I lived in the southern United States for 10 years and I did get into the habit (screaming and kicking) of wearing plastic shoes in the summer time. Nothing else would survive the rains and I did not want to walk bare foot or in dripping wet shoes. I finally settled on a pair of Crocs (yes), but they are the slim slippers type in nude tones. When I was tired of feeling like a savage, II would go out wearing proper shoes and carry the slippers in my purse. When a downpour occured, I would do a quick swap. It works, because the rains are as brief as they are apocalyptic and the sun dries the puddles off soon enough.

Hi Nada, that was brilliant, love it! I get worked up about trends too, especially Crocs! What is it with these shoes? I can kind of understand it for kids, they’re colourful, easy to slip on, but for adults? A friend makes a point of wearing his when I visit, just so he can see my face! Also, you whispering “tunics” made my day. Just as well we can laugh about this stuff. And just as well we’re all different. Keep up the good work.

I like a lightweight "kimono" duster. I live in a hot climate & jackets are often too warm as a 2nd layer so cotton or rayon dusters & crochet cardigans are a good option. Even swimsuit coverups work. The key to Boho, especially when you're older, is not going for anything too shapeless, too short or too busy. You don't want to look like you're going to Coachella, wearing your daughter's dress or wearing a 70s costume. Mix it up with more modern pieces. I don't mind a tunic if it has some shape & isn't too long or oversized. It should hit high hip & have a curved hem. Just long enough to tuck or belt.

I just found your site and LOVE that you call a spade a spade!! I have these same thoughts about the state of fashion right now but if I say them out loud people look at me like I am an alien!! I am starting to think that retails/designers believe that we will spend our money on anything that they put in front of us. I initially thought some of these styles-pull on pants, patchwork ,etc. were the result of post -COVID supply chain issues and I didn't purchase them back then. Totally work in the "buy better, buy less" mindset. Can't ever imagine myself thinking "Oh, I really need to add some rubber shoes to my wardrobe." Thank you for your perspectives and for helping me to know that I am NOT alone in my thoughts. Looking forward to exploring your site more and to future videos!

Thank you so much for this sweet comment! I have often been accused of being too blunt with my fashion edicts but I think it’s important to call out the things that I know won’t serve my audience. I hope you enjoy the rest of the videos!

I think a lot of these things are just things that require a bit of thought to styling and can't look good worn lazily but people are inclined to be thinking they can be worn lazily. Like the example you gave of a patchwork print worn with white trousers...its a lazy choice. Give it to someone else to style and maybe they make something of it.

I would love to see a session on matchy matchy. I went to donate blood several years back and one of the workers said, "Oh! You look so matchy matchy." I could tell by her tone that was not a good thing. And then I started watching fashion channels. So how much is enough, and how much is too much?" I think most of our fashion baize comes from our childhoods where we were taught, that doesn't match, those are high water pants, or small prints are for old ladies. Hard to overcome those ingrained thoughts. Your channel is a big help. I also think some of the newer trends are from people who did not grow up seeing these styles in action so have no preconceived thoughts about them. And so they think this is new so it is cool!?

Border prints actually come from traditional ethnic clothing. Aztec, Eastern European, Easter Asian and many many more. It has a deep cultural meaning - it has protective powers for the wearer. Women decorated edges because free edges were believed to be exposing to evil.
@vaderladyl6 ай бұрын
And those are never dated. They are beautiful and timeless.
@yensid42943 ай бұрын
Ok, so I definitely lean Boho, especially in prints. I love India Prints, Aztec, Ethic Prints, Asian Florals, florals & paisley. I also like embroidery & lace & fringe, Border prints often look great when used as or paired with any of those. The size & colors of the print matter. I'm not rocking a hot pink & turquoise border print on a white poly tunic. Rich color combos or vibrant colors on black look amazing with a border print accent, especially in a skirt. Preferably in cotton, gauze, rayon, silk or wool. Chiffon is ok too. Not super big on patchwork but it could work nicely with a border print if it doesn't look too granny quilt. I'm never going to be a Classic or a minimalist. I like what I like.

We just have to ignore so many current styles. Baggy jeans barrel jeans, are just awful and so unflattering, no matter what we are told. Straight legs, slim fit are better. As you get older classics are classier. Flip flops will kill you, you flip, you flop. I need shoes that give me stability and hug the foot. I haven't found many styles this year that get me excited. For those of us who live in the southeast US, I think a versatile short sleeve jacket is a necessity if we want to layer. Also, I am a Skechers fan because they offer good support at a reasonable price and lots of styles. They have come out with “foamies” rubber shoes. Some resemble crocs and some look like sneakers. I found a pair of sandals I like. Tunics are ok if they are cut straight, but spare me the ones gathered in the front.

I’d love a summer video showing us some modern glamorous wraps / cover ups / kimonos to wear over our bathing suit. I’m having trouble finding cute ones that don’t look like long shirts, or like a sheer lingerie robe or boring house robe. I have a printed suit and am looking for a long sleeve, ankle length wrap for the beach that is old Hollywood glam but modern! Maybe there are shorter versions too that you could find and have enough material to make a full video on it. I loved your recent swimsuit video that had a few cover up ideas, but we want more! All your videos are fantastic so yes please, do one on matchy-matchy, I was brought up in Italy in the 70s and we did match everything, it was seen as being classy. As a petite person, it's very tempting to go for monochrome and then match shoes/belt/bag, etc. and definitely no more than 3 colours overall. Also in winter when you're wearing a coat, do you match shoes/scarf/hat, etc. to the coat or to what you're wearing underneath and you will see when the coat comes off? Or do you simply solve this by matching outfit and coat? Thank you so much Nada

I. Loved. My. Jellie. Shoes. I bought a couple of pair about ten years ago. They were entertaining and sparkly and soft, and the lattice was tight enough that there wasn't a lot of ugly flesh squish, so I thought I could handle them. Guys. Remember when we were kids and our jellies would snap, bit by bit, until they were clinging to our feet by the grace of one or two surviving strands, and you just prayed you'd make it home before they came off like retreads on the highway? They still do that.
