I think what this guys really getting at is he wants this to be a movie. I loved Spider-Man no way home in particular, but honestly couldn’t care less for the 2 before. They felt so much like episodes in a season (the episode being the movie and the season being the MCU as a whole) they didn’t feel like genuine movies to me. Even NWH felt like the more serious theme was due to the other spidermen. I honestly don’t care really what they do, as long as Tom can get a deep meaningful movie as Spider-Man ON HIS OWN

I actually believe Spider-Man 4 will dial down it’s humor a bit and set a more serious/grounded tone pursuing to the last film’s ending. You see Peter literally lose everything from his aunt, to his girlfriend, to his identity, etc. And then we see him move into his own apartment. So that ending basically paves the way for a mature Spider-Man arc. I honestly can’t wait

I agree with most of this, except for the need for a love interest. I think they can really hone in on Peter feeling alone after basically losing everyone. I think that introducing a love interest now would also undermine the ending of NWH, and I would prefer to see Peter going through accepting his new fate ending with a chance to change it. This could be something quite benevolent, such as a slow re-acquaintance with MJ, or maybe something a bit more sinister, e.g. Kang, Doc Ock, Green Goblin etc.
