I don't like that it doesn't have a gas gauge. Not a deal breaker, but I can never remember to reset a tripmeter at the gas station. The Guzzis seem to be selling pretty well in my area. They deserve to. Piaggio has done a great job with them.

I ride a V7 III and one of the reasons is it is just an old time type roadster bike. Not a cruiser,ADV ,dirt bike or sports bike that dominate the market now. Once nearly all bikes were like this before the split into different styles. This thing is fast enough for me, is lighter than a Harley and it has a huge tank. I put a screen on mine and it makes a great all round little tourer. Not great for the desert or high speed freeway. But 95% of everything else it does very well and very ,very enjoyably. This is really the bottom line ,I can`t explain scientifically or technically why ,but I ride this thing more than any bike I have had in years.

If those rough roads are making you feel like you're gonna get launched off the seat, add some preload to the rear shocks. I was having the same problem with my V7 III and adding some preload made a HUGE difference for me. I weigh about 250 lbs and gave it about 8 turns. Also, those rough roads, at least from what can be seen in the video, look pretty typical of New England back roads.

I absolutely agree with you in most points. I fitted Bitubo rear shocks with adjustable preload and rebound to tune them to my taste and black adjustable levers. And bar-end mirrors, are just a bit more beautiful. Get the bike, spend some cash on upgrades and it’s the best it can be.

It has a good sound, and with the quieter exhaust you can hear the mechanics of the motor and gearbox much better, which a lot of people prefer that. Its very unique experience on this bike that I haven't felt on any other bike out there, and is very nice imo.

I own a $37,000 Harley and the gear indicator acts the same. A lot of it is in the operator, it will not show which gear you just shifted to unto the clutch is fully engaged. As far as the exhaust, all manufactures had to quiet their exhaust in order to sell in certain market areas. You Kawasaki has forward controls so that's an unfair comparison. It's a GUZZI be glad and enjoy it.

I got the V9 MY2021, so in fact same engine of the V7 2021, and even if I'm happy AF about my choice and I couldn't have take a better moto for my tastes, I've to say the sound is really shit on mine as well. Unfortunately is not all Moto Guzzi's fault, with the new EURO 5 laws we've got in Europe, every new bike that is E5, has a terrible sound. So I'm considering the extra expense for the Agostini, Mistral or Zard pipes. It's a shame because they're not cheap bikes, and bying new exhausts wasn't on program. Beside that, they're amazing bikes.
@bikerbeliever8169
@bikerbeliever8169 3 жыл бұрын
yeah, the engine itself has a great tone and growl to it, but its muffled horribly by the euro5 compliant mufflers/exhaust setup. If you want to hear what this bike is intended to sound like you got to have some slip ons or better set of pipes to hear it the way it was intended

Oh! This is lacking a fuel gauge too! I’m trying to choose between this and a BMW R nine T, who also lack a fuel gauge. This is close to a deal breaker for me and my range anxiety. Maybe I’ll have to go for one of those modern bikes … PS! Been thinking of Supertrap for this bike.
@bikerbeliever8169
@bikerbeliever8169 3 жыл бұрын
The fuel gauge on this bike shouldnt be a deal breaker. The range is easily 250 miles unless you flog it constantly. When the warning reserve light comes on you can figure 50 to 70 miles depending on how you ride, so plenty of time to find a gas station typically unless you are in the desert or something. The R Nine T, though I have not rode it yet, is going to be a much faster bike, but its typically lot more expensive, and Ive heard from others that it has some shaft jacking, which you wont get with the v7, or shouldnt. I know the R Nine T, depending on taste, has a great sound as well and Im sure has a ton of feel and character just like the v7. Its probably from a consumer perspective going to boil down to whether or not you want that extra horsepower and different sound as well as if you want to dish out several more grand unless you find a good used one in good shape.

Hi Tom, I’ve just bought a V7 centennial model. Delivery mid October. As I see it, with a 20 ltr tank it’ll will give you great Mileage. When the low fuel light comes on you still have at least 50 kms range ,maybe more.. Where I live ( Johannesburg) there’s plenty of petrol stations. When I take delivery I’ll obviously fill the tank up,trip computer zero and see what happens. I also looked at the BMW R nine . Probably a better machine but the Guzzi has CHARACTER 😎
@TomVestvik
@TomVestvik 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your answers. I’ve been thinking of this lately, and I’m pretty sure the lack of a fuel gauge isn’t going to be a serious issue. I’ve been wanting a V7 for a few years now, and a more relaxed bike like this probably would do me well. The large fuel tank, shaft drive, and the relaxed engine characteristic have been pulling me in the direction of this bike. I’m living in Norway, and hope to one day take a bike way east of Europe. 🙏🏻

@@TomVestvik morning Tom, I’d be interested in your decision , model , colour chosen etc . The Centennial version I ordered is standard , no extras . A few comments are to fit a ‘louder’ exhaust . I personally can’t see the point in that . Buy a Harley for a loud exhaust ! Good luck Tom

The sidestand tang can be bent out a little bit to make it easier to engage. If you think that road is bad don't come to Calif. Lean angle? I have a V7lll Special and I haven't even come close to dragging footpegs. I am not really aggressive rider but I am not a sissy rider either. Enjoy your bike I love mine for local riding, I have a big block Guzzi for long distance riding. My only gripe is the gear case whine can be obnoxious at times. Once you get more used to your bike neutral is easy to find in fact one of the easiest of all the bikes I have ridden. It just takes a soft touch.
@bikerbeliever8169
@bikerbeliever8169 3 жыл бұрын
I dont mean the lean angle is bad, its just not superb. I drag it a lot, but Im not aggressive rider, just spirited at times. Trust me you would have to feel the road to realize how bad some of them are. Not every one of them, but that back road I was on was like I was rock crawling, the video dont show it at all. I love the bike it is awesome, Im riding it a lot more now that the sun is finally staying out for us.

Ive rode the Harley street and the Moto guzzi v7 imo is a muchhhh better bike. I didnt hate the Harley street but it is not even close to as nice as the Moto Guzzi and the Guzzi Im pretty sure is going to be quicker. The Harley Street revs a little better, but dont have as good of a feel from the motor, not as grunty feeling imo. I have not rode the sv650 so I cant comment on it. I think the Guzzi looks better, the sv650 is more naked sport bike kind of, so Id imagine its going to be a quicker machine, probably better lean angle, easier to turn in etc. The v7 does handle good though and to me I feel like its effortless to get the bike to turn in and lot of fun.

However, I would say that Paris is meant to be pronounced as 'Pari', Berlin as 'Bairlinn' and Reims as 'Raaaa'... the point is nobody does it. Here in the UK where Moto Guzzis have been relatively common since the 70s, they are always known as Guzzies. Anyone pronouncing it 'Gootsi' (short oo) would be considered almost as pretentious as someone pronouncing 'spaghetti' with an Italian accent.

Wow. Are you not aware that we have a federal government? The stupid turn signals are mandated by the DOT. Our outdated specs are based on square inches, not the light volume. Same with the taillight. Look at the European version of this bike and you’ll see how it was designed to be. As for the gear indicator, it is not a switch and contact affair like some bikes have. It CALCULATES the gear based on math. It uses rpm vs speed to figure it out. Of course it can’t calculate anything with the clutch pulled because you are not “in any gear” as far as the bike can tell. Dragging your foot is because you point your toes at the ground. Learn to ride like an Italian, or any racer. Put the ball of your foot on the peg, not the arch. The government also mandates the sound. So none of your complaints are caused by Moto Guzzi. I know this is an old video so I hope you have learned how to pronounce it.
