For someone who was single for the longest time to finding love in my 30s! I’ve been in a mature, loving relationship for nearly 3 years now. Few things I love about relationships & few things I miss about my single life. Things I love: Have a companion to do things with & emotional support. Things I miss from my single life: My time, effort & energy was all my own.! It’s so true that you don’t have much time for yourself when you’re in a relationship. I also miss meeting new people (coz your emotional needs are fulfilled by your partner). Although, this can get toxic easily when you don’t maintain your existing friendship with your girlfriends. I especially miss the first date butterflies! 😜 That whole “getting dressed up & going out on a date”, learning new things about a new person. The novelty, the nerves, the excitement, that initial rush! Having said that, I wouldn’t trade what I have right now for anything in the world! I need to learn to better manage my time & attention & still do things that I used to enjoy doing when I was single - like pursuing a hobby, make new friends, etc. Coz I know my partner would like that😊. He always encourages me to do things that bring me joy & asks me not to focus so much of my energy into our relationship. I strongly believe we women are givers & we need to draw the line before we completely lose ourselves in the relationship 😇

I didn't know that you had got divorced. I'm 28 and my parents have started looking for me on Matrimonial Apps and have really tried hard to force me into talking to boys that they shortlisted (without my consent) and I didn't like any of those boys. They are trying really hard to scare me about the prospect of being a single woman. And while I don't know about my future, looking at you taking such a bold step has given me renewed strength and courage to stand strong and say no to things that I'm not comfortable with and that do not have my consent. It's much better to be a single woman than to be paired up with a partner who makes you unhappy or worse, are forced to be with him only because you are scarced of ending up alone and even though you don't really love him or like him, you still stay with him. As a single woman, I am still developing the courage and strength to not get bullied and intimated by the fears that society wants us to believe. It is this fear that makes many people make wrong choices in their life.

Yeah Jovi, As a couple girl - even though I married the man I loved the most and thought would do anything for me and care about my wellbeing and my career development and all, i found out I missed my identity, i missed my happiness in having what I loved to eat around people or at home, i missed my dressing sense, i missed the joy of selecting my own dress, makeup things, even handbag, my thought process, my sleep and wake cycle, watching movie of my choice with family which in turn kind of lost interest in watching movies, reducing my abilities in some areas to matchup with his family, financial freedom, emotional attacks while choosing anything other than his will right, much more ... We tend to adapt to all as normal or act like normal and positive. It's overwhelming most of the time.

Ever since I got divorced about 15 years ago, I've been enjoying the independence! Now that my kids are almost adults, it's even more liberating. Being single helps focus on your career. Its advice to all the college girls who are in a relationship, focus on your degree than on a guy because your degree/career will never say "i dont love you anymore hence I am breaking up". When my long relationship came to an end, I started focusing on myself. Got fit, cleared CA exams, and learned to enjoy my own company.

The sixth one is something even I can resonant with... I am not somebody who has gotten out of a marriage but my mother apparently has, not officially but unofficially and we hope that happens soon but I see her being way more free now to do whenever she wants to do what ever. That freedom is precious.... I know what you are saying when you say sometimes you don't want to have a heavy lunch...it is freeing

I’m only 20 years old so my thoughts are not backed by experience but Indian society has a way of viewing divorce as this really negative thing. We all know that. But you know what, if it’s the end of a relationship that was causing unhappiness, divorce is a really happy, positive thing. I love that you are presenting the positive (and negative) changes that accompany this process so organically. More power to you, may you stay strong, healthy and make all your dreams come true. The movement he asked for gold it was 5th year of our marriage and i got recent miscarriage, i left him on that spot because I felt the they don't have my value. I started earning and became independent but the point somewhere in your life you feel that you are missing something in your life, again he kept calling and wanted me to talk to him. i felt like he likes me and wants to live with me so i decided to be with him but now still i feel like hunger of gold has not gone .

100% excellent advice for women. Lot of places felt like glorifying divorce though. Nobody has to stay in a abusive or toxic or unhappy marriage at any cost. But cooking for another person or mixing with partner s friends or sharing interest should not be a reason. This is both ways not just for women . Must be interesting to listen to your ex husbands liberating speech.

It's not just about looking at the positive side of it, but it truly lets you be with yourself, makes you analyze yourself more, allows you to improve yourself & moreover makes you self dependent for every little thing. How do you deal with the society's aunties or that nosy kunjamma who keeps trying to guilt trip you coz you're no longer married? I'm 30 and unmarried and the pressure from my mother and everyone to get married is intense and sometimes more than I can cope. It's tough. Even talking to guys is stressful coz I don't feel comfortable with most of them. And some of them aren't even worth our time, but I still have to speak to them coz how else would I get married...sigh. Half of the profiles in the matrimonial sites are fraud or guys looking for a hookup. It's like a cloud of judgement hanging over your head all the time and I'm finding it difficult to be happy even for a single moment. Why can't I be free and still accepted in society? Sorry for the rant... Had to get it out somewhere.
