This is how it works. Going from hs to college, the level of play is more complicated and to pros even worst. Many shined in hs bc its easy, transferring that to college and pros is very difficult, we already saw that several good players couldn't transfer their game, they improved until their 3rd season but never completely like in college. Clark is something I've never seen before, she shut me up with her rookie year, I expected her to be good (i like to be realistic) but she definitely far exceeded what was expected of her. I can't imagine what clark will do next season

? That does not make any sense, so what you are saying CC is better because? Here is context ---- Paige is still better as the overall PG ... CC is more of a volume shooter. AR beat CC twice before transferring to LSU and they shared conference freshman player of the year. Players in HS are graded based on their positions and which players has the highest score then they are ranked. Which is why CC never won a natty because the system she played in the other 3 played on teams that focused on defense. Until CC become a 2-way player she won't win anything.

@@gregthomas2448 my dad was a championship basketball coach in the 50s and 60s and 70s and was one of the first coaches to run a fast break offense. I’m not saying that page isn’t highly skilled, but If you watch Paige sprint there’s no explosiveness or power. Mick and others say paige doesn’t have a motor like CC or Hannah, but that’s not it, she just doesn’t have a physical ability to move that fast. With this lack of physical ability and her passiveness , she’ll never be able to take over a game and carry her team in the WNBA.

@ I really haven’t watched Paige enough to give my full perspective. You do know that Paige is older than CC and when they played against each other on the AAU circuit, Paige was the better more all around athletic player. CC has deficiency issues too, primarily her lack of defensive skills, hot headed temper tantrums which have caused discord and technical fouls. Her on court demeanor is a factor too. Her mood swings are disruptive. Now I agree Coach Sides was the wrong fit for CC. That was obvious. Paige’s injury still had a detrimental impact on her versatility and explosive first step. That’s also a fact. CC weathered being beaten like a piñata 🪅 all season, let’s see if she can handle that again. Wish them both well 👍

As I remember HS players go to programs based on who is the HC the program success and how they are recruited. UConn has a long history of winning for Sarah Strong to even start it shows that UConn is dedicated to it's future also Strong was not just the top player in HS but in the country due to her constant play in representing the US internationally. This is why CC was not selected for the Olympics. Her HC was the HC for the 2021 Olympic team and she didn't tryout. Its not Geno's fault these women want to play for his program. LSU tried to get Strong like many other programs. My point its better to go to a recognized HC and program than to a no name HC.

Most of you criticized Breanna Stewart and what she said about her former HC at UConn. She should know him better than any one of you because she won 3 nattys under him and just because a team has success does not mean everything was okay behind the scenes. Paige might not win the big games unless her HC let her loose. He held her back last season and he's doing it again. You can't compare Paige and CC. Paige is an all around PG who can play 1-4 positions, CC is a volume shooter PG who can play only 1 and 2 positions. Therefore Paige will always have a higher efficiency rating because she is more likely to not shoot 3 pointers even though she averages 42% she will take that last shot if needed. She more of a facilitator.

Things are looking fine for UConn. It is December. They need to figure out if they can get anything out of Jana or Ice. They need to figure out if Aubrey or Azzi are coming back. (Both of whom could have helped against USC.) and Geno needs to coach better. They can easily make the final four again this year. I don’t think they can beat South Carolina. But no one really can to be fair. UConn and several other teams just need to play the games and hope someone else beats South Carolina for them.

IMO Caitlin Clark’s game is inherently more exciting. In comparison the Geno game style is no longer relevant. The best comparison is when the NFL went from a running game to aerial game. Joe Montana and Bill Walsh’s game changed the game and made it exciting and kept EVERYONE on the edge of the seats because no game was out of reach. Geno’s game is boring handing off the big bruising running back and punishing it down the middle. That’s their whole boring game plan. That was Christy side’s game plan. CC was supposed to pass it to the centre and let her pound it down the throat of the defence. Clark is so different because her range opens up space and defences have to come out to meet her. This makes her passing lanes open up. It’s something no one else can do!!! Clark is so special that she can take advantage of the spacing with her vision and magical passing. The three attributes cannot be replicated by anyone. On top of that she’s got the intangibles of fearlessness and clutch ice cold blood in her veins. THIS IT’S WHY MEN LIKE ME WHO HAVE PLAYED THE GAME APPRECIATES HER AND ARE IN AWE OF HER TALENTS.
