Funny thing, u mentioned about having this video in the background while doing chores, I was doing laundry and listening to the latest video by Johnny Harris about deep state...and this video drops by. But I think something as visual as this cannot be enjoyed while having it in the background. This is meant to be watched by sitting down while grabbing a snack. Not something to listen to while doing "your chores".
@JasonVong2 ай бұрын
@@souviksaha.4707 Haha yes to truly enjoy something, you have to be fully present. I would love that for people to spend 20min of their day to watch something I create. But I understand many people have busy lives with a bajillion things to do. I often throw a random long youtube video in the background when I'm cleaning and when I see or hear something interesting, I actually sit my butt down to watch or even rewatch with full attention because I saw something that I really like. I'm hoping my series will have that same effect! Ofc, the downside to that is, the chore actually don't get finished 🤣

Definitely appreciate these kinds of videos and how diverse the content within them is. Also, I like the fact that both of you still incorporate lessons on Photography/ Videography. I've always wanted to travel to Japan, and this helps.
@JasonVong2 ай бұрын
So happy to hear that! You're right, we talk a lot about gear and settings to get the right shot. But not often do people show the other 90% of photography/video - which is the excessive planning & preparations to get the shot! Our series tackle that, esp the disappointment when we are faced with challenges, but also how rewarding it can be when we achieve the shot! That's the exciting and fun part of it all!
@WIHRC2 ай бұрын
@JasonVong exactly. As someone who is still in the beginning stages of photography / videography it's great to know that even people who have been doing it for so long come across hurdles. It brings a more human aspect to things, especially given that everybody tries to show this perfect side that just isn't realistic. Looking forward to seeing more of the experience both of you have and the tips that you'll share.

I truly enjoy your videos. You give me great information about lenses, cameras, and shooting tips while giving me a good laugh at the same time. One, in particular, was your comments about continuous sport shooting cows in motion-I'm not saying that right, but I laughed out loud. It is refreshing to see great photography content that is not taken too seriously. So many of these channels are so serious or intent on letting you know just how expert they are or what a cool photographer they are. They forget to have FUN. What a concept! Looking forward to your next installments and watching your channel grow.
@JasonVong2 ай бұрын
thanks Jamie!! Really means a lot to us! Very specific moment on the cows too! 🤣 Yep, as reviewers sometimes, it's hard to test everything (and to test it well!) so we gotta make due with the moment we have. It makes all the test stuff a lot more fun for us and digestible for you guys!

We announced we were filming for it last year but the other 90% of the work lies in storyboarding & editing which I definitely underestimated 🫣 we all did our best to work on it on our spare time but it's been on the forefront of our minds to get it out. Perfect timing too as Cherry Blossoms are starting up again in Japan 🤣

WE WANT ALL THREE. ;) We followed along the locations in Season One on our trip last Nov and captured perfect fall foliage from Kyoto, Mt Fuji and that oh so special tree by the lake, and finally to ToKyo (granted we were very lucky with the timing and amazing people we met along the way to make it possible, nothing went Wrong, they just went @JasonVong !!)

I'm there! Loved the first season, which actually inspired me to find some of the spots from that series in order to make my own autumn leaves photos in Japan. And, let's just say I was not as lucky as you with regards to the timing! Only weeks before I was scheduled to go to Japan the prediction of autumn colors was delayed for at least a week. Which means my entire itinerary was planned a week too early... So I know all too well the difficulties of chasing colors! Looking forward to seeing your experiences in your new series :)

Hey Jason, love the channel and your unique presentation manner 👏🏻. A quick question for you about the Sony A6700 photography settings. My dad is an old school photographer used to wet film process. He swears by low ASA settings and wants to shoot at 50 ISO as he believes this will give the best results. However, would the cleanest image be found shooting at 800 ISO? Hope you can help use with this? Thanks so much. Cheers.

Cannot wait Jason! I love your series. There's another angle that can be a Gone Vong topic: Trying to do this with full family with little kids. I try a lot to film our trip or ventures, but things go "Vong" so often, and sometimes we're just being cranky from misbehaving kids - the shots and clips are just coming out uninspiring and reminding bad moments more than good. It's another challenge that does not get shows in videos, when the family does not cooperate BTW, I just bought the Sony 16-55 G for my a6300 and a lot of was based on your impression (got it for cheap used too!), and soon will get the a6700!

That might have to be a Travel Gone Vong Season 6 or something haha! I hear ya on traveling with a whole fam is tough. Hopefully you have some great photos to make up for it. 😥 16-55mm + a6700 should be a very excellent combo! Enjoy it! I love my a6700!

@JasonVong I'll be relocating to Tokyo early next year for various reasons... But mostly I'm here to enjoy your awesome videos and learn something I didn't know. Thanks for creating those entertaining videos. Japan's an beautiful country, hope you have loads of fun. Btw, JR pass isn't worth buying anymore unless you're planning to travel across the country back to back.
@JasonVong2 ай бұрын
I hope Tokyo brings exciting opportunities for you! We are looking to be back soon as well ourselves! We personally haven't bought JR Passes since the borders open up mainly because the limited timing is too restrictive when chasing Cherry Blossoms/Autumn Leaves 😭 but it's still a huge bummer to hear about the price hike.

Rude tourists have also now forced the Gion neighbourhood in Kyoto to shut down access to the many private alleyways and venues. IMHO the last “good” year in Kyoto was 2013… the last year they ran the Yamaboko Junko parade just once (in the traditional format). Good luck..!

Yes, sadly. The unfortunate side of things is that crowd does take away a lot of the authenticity of the environment. We try to keep our heads up high and still try to enjoy the moment as you will see in the first episode. Second ep will take us away from the crowd so it should be a lot more "peaceful"
