My husband and I JUST NOW got back to Missouri from a fall leaf viewing excursion in Ohio, New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and the Virginias. I can definitely see why there are so many in love with your area. Gray skies the whole way, but that really set off the vibrant fall foliage. Bless you on your homemaking adventure! You may discover in Sugarwood's history that like many Colonial houses clapboard was featured in the front of the house with less expensive siding (shingle, barnboard) in the back (or out of view) in an effort to save on material costs. The mixed siding can add interest, too. Maybe consider power washing the existing wood first to see if the lighter wood gives you a less rustic look. You do good trimming work.Maybe use the glass garage door inside and put lace behind one side. I did once replacing a bedroom door. It was a beautiful touch. Happy for your new house.
