If you do make the choice not to return to work after this pregnancy- make sure you check your contract with regards to repayment. For example, for those of us working for the NHS, we need to return to work for a minimum of 3 months. If we don’t we’re obliged to repay the maternity pay.

Thank you so much for creating these videos. I am pregnant with my first and your videos seem to be the most genuine and useful! I am bingeing these while "working from home" haha.

I think there's something special about announcing the name after birth 🥰

I really wish I had watched more videos about having a second child when I was pregnant with my first. There is just so much anxiety with the first baby that was not necessary!

The chancellor announced changes to childcare today, finally!! From April next year all 2 year olds can claim 15 hours, and by September 2025 all children under 5 can claim 30 hours funded if both parents are working 16 hours a week. Xx

I too am Rhesus negative and my little girl was positive so had to have Anti D injection 💉..... when I was told, I did the age old thing and googled it.... read up about Rhesus disease in babies, got myself in such a state, crying on the phone to my midwife 🙈 we all do it! 😊 You are blooming Shan and love this approach to your 2nd pregnancy, I've learned so much after having my 1st child.... would definitely do things bit different next time knowing what I now know! Xx ❤

I completely agree with your choice of not sharing your little girls name before she's here. I had similar with my Thomas. Everyone literally called him Thomas from Thomas the tank engine and he got loads of presents related to thomas the tank engine and it made me regret the name a bit and other comments saying it's so boring and not unique 🙄 I'm sure you've got an amazing name for her. I love all your videos and you look great xx

100% all of this. I'm pregnant with my 2nd, currently 30 weeks and I just started buying stuff. I also took my time deciding what I actually need and not what everyone pressures you to buy. I am so much more calm about it all, I know every baby is different, but basically I can keep a small human alive and should trust my instincts and my body more this time. I didn't tell anyone the name last time until our girl had arrived and I'm doing the same this time. I am more mentally prepared and will have a 2 week window of no-guests-please so I can take this moment and enjoy the new addition to our family (it's just my preference for privacy, which I didn't have the first time around). You're glowing and I wish you a safe and happy pregnancy x

OMG. I’m so so happy I subscribed to you a while back before I’d gotten pregnant. Everything you’re saying you done in your first pregnancy is what I’m doing during my pregnancy currently 😭😭. I’m a first time mum to be, 33 weeks today! so it’s all so daunting, I really needed to see/hear this video honestly. thank you so much ❤😆 X

I had a little boy just after you and now having a little girl just after you! 🥰 I did the sneak peek test but it was right for me! I told my close family the most likely name last time and had the same sort of comments. It’s now his name and everyone likes it so I think we’ll just keep the name completely secret this time when we’ve chosen it! I feel like everyone knows everything else anyway and you almost know roughly what they’ll look like when you’ve already had one so the name will be the only surprise ☺️

I’m also on Omeprazole since 24 weeks (now 28) after putting up with horrendous reflux in my first, so bad that towards the end I had to sleep sitting up… OMG, life saving! And I’m a nurse, I just wish I wasn’t so stubborn first time around and asked for a prescription instead of just downing Gaviscon every 5min with minimal relief. I’m also still lifting very heavy as part of my exercise routine (definitely scaling down from my usual, but still) and ignoring all the comments from people who don’t understand that it is absolutely safe for me and baby to do it. But I think hindsight and confidence from having grown and birthed my wonderful 2 year old helps a lot! ☺️

In our first pregnancy We decided to only tell our parents the name we’d chosen, unfortunately we never got to meet our little one but We did the same during our second pregnancy and we were met with my MIL saying “that’s nice, I never liked the name you had picked out last time”. And just like that, We’ll never share baby names with anyone again x

Great video Shan! It’s so amazing to see how confident you are as a mum. I was very similar to you with my first pregnancy, too much time / lockdown and googling things. It’s great to hear how it’s different for you in your second pregnancy. Was there a point with George where you started to feel more confident? I know you mentioned the meltdown he had at 18 months! Thanks x

I had 6 months full pay from work but I asked my husband to top up to my full pay once the salary started decreasing. I asked because I feel like the father/husband should take this financial burden while any woman is pregnant. If I had to do the saving myself it would feel like my being used because I am pregnant but I don’t see why I should be punished for being a woman and having a child. Hope it makes sense. I think fathers should recognise that.

So interesting about George’s name. We’ve had weird looks and rude comments about my daughter’s name as it’s quite non-traditional, I never imagined people would do it from the other side as well!! People are so rude sometimes xxx

Ugh, the anti d injection! It totally makes sense to have it if you need it, like in your situation, but they also basically insisted I had it with my first pregnancy too. I totally didn't need it, I'm O-, my husband is A-, there's no possibility anyone else is the father. It's being offered again, because it's so important if you need it, but I think this time I'll refuse..

in the country i live in they test the baby's blood type around week 24, and only give it if you actually need it. Its just a simple blood-test, so that makes more sense to me! I am A- and my partner is A+, so I'm likely to need it again this time.
@Toriapardoe
@Toriapardoe Жыл бұрын
@@Nor89 That makes so much more sense! Here in the UK it's very much "you have it if you have a negative blood type" regardless of the father... But if you're certain they're negative too then it's unnecessary

Hi Shan, I have been enjoying your videos for months. And I remember few years back you mentioned one app that helps people to use buckets for budgeting, like one box is for gifts, another for emergencies etc. You said in that video that people can actually create as many buckets/boxes they want and it was so helpful to manage and organise expenses. Can you please tell me what app it was? Was searching in your older videos but could not find that video. Thank you ❤

We had someone who was annoyed we weren't telling anyone my little girls name whilst I was pregnant and then they named her whilst I was pregnant and would refer to them as this nickname it was so odd. Like you don't have the right just because you're cross we won't share the name 😂 🙈 drove me and my partner mad because we hated it and it began with the same letter of the name we had picked and we were sooo concerned that they would continue to use the name they had made up in protest once she actually arrive. In the end my partner asked them to stop in my third trimester and thankfully I've never heard this person refer to my daughter as the wrong name 🙈 despite that we won't be sharing our name with a second either and we'll just be a lot less patient if anyone tried to name our unborn child 😂

13 weeks pregnant with my second, deffo no time to feel sorry for myself with an almost 4 year old to look after 🤣 on cylizine now, didn’t know that was an option with my first! been on omeprazole for about 5 years due to another health issue😅 Opposite cravings so think baby 2 will be a girl 🥰 1st pregnancy the nursery was probably all planned by now.. not even giving it a thought for ages with the 2nd🤣
