yep, cheap, help in bad planets with +% habability (cheaper pop and more resources production), + in pop, for cyborgs crazy bonus pop growth + assembly. Help with amenities, stable planet = better planet bonus. Crazy are strange belief for years that it is a bad building. Like here Strat counts the growth bonus, which is bad, but by the way, take every other growth bonus anyway, because cumulatively it's a crazy bonus for me Holotheart is bad bcs dont give you thats bonus like geneclinic, Is smth like adaptive is bad, but when you play basic human UNE or CoM is good and helping on early game 😂 or trade, for years every video how trade is ugly but in this same time i saw many games or video how they playing trade empire. They seem to count every single thing, but who needs a building that increases so many things?

Just a note about this, do not have your fleets leave the system before your armies are done invading (for example, say your armies are just mopping up planets with few to no defense armies so you don't need to bombard them), as aggressive stance armies stop following when invading and only resume following after they finish all possible invasions within the system, and since they only automatically start following fleets within the same system as them they will not resume following your fleets if they left during the invasions.

Defense platforms are actually clutch. As Tsun Tzu said, the wise warrior only attacks from a position of absolute safety. Once defeat is impossible, victory is inevitable. Defense Platforms have one massive advantage over ships: They do not consume naval capacity. Yes, on their own they are lackluster, but with the Unyielding tree they become a real issue. I've won games because of a few good bastions kitted to the gills with defense platforms. You use your defense platforms so that you can attack while not being attackable. It forces your opponent to mass his entire fleet into one great stack to smash through a single bastion, which will incur heavy losses on his part. When he does, you can jump him with your fleets and fight at a huge advantage thanks to starbase buffs. I've also won several wars because of this, since later on you can set gateways at each bastion and have your fleets on standby to converge if he tries to go in. It's bait. Not building a bastion at your entrances renders you vulnerable to your opponent splitting his fleets into small clusters and just rampaging through your territory while your larger fleets struggle to track each of them down. Having strong bastions stops them from backdooring you while you try to assault them. I have won several wars on my bastions because when at war on two fronts I can actually afford to leave my own borders since they physically cannot get past The Wall.tm And lastly if you are attacked by a superior force, you can just wait them out.

Yeah, I've literally stone walled FEs in the mid game purely because a maxed out bastion citadel + my navy added up to enough fleet power that the FE was unwilling to enter that system, and since I had these bastions in every entrance to my territory with gateways connecting all of them, I could actually outrun the FE fleets when they tried to go to another entrance. Which allowed me to status quo the wars that I should've been effortlessly steamrolled in. Also there is one reason why defense platforms are the best thing in existence, they can be built on outposts are pretty fast and cheap to build, so if you get the asteroid primitive event you can just build a single defense platform and it'll solo the asteroid without you needing to send a fleet over, which is pretty useful in the early game when you lack gateways/hyper relays to quickly move around.

Controlling the L-Cluster with a citadel and 3 planetary rings in Terminal Egress, with unyielding and maxed out defence platforms is amazing. Make each of the planets a bastion and fill it to the brim with armies. Reinforce with a few fleets in orbit to add to the defensive wall (or better yet sit them on the hyperlane one jump over, move your capital further into the cluster, then build the Aetherosphasic engine. As someone who’s been playing since release, it’s great. Stellaris changes more between major patches than most early access games do across their entire development cycle. When you look at it that way, the dlc is a fairly reasonable price to pay for a continuously evolving game. HOWEVER, I do often wonder what it must be like for people who haven’t been there from the start. You have to learn a lot of systems at once and you don’t have context for a lot of the smaller details because so much has been jumbled around.

same, i recently started again after 3 years... while the game has a lot of content now, i find the game to be super messy. Like, you spend 3 hours slowly colonizing your part of space. Then suddenly you have others pops from the entire galaxy in your systems although you didn't even do diplomacy and you end up colonizing 20 new planets suddenly without needing technology, only because you have these pops you didn't ask in the first place. it makes the game messy, kinda confusing and too fast. Removes the slow progression that should come with the slow research progression. Automated sectors are still as broken as 1.0.

Planetary automation is actually pretty simple to use just watch Montu plays video on it he does a very good job of explaining this. I used planetary automation on my first three playthroughs of Stellaris ( I'm a new player ( and with the guidance of Montu plays I was able to use planetary automation optimally. It became especially helpful in the mid-to-late game when I had too many planets and habitats to manage properly. Also if you set things up right you can make so certain planetary automation settings are set as a default for all new colonies so you don't have to do the 10 clicks that strat claims you have to do for every single planet. note that on account of a more recent update there is no longer a planetary automation stockpile and therefore you can no longer build buildings using energy so you cannot exploit the economic savings that would come from that gimmick.
@AndrewTheUltraBoss99
@AndrewTheUltraBoss99 Жыл бұрын
automation is good when you play wide and you seriously have too many planets. in that case, if you need minerals, food or energy (or even a forge), you can set up automations in like 4 or 5 clicks max and leave the planet to it's demise. it will be easier to play like that and it will probably gain you something passively.
@Elthenar
@Elthenar Жыл бұрын
@@AndrewTheUltraBoss99 It's especially easy when you have an empire that only uses so many resources. Like machines and energy or Lithoids and minerals. Automation can be a boost but you have to use it intelligently.

Planetary automation is completely fine. Just make sure you give the planet a designation, instead of allowing it to auto-designate. Set it to a Generator World, or a Mining or whatever world, and then turn on the automation. Automation does a very good job with very little need to micro afterwards.

Maybe I'm wrong and this is my utopian bias talking, but I feel like the optimal amenities value is a bit above zero rather than zero. You should probably build just enough holo theaters to not be below zero while employing no clerks, but since that pretty much never is the exact right amount for zero, I think you might as well have the extra entertainer jobs working. In practical terms, this does two things, it gives you some margin for error to keep you away from negative and the small happiness bonus makes the rest of your pops a little bit more productive.

RoI is 10 years but if you put it early on an energy or forge world or one with a bunch of pops already there (like your capital for example) 1 pop being busy building robots doesn't sound too bad? Deference platforms aren't that bad yeah they can't retreat but think of it more like making your shield bigger very useful early to maybe mid game but their bigger use is to be bullet bait/support for the main fleet. Keep your fleet outside of the system waiting to come in, enemy warps in then you order you fleet to come in and engage the enemy fleet right over your starbase. You're fleet now acts like the new bullet bait while the starbase superior fire power in early game picks off the enemy fleet then repairs what remains of your fleet. You're not free to push into enemy territory if you desire.

Even I've had to pause a bit to grasp your meaning on certain concepts. If you want, you could look at doing part 1 and part 2 clips if you want to slow down your points a little longer so the slower audience can catch up. To be fair I find planetary automation satisfying if I just go through the hassle of manually setting planet designation, because by the midgame I just get to a point where I’m constantly cycling between two dozen colonies as they keep running out of jobs and/or need capital upgrades. Just give 10k between energy and minerals to each sector and then set a monthly common stockpile and never have to worry about this again (mostly)

With over 1180 Hours playtime: I disagree with 11 since the defense platforms do not coun't toward naval cap, if you build tall, turteling with them is a viable strategy especially early and mid game, with the right build, even early lategame (a 150k Station is possible). 12 Pop happiness is actually pretty important, as these increase stability and job output by a non-niglible amount

Cant you just tell your planets not to automate Stability or Amentities, and itll be fine? I learned that the hard way and it seemed to work wonders.

Best not to have amenities jobs available at all. I was trying to stabilize a planet with 56 crime last night, when I took a better look at the jobs and realised that I had pops working clerk, with 3 enforcer jobs open. Very unimpressed.

this is my personal take on this list: 1. i love to survey manually in a specific way that is kinda similar to the Hamiltonian path, kinda like a minor brain exercise. plus i only do auto research once i get to the repeatable techs. 2. with my main empire setup i never have to deal with trade or trade adjacent so I'll take your word for it. 3. i agree, i actually give the "build speed" techs priority over any other technology, especially early game. COMAND AND CONQUAR! no thanks. 4. i rarely experience deficits of resources so all i can say is: ew, never sell alloys. 5. i also agree with this, particularly in the early game too mid game, before all your early planets are filled with pops. also don't forget to set planet specialization! 6.as obvious as it is, it's a good thing to know anyway. 7. i never go over the leader cap and it's uncommon for me to go over the naval cap because i really only focus military when i have to (unless in a multiplayer game lol) 8. never used it, never going too, never needed too. next! 9.i don't use it much myself but would recommend using hotkeys whenever possible. 10. hotkeys again, use them. 11. i only use defense platforms on choke-points and/or anything upgraded more then a Starbase. 12. i always strive for surplus amenities for a handful of reason including but not limited too: lore reasons, the mentioned minor bonus, etc. 13. never have to do it so i can't say much on this one. 14. i always strive for deviancy 0 but i don't mind the lore implications of robots disobeying the collective. 15. once again, never deal with trade so nothing to say. 16. i agree, build gateways, at first from your home system to the border, chokepoints, etc. 17. trade, i don't do it. 18. shattering worlds is generally against my collective so making a 15k+ army is an eventual must. 19 ITS, THE, ONLY, THING, I, CAN, DO, for my main species anyway, but my boi-trophies and another story. 20. never can so i guess got nothing to say on it. 21. yup, always read the fine print. 22. i always strive for custodianship, never crisis so i never have an issue. 23. if ever were to need to use a colossus i always use the global pacifier. and finally yes i am subscribed and i would recommend you reading this right now to do so aswell.

Gene clinics are actually ok. KomradTruck actually builds them in some MP games when playing Bio empire because they are good in certain situations, and he is one of the best MP players. For example, the amenities they give are worthwhile as having more amenities than you need is not a very significant benefit. Holo-theaters will give significantly more amenities than you require, and the benefits from gene clinics are mostly better than 1 unity in a lot of situations. On a new colony, you can build gene clinics as one of the first buildings for example, and they will immediately give more pop growth than the worthless colonizer jobs, while the amenities they provide are enough for quite some time (10 for two, which is enough for 8 extra pops, which then you can distribute luxury goods and build luxury residences to keep this up without further wasting jobs on amenities).

The bonus happiness from amenities, 5% buff to habitability, and the 10% pop growth all come out to a much greater positive than you imply. TL;DR i build-a da geneclinics I dont know why meta spazzes continue to clam that they're not worth anything because muh "10%" like we're still playing back in the era of Apocalypse or Megacorp. Also youre smoking crack. The massive stability benefits from high amenities are godlike and if youre actually sleeping on them you need to get your brain checked mah dude.

What only happend to the unique mix of 4x and grand strategy game I got many years ago? I've hundereds of hours into it but I actually can't get into since the change of how planet management works. Everytime I go back another layer of complexity has been added and a bunch new stats and modifiers I have no clue of how to use them. Also all the DLCs and story packs create a constant stream of messages and overlapping event chains that are more or less impossible to follow and this on slow speed! I DON'T EFFING CARE about that latest of the 20 ongoing +2% here and -3% there votes of galatic council. What I do notice though is when for no obvious reason a friendly neigbor empire suddenly closes it's borders so my explorers get stuck. Turns out space amoebas were declared to be purged in an emergency vote which I didn't do cause I like them. So I got -100 diplomatic malus and so the neightbor closed its borders. So I just left the galatic council altogether to stop these annoyance but of course the -100 malus for breaking galatic law got simply replaced by a new -75 of leaving the council. Sorry, I don't find this to be fun!

-Defence platforms are good when you have to face superior oponent or to hold key systems like L-gates or most important Terminal egress, whoever holds the egress holds the galaxy by the balls, more than half of biggest MP battles I seen were to take terminal egress so having superfortress with maxed out platforms is mandatory there, meanwhile spaming 4 platforms everywhere is just plain waste of resources as they contribute nothing. -Having extra amenities is good, I will gladly spend 2 pops on theatre duty to get 10% more production from ALL jobs on the planet thanks to increased stability. -Do rush pop assembly, pops are the rarest and most important resource in the game, and getting effective 50% increase to pop growth is massive. -F*ck the gene clinics and trade mechanic, I refuse to even touch trading without mods fixing disconected trade stations and removing piracy, and even then it is trash compared to even mining and selling minerals at the markets casue you still get more energy than from "trading".
