I just love that metal finish! Avionics have sure changed since the 1970s. Love the prop pitch control too!

The parachute is a huge consideration of mine as well. For that 10 seconds or so on departure, if you lose your engine sometimes the only option is the trees...a ballistic parachute would be a life saver in that circumstance for sure!

And it runs on mogas which is no small advantage. It has good qualities but the real crime is that there is no competition for it. a Cirrus SR20 has similar speed but it's 525k base and they yanked the engine from a 1950 ford tractor. And the plane weighs a literal ton. There should be several 915 based 4 seaters. Factory built, certified and all composite. For 200 grand or less. With the tiniest bit of series production optimization in mind, it must simply be possible to do vastly cheaper than Cirrus. These planes are relatively simple vehicles and 200 grand is real money. Fiber and resin can be borderline dirt cheap. Rotax is unfortunately douchy about the price of the 915 but even if you have to contend with that, it should be possible to make a plane for a decent price. Even 100k. Single piece fuselage must simply be possible to make for very little money, considering a complex composite canoo can be had for 2 grand retail.

YO Mike! Whats the story with 1MG being at my home airport in PA? I've seen it outside a few times and just looked at the tail number. Thought it looked familiar

Does the rotax run equally well on 100LL? Do you have challenges finding automotive gas at airports during cross country trips?

I think the 3 blade prop really dresses it up. Wonder if having the parachute makes your insurance cheaper?

True 4 seater is the killer feature. I know how difficult it is to keep the weight and balance right on a Piper Archer III. Great video. Thanks!

It is my understanding that you can get your IFR rating in the Sling TSI. It is also my understanding that you can not fly IFR in an Sling TSI. Are you allowed to fly through the clouds in your Sling TSI if you have your IFR rating? Also, what is the reason behind not being able to fly IFR flight?
@mojogrip2 жыл бұрын
I have my IFR rating in the Sling TSi and I’ve flown several trips in instrument in the Sling TSi

Always good to have your feedback. Btw, the CO detector on the roof is useless as CO is heavier than air and will fill your cabin before your detector can see it
@nickwilson94902 жыл бұрын
It’s fine on the roof. The Vapor density of CO is just slightly less than one, meaning it’s just a bit lighter in air. In reality, because the density is so close, it mixes with air readily. Therefore, put the CO monitor wherever you want and it will work fine.
