Hi Lucy, could you share with us what were those transferable skills you had from studying Mars to Nuclear Waste Management? I am about to start my PhD soon and I hope to work on as much transferable skills as I can to avoid being stuck in an overspecialized rut.
@thomasp49024 жыл бұрын
Because they bury the waste underground in containers. It needs sorting into high and low level waste first but they'll get robots to do that :) You could just make your phD take a direction that leads you into a job field you want to work in.
@comebackata24 жыл бұрын
@@thomasp4902 yes you can plan far ahead but life rarely falls into place. Especially when the world is changing at an ever growing pace. So like, where is that balance between breadth and depth? (open question for anyone who wants to answer)

Hey Lucy, I was wondering if I could ask you what is the appropriate academic title to use in applications (in English) for a scholarship. I am an Italian PhD student (lasting three years) in the field of Ancient History (translation and study of texts in Latin and ancient Greek) and in Italy my academic title is "Doctor". In an English-speaking academic environment, what would be the most appropriate title for a first-year PhD student in Humanities' field? Thank you P.S. Congratulations on the channel!

It might be better to approach your phD as a series of mini projects rather than one single PhD, that way you are less likely to have an incomplete project :)
