Nice reiview!...I have had the original(1.0) Mars since 2021, I use it daily for commuting and food delivery here in the Bronx/NYC. its been very reliable i only wish the battery could last more ...I've been thinking of getting a second battery, or even an additional bike as an backup/upgrade...So, im seriously considering pulling the trigger on Mars 2.0, especially with the black Friday sale price point...I hope the random cut off isn't an issue, and i would prefer hydraulic brake so..I'llthink it over the next 24hrs....Oh, and use chalk for marking the road.

Clean your brake discs thoroughly before riding people! The oil they put on them to prevent corrosion will soak into your brake pads and you will never have optimal braking.

I just bought this bike at the Cyber Monday price, plus a KZbin channel $100 discount. End result $900. Can't beat that. (I also got the price $300 lower because my credit card asked if I wanted to use my "points" for the purchase. I didn't even know what they were talking about, but I pressed "OK" and $300 additional was knocked off the price. So $600, that's a no-brainer in my book.) I already have some hybrid hydraulic brakes for it, so I will be installing those first thing ("hybrid" means I use the existing Heybike cables with the hydraulic calipers). By the way guys, the Heybike uses non-proprietary 3rd party brakes, so many of the hydraulic brakes will fit the bike. There's also other components you can upgrade if you're not happy with the bare bones stuff on the bike. I don't care because this is a budget beater bike. Even if it was feasible, I'm not going to install a Shimano Dura-Ace R9100 Crankset on this El Cheapo brand bike. P.S. On the trouble you were having, is it possible the battery was not fully seated? Sometimes you have to give it a good push to make sure it is all the way in and all contacts are fully mated. Also, like you discovered, could be that the cables are loose. That happens a lot in shipping, things come loose, or the sub-minimum wage worker didn't do his job.

That’s a good speed for that price point. Wish my lectric would go 28-30 mph throttle only. But those brakes have to go. Even Lectric learned that hydraulic brakes are required on even lower priced e-bikes. Would like to see a 15ah battery upgrade available. It’s to bad really. Really good e-bike for the price, almost ruined by terrible brakes. I hope the gear in the back goes down to 11 tooth. And the chainring at least minimum 52 tooth (another thing absolutely required) on pedal e-bikes to help avoid that annoying ghost pedaling. These adjustments i listed would make this e-bike 10/10 . And like i mentioned , i really wish my lectric 3.0 would throttle only like this does .

I have the Mars. Brakes are definitely bad out of the box but get better over time. The battery indicator will drop down to 2-3 bars when there is a lot of battery demand. I guess the purpose is to give you an idea of how much battery you have left if you keep pushing it at that specific pace.

One of my first e-bikes had that battery quick access style seat back in 2010 but for some reason my brain didn't put 2 and 2 together so I never actually used it the right way, lol. Your talking about stickers reminded me that I needed a new rear tire for my XP 2.0. I tried finding an inexpensive one online with no luck but then I remembered I have parts of a fat tire trike in my garage with 20x4" tires. I just figured out that the tires fit on the XP even though it comes with 20x3" tires. Also I had to mentally cross my fingers while I was pulling some stickers out of my front tire.

If you buy a folding ebike that you actually intend to fold and wrangle around on a regular basis, I believe that this bike is on the large and unwieldy side. The Portola weights 59 lbs., for example compared to the Mars 75 lbs. And I really think that 3" tires on a folder make things a lot easier. And those brakes are completely unacceptable... 😒

Hyebike 1000 W came with hydraulic brakes. However, I prefer Lectric XP 3.0 Long Range because it could go up to 65 Miles.

I would agree the brakes should be hydraulic. Honestly with the current power of bikes nearly all should be. They don't need to be top of the line and could probably raise the price by $10 and be good.
@FoundingYouTuber-2005
@FoundingYouTuber-2005 11 ай бұрын
Agree. But in these mass-produced bikes, adding $20 additional to the cost for each bike to have hydraulic brakes adds up when producing, say maybe 10,000 bikes. I also suspect that because the price for OK hybrid hydraulic brakes now cost about $100 retail, or $180 for hydraulic cables too in the set, Heybike and others think that if it is that important to the customer s/he can install brakes after purchasing the bike. Myself, I just bought this bike. I have a pair of Area 13-branded hybrid brakes I'll be installing ($140). Also Amzn has a number of brake sets ranging from $40 for junk ones, or $180 for a quality full-hydraulics set.

@@FoundingKZbinr-2005 I would agree with you. Now the manufacturers aren't paying retail as you know. They are getting pretty good discounts because of bulk purchases. Not many people need to order a few thousand sets of brakes. I do have a full set of spares plus a few sets of pads. I don't know if I will ever need the spare sets but good to have on hand. I live in Australia so it takes time to get parts no matter where they are made.

Good review. But I would say that HeyBike is full of crap saying that the rear rack holds 120lbs.... My experience with a lot of different ebikes is that bolt-on racks, that aren't a welded part of the frame, support about 55 pounds. It looks like what happened is a non-native English-speaking person, put 55 in the Google kg to pound weight converter and saw 120 on the other side...Which is a bad misprint of factual information because people that aren't familiar with bikes may think they can safely put their kids seat on the rear.
@MrCentralDriver
@MrCentralDriver 11 ай бұрын
I see what you’re saying. I think they achieve a higher load because the rack rests on top of the frame of the bike and the bolt tabs are on the side. But I agree I wouldn’t max this rack out personally. Welded bike racks are much more secure with weight.
@anthonysuarez7416
@anthonysuarez7416 11 ай бұрын
Its also the slight/gradual vibration between the frame and the rack that makes them weak. I've found that the only way to make those kind of racks hold up well with more than 35 pounds of weight (on a regular basis) is to use at least 4 hose clamps that fit around the frame and rack to cut down on the vibrations. I've also observed if you cut one of those racks with a saw, you will see they are usually all made with this cheap flaky aluminum that is only used in places like NorthEastern Asia @@MrCentralDriver
