who returns to his own vomit. Nor be the pig who returns to wallow again in her own mire. Lord Jesus says to the woman caught in adultry to go and sin no more lest a worse thing come upon you. Lord Jesus says to the blind man whom He healed: Go and sin no more. You are indoctrinated my friend when you say: We can never be righteous. Because the Old Testament says be holy because God is holy. Lord Jesus in the New Testament says to be perfect just as your Heavenly Father is perfect. Means to be holy because God is holy. Lord Jesus demonstrated water baptism then commands it in John 3: v5 an Mark 16: v16 ... and what does Lord Jesus say to John the Baptist who wanted to refuse to baptize Jesus? ... Jesus said: Permitted at this time to fulfill all righteousness. Lord Jesus also says that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the Pharisees, you shall not enter into Heaven. Lord Jesus would ask someone like you: The baptism of John the Baptist. Was it from Heaven or of men? ... and those Pharisees had no response. Just like the speechless friend in Matthew 22 who did not have on proper wedding garment when King Jesus came in to inspect His guests. What happened to that speechless friend in Matthew 22? ... that friend was cast into outer darkness. good grief. You say: Fear-based approach of talking about coming to faith in Lord Jesus is wrong because a person would then be coming to Him for the wrong reasons. Friend. Lord Jesus talked more about hell to His own disciples than He talked about hell with others. So to suggest Lord Jesus will always forgive our sins when we continue to willfully sin means you do not understand scripture ... or ... you are willfully teaching falsely. There are false teachers who do not know what they teach is false. And there are false teachers who know what they teach is false yet they teach it anyway. Paul asks rhetorically: Shall we continue in sin so that grace may abound? ... Paul answers himself emphatically: God forbid! Book of Hebrews says if we deliberately go on sinning then there remains no more sacrifice for sin. You criticize those who talk about the fear of Fire Lake where there will be eternal burning, etc ... yet in the very next breath you say you don't know what is Fire Lake. Lord Jesus says where the worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched. You think telling people what Lord Jesus said is uncomfortable? ... if your neighbor's house was on fire you'd try a more subtle approach of letting him know? You think there's something more important than a person's eternal future? Are you one of these believers who thinks "oblivion" is what happens in Fire Lake? Friend. Lord Jesus says to not fear them who can kill the body an have nothing more they can do to you. Rather. We are to fear Him Who can throw both body an soul into hell. As well. Hell as it stands right now is not the end so-to-speak. Because at the White Throne Judgement, hell will be thrust down into Fire Lake. Means just when you thought hell was bad enough ... here comes Fire Lake. Friend. Fear of the Lord and love for Jesus are not two separate things. They are desciptions of direction on one's walk of salvation. So we are either walking toward Lord Jesus and the reality of living with Him, the holy angels, and all the brothers an sisters in Christ Jesus in Heaven. Or we are walking away from Lord Jesus. Meaning backsliding into sin and lukewarm-ness. Lord Jesus says if we backslide into sin and lukewarm-ness, He will spew us from His mouth. Lord Jesus says to go and sin no more lest a worse thing come upon us. And before we continue with the false thinking that it's impossible to go and sin no more ... Lord Jesus says with God all things are possible. Meaning the ability to go and sin no more. Moving on. Question: Do you think a "works-based" salvation is wrong? James says faith without works is dead. Paul says we should walk in good works, and that we are nearer our salvation than we we first believed. Lord Jesus says to let your light shine before men so that they may see your good works. Lord Jesus says all people will be judged according to their works. Are you one of those people who will say: All our works are nothing more than filthy rags? Lord Jesus says we shall know people by the fruit, read works they produce. And Lord Jesus says there is only good or corrupt fruit. Meaning good or bad works. There are no "neutral" works because in all our ways we must acknowledge Lord Jesus is God. Do you know what that means: Lord Jesus is God? It means God is not only the disembodied Spirit Whom we see in the Old Testament. Rather Father God was inside that flesh and blood named Lord Jesus of Nazareth. And only the flesh and blood died on the cross. The soul nor His Spirit died on the cross. Three days after being placed in the tomb, God demonstrated a power that only He controls, the power of resurrection. Hallelujah. Isaiah 9: v6 says Jesus is the Everlasting Father. Isaiah 43: v11 says there is no Savior next to God. Meaning Father God is one person Whose name is Lord Jesus of Nazareth. Isaiah 44: v6 and Revelation 22: v13 both say the first and the last. Meaning there cannot be two different firsts and two different lasts. Means Lord Jesus is the Alpha and Omega. The Beginning and the Ending. The Almighty. Glory to God. You are indoctrinated my friend. And these last two videos show how that process evolves. Because satan and his demonic kind, and the false teachers of the world are able to repeat half truth and lies to unsuspecting children as well as adults. And they simply repeat those half truths an lies over and over. Until the false information becomes secondary. That's why Paul talked about the more noble Bereans who studied to see if what they were being told was truth. Apostle John talks about testing people and spirits to see if they are of God. Do you know what that means? Can you tell us the difference between titles baptism and baptism in the name of Lord Jesus Christ? ... you should and you will. Because your eternal future is based on you making a decision with that information. For any with ears to hear. Go to a man of God who knows the difference between titles baptism and baptism in the name of Lord Jesus Christ. Peace of Lord Jesus upon you and yours

Well actually sadly, because the Amish do not preach Jesus and they do not preach Grace or faith and they do not preached the cross. I believe that most of them are NOT even CHRISTIAN. Some might be. And if they are they are Christians secretly. Because becoming a Christian, believing in Jesus Christ and the gospel the way we believe it means that you get kicked out. First you are silenced. Giving you a chance to come back into the fold of the Amish laws for that particular community and if you don’t, then you will be shunned. It’s not that they don’t understand well they don’t but they do it this way because that is the way that the community is held together. Requiring strict obedience to the laws of the community is the cohesiveness of the Amish community. That’s why they stick together and they don’t leave. FEAR. Because if you get kicked out, then you are part of the devil, you are a child of the devil. We, the English, out here are all walking with the devil and on our way to hell. If you get shunned then you are on your way to hell automatically. Even if you say you’re a Christian and you believe the Bible but I now understand that Jesus has saved me by faith not by works. They don’t care. You’re on your way to hell. Dad did it this way, grandpa did it this way, great grandpa did it this way, 300 years ago they did it this way, and that’s what we have to do if we want to go to heaven. BUT then some of them will find out when they move to a different community that the way that they thought was the only way to get to heaven is not the same way that these people in this community lives. They’re more strict or more permissive. And that’s why there are actually many people that are finally breaking the Amish silence. And sadly, as with all cults…..I believe this is a cult because of the shunning and the fear and the rules obedience that is used to keep you in place……. You will find incest and rape rampant. And if the woman says anything they get together and decide whether or not the guy did anything wrong. It is tragic. Just like with all cults. It always boils down to an unnatural and unhealthy and unbiblical perspective about sex. The married women are expected to be have as many babies as possible. And the women do not have a voice. They are expected to be submissive and obey their leaders especially the husband who is busy obeying the leaders.
