We are quickly working to get our breezeway and new cabin extension insulated before the new baby arrives. In fact, this is most likely the last video BEFORE the baby arrives! How exciting! Do you think we can get it done in time before the new bundle of joy takes over our family? ;) :)
Our names are Ashley & Jeremy and we are building a cabin alone in the Canadian wilderness.
We're a couple trying our best to live a more self reliant life after a medical release from the army changed everything. We are currently building on a small mountain in the woods. We'll be sharing that and much more, so subscribe.

Two years ago I bought a Bluetti AC200P, with three 270 watts solar panels to power our garden. I wanted to try out solar, and the equipment should be useable somewhere else. If the AC output is active, it drains the battery 2.5%/hour, that's 60% in 24 hours. So it used most of the solar power for making warm air. The maximum charge rate was described with 700 watts, but that works only if the box is in a cool environment. At 100F, its less than 500 watts. In the end I powered a small fridge, lights, a lawn mowing robot, an Amazon Echo and a WLAN repeater with it. That did work well for the three months of summer. The high consumption in idle was the limiting factor. The box is now used for camping, the panels are sold. It did convince me however to invest in a solar system for our three-family house, 23 kWp, 30 kWh battery, three-phase each 15 kVA. It gives us autarky for several months per year, actually since April 4th this year. I guess in October, solar will deliver below demand. We got 2800 kWh in August, but are down to 1800 kWh this September. The ability to use all appliances, having the A/C running all day in summer, charge my EV, while the meter stand still for already 6 months, I have no regrets. Just the amount of independece🥰

So excited to hear the next video will be with the baby !! That staging paid for itself with the time you saved using it. I would guess that quite a few people who remark on your mistakes probably couldn’t build a dog house. I’ve had a few of those sidewalk supervisors standing around bugging me a few times when i was working. Had a neighbor once that was coming everyday with advice but never offered to lift a finger to help. Another friend did the same but anytime something that we thought was simple had to be fixed at his house we got the HELP ME call. One guy didn’t even know how to screw in a screw before i taught him to but told me i was doing it wrong. I even had to teach him how to change a tire !! We were in our 20s at the time !! The only difference is they were right by me and i could offer them the tool and say if i’m not doing it right, have at it. That would shut them up for a while but they didn’t take me up on the offer. God blessed me with alot of patience, there were times i wanted to slap the snot out of them though.
