I went shopping for a sofa and some Christmas gifts and I arrived home with a large area rug for our great room and items to use for Christmas decorating and entertaining before the holidays.

I had to laugh at how different we all are. When you saw the rain , you made a to go coffee and thought lets go shopping. I see that rain and windy day and make a cappuccino and think , I am staying home in my pj's all day and not leaving the house... its good books, a fire, something warm to eat and I am one happy lady. Maybe even a nap under an old quilt ....ahhhhhhhh

Honestly, Linda- I knew we couldn't shop together- we like the same things! Case in point: now we have the same Karastan rug! So sorry about your trees. But you could make a Yule log. Find a piece, neaten the ends, then add a spray of Christmas greenery on top, cones, a red bow-whatever. It would be a nice way to say goodbye to your trees!

Yay!...hubbie, chivalry is certaintly not dead at your home! Wow, those consignment prices are too steep for my budget, but glad you are able to shop in those price ranges. I too am searching for a tea box, glad you found one. That rug is gorgeous. Great idea to remove those trees to hopefully stop the spreading of that disease.

I always love it when you take us shopping with you, and you do have the very best consignment/thrift/antique stores. Personally, I love a leather sofa, especially having dogs. But I did buy a fabric covered sofa when we moved to this house, and I’m always wishing I had stayed with my favorite, leather. Your new carpet is stunning! I can’t believe you managed to luck out on that color palette, and the print is particularly beautiful, I think. We also had a terrible rain/wind storm here in Northern Arizona on Tuesday night. My husband was having to make a few repairs around the house today. Thanks so much for sharing that gorgeous sunset!!

Thanks for taking us along with you! This video was fun! And, I loved your tip about looking at the back of a sofa if it will be exposed. Such a simple point, that many people would probably not think about. And, the tea box presentation is a thing that the Victorians used to do. Since tea was an extravagant item in some places, they had beautiful display boxes to keep it in while serving guests. And, I wish I lived in your area. I would have snatched those French country style chairs with the little stool, in a heartbeat! You have the best taste for decor!

I just wanted to add that my husband and I have gone to estate auctions( in upstate NY, so I know prices can vary)and have found spectacular savings on beautiful furniture at a fraction of what you would pay at a consignment store, the downside is you have to be patient and wait sometimes but a piece you love can pop up at any time.

I have Karastan carpets also. Yours is beautiful. They are wonderful. Since they are no longer manufactured , snap them up when find one at a good price.

That mountain that is in the background looks like Mount Monadnock, so pretty. My brother actually made some money when he had a lot of pine trees on his property removed. Someone bought it for the wood( about 20 years ago) there used to be a lot of furniture builders in his area. I don’t know if selling the pine is a possibility anymore, but …. That rug is perfect for the room and l love the cotton color of the Ethan Allen cabinet . Thank you for sharing.

I grew up with Karastan rugs and they're well known in the area as we're about 40 minutes away from the Karastan factory (which sadly closed this year) in Eden, NC. As you mentioned, Karastans are made on machine looms which means they can be folded for storing or transporting. You can fold them in thirds in one direction (like a letter) and then fold them in thirds in the other direction. I've fit a folded 8 x 10 Karastan in the trunk of my Toyota Corolla. The ability to fold is a unique feature of a Karastan--especially compared to hand knotted rugs which must be rolled.

Linda, I loved all of your consignment finds. The green bowl was unique and I can see lots of uses. I didn’t like those leather sofas because they were too loosely fitted and the leather looked wrinkly and unkempt. The rug was gorgeous. My living room rug has some of the same designs in it, which I found interesting. Thanks for another great video. The consignment shops are definitely tempting....it is hard to walk away with nothing. Too many temptations!
