My family have always done this type of cleaning whenever we stay at a hotel. I would not be able to just waltz right in and be comfortable touching or sitting on anything until I wipe everything down myself. Gives me peace of mind.

I like your video. I put on gloves before I do any checks or cleaning. A ziplock bag works for the remote too & you dont have to worry about it falling out. Nice video-have fun & stay safe!👍

We actually use Bathrom Rubber flip flops (flip flops separated for indoor use, mine are white, my other one is black) in hotels. That is actually an habit here in Brazil. And spray Lysol down here is actually only 70º Alcohol, so any 70º alcohol in a spray bottle will do the same. Never ever use the duvets, they are meant only to protect the bedding from dust. If you are cold use the blankets, which most of the time are properly cleaned and wrapped in plastic bags. If you want to relax at your hotel bedding the most sanitary is to put on some indoor clothing, pajamas and such, remove the duvet and then lay down. Also, bleach can react to uv lamps. So the "splatter" can also be sprayed bleach. That is why the towels glow. It is regulatory all over the world that towels must be washed with bleach. That is why most hotel towels are not 100% cotton. Most are 70/30, 70% cotton and 30% polyester making them more durable against bleach and other chlorine products. Most bathrooms down here are made of tile, so a quick 70º alcohol spray works wonderfully cleaning things up.

You pack your own flip flops? Great tips and I didn't know that about bleach splatters, thank you! You sound like a seasoned clean freak traveler.

I keep a pack of sandwich baggies in my suitcase to cover remote controls in the hotel room. I also pack a roll of paper towels and tall kitchen-sized trash bags. The bags come in handy for laundry. I also keep a pair of plastic/rubber slides in my suitcase.

This is me! You have given me an extra thing to do by spraying the bed. I have even taken curtains down and washed them in one place! I always, always clean the shower too. I don’t want my feet on someone else’s bacteria such as plantar warts!

Before I enter the room I tell the front desk I want new sheets and comforters,I even help put it on the bed. I never use the ice bucket without clean fresh bag. I never use the cups,glasses on the sink. Btw I’m an R.N.

I do this too, I can't help it. Drives my family nuts, but oh well. I was told not to check the bed for bugs, but under the box spring and being the headboard because the sheets take bugs.

I do this. I also Lysol the soap dishes, shower knobs and the shower floor, and I wear flip flops in the shower

I lysol the side tables and remote then put it in a plastic bag. I clean all the handles, door knobs and light switches with lysol too along with toilet and all surfaces in the BR. OK .... ready. I also take a large piece of plastic with me (true), cover the bed with it and then I put one of my own old sheets down on top if it. In the morning I just leave every thing there as it for them to throw away becasue I wont putthe sheet or plastic back in my car. I also can't let my head touch the pillows so I put towels over the pillow tops and don't touch them. I know ... I know .... but this is what I do. I take my own slippers too. I can not walk on that gross hotle carpeting ... disgusting. And oh .... yes, I do this while I'm all gloved up too!!!! . American hotel rooms literally gorss the shot out of me. PS - advice ....never ever ever use a hotel blanket or duvet. I promise you they are not washed like sheets are. Eeecchhhhh! Oh yea .... put your bags in the bathtub and nowhere else.

What kind of large sheet of plastic do you use? 😯 I’m worried mostly about the bed, since I can wipe everything else down with Clorox wipes.

Most hotels don’t clean duvets and bedspreads unless they see obvious dirt or whatnot. Trust me I know. 🤢
@CleanFreakGermaphobe3 жыл бұрын
Yep. That's why a lot of clean freaks will not touch them or will try to disinfect them...Duvets can be ruined by washing them, if they're down. However, I wish that hotels would change the cover with the sheets. Is it because they're too hard to put back on??
@kelleyleblanc50253 жыл бұрын
@@CleanFreakGermaphobe we had a gel fill duvet that could be washed however it was sandwiched between 2 sheets and a cover so it was normally protected. I think the housekeeping didn’t want to wash them all the time because it would add to an already insane amount of laundry. We would have guests that would ask for the entire bed to be laundered before them came. I would make sure that was done but our housekeeping staff was very reluctant to do so.

@CleanFreakGermaphobe3 жыл бұрын
You can do that too. I'm nervous about using anything with liquid on electronics. Over time the numbers can wear off too. But you can wipe it. The plastic bag or a shower cap works in a pinch.
@michelledcarter3 жыл бұрын
I do at home, but at a hotel..... she is correct, it is quicker. You could use the spray, but you would need to spray more to make sure it is really disinfected and clean and doing so would probably miss up the remote. Best to follow her instructions.
