Something worth pointing out is the level of Aggro pokemons have. Some are pretty obvious like Starlies being skiddish and Shinx being prone to fight you, but you wouldn't believe when I tell ya a Paras will spot you from very far away and immediatly become hellbent on your demise. Also, Machokes are totally chill xD

Something I noticed that I haven't seen anyone else mention, is that when you throw the Pokeball, a tall hop means it may not capture, but a short hop of the ball is always a capture. Not really a useful thing I guess, since you can't do anything to change that, but it's nice to know if you caught it a second or two early so you can ready another ball quicker and chain it into oblivion

And sometimes when you throw the ball (only recommend doing this with one of your pokemon, otherwise you waste balls) you might teleport up the hill a little bit. Even before getting wyrdeer you can get basically everywhere in the obsidian fieldlands (except the top of oreburrow cave and the islands) and after getting wyrdeer you can go literally everywhere except the two large islands at the bottom of the map and the island at the centre of the western lake. one thing you missed; if you initiate combat by a critical throw(aka back stab) then other pokemon aggroing you will leave, leaving you to fight that one mon alone. Specially useful for trying to catch alphas surrounded by adds or in distortions. Also, it's not that you can switch mons for free; switching still costs action speed, it's just that it works like a quick attack with a very high speed modifier, so in most cases it'll be getting you an extra turn... but if you were already on the 2nd move in a row, the enemy is much faster than the mon you're taking out, or they just used an agile move, chances are it won't be enough and the turn will carry over, plus if you had 2 turns in a row, the swap will likely consume one of them.

For those grinding with the Blissey, it's only really efficient until about level 80. After that I personally recommend going for the Alpha Garchomp who is at the bottom left of the final area. It is level 85 and gives pretty solid exp all the way up to 100. Just bring a good ice type that can 1 shot cuz it does hit back pretty hard.

Been playing since it came out, some things I’ve noticed as well. -The mistwalls on the edge of the map block out MOST things, but light effects go straight through. Nice for finding spirit flakes. -Pokeballs have historically, for me, had a higher catchrate when youre just throwing them at wild pokemon out of battle than great balls. -Ultra balls work on boss pokemon out of battle -Trust your instincts when throwing pokeballs at least once or twice, its a very nice skill to have when they are too far to auto target -Cherrim and cherrubi are nearly impossible to find, because they have very set spawn locations. Look them up -The starters you dont get show up in the distortions, cyndaquil in the mirelands, rowlette in the first mountainous area that I cant remember the name of, and oshawott somewhere else. Also a good thing to look up. -piplup and turtwig both spawn around their own little ponds in the mirelands

I'd like to mention another way to catch Alphas, since this video seems to not think it's a possibility. When I first encountered an Eevee I saw that one of its Pokédex tasks was to feed it 5 times. I had no idea how to feed wild Pokémon yet because the game hadn't said anything about it, so I googled it. Then maybe an hour later I saw my first Alpha. I pretty much always feed every wild Pokémon that I'm trying to catch, including Alphas. You absolutely CAN feed an Alpha and catch it while it's eating. You do not have to stun them or enter enter battle. Plus, feeding the alphas requires only a single food item (I generally use Oran Berries since those are so easily accessible) as opposed to 3-4 Sticky Globs just to stun the Pokémon once.

The symbols to the right of your attacks during battle also show if the move is effective or not. The dot is neutral, the dot with the circle is super effective, and the triangle is not very effective. Then there's an x which is null. So if you don't need the description of the move you don't have to press y to view effectiveness.

You still need to push Y because almost every single attack has changed greatly. The attack power is different for every move Accuracy is different for every move Augmenting moves changes those values even further And statuses dont function the same anymore either. This is a video for tips we wish we knew at the start of the game, not tips we wish we knew after beating the game. None of us started off knowing that every attack was changed greatly. Additionally, levels dont matter very much in pokemon battles anymore. I ran this game with pokemon 10-25 levels higher than the enemies I was against, and they could still 1-shot me, they could still outspeed me, and I couldn't one-shot them even with super effective attacks. There were times when my level 50 couldn't 1-shot a level 3. There were times when pokemon half or a third my level were dealing half my life in damage from very weak attacks. So levels dont matter much at all, Sure, you have an advantage for being a higher level, but its not near what you think it is. In normal pokemon games, being 5 levels above the enemy guaranteed that you would win except for very powerful pokemon like elite 4 or gym leaders main pokemon. But in this, you don't have to be afraid to battle the level 30-45 Alpha pokemon with your team of level 10s. You can win. Pokemon that get knocked out wont get experience though, so weigh the risk reward. And be very careful dying, because its way worse in this game than any other game, normally you just lose money, but in this game you lose your revives and ultra balls too. Something else I wish i knew, at a certain point, im not sure when, you talk to the professor in jubilife city, he gives you theo ther starter pokemon. Maybe you have to complete the main storyline, but you should look it up to know exactly when you can trigger this, I didnt even try until I was already done with the game. Theres a flying gyarados flying over the waterfall in obsidian firelands. If you have the swimming mount from the 3rd area, you should go back to the firelands, and you can capture level 50 Alpha Magikarp that is auto-catch, cant escape, and cant win a fight against you, then you auto evolve it into a level 50 Alpha Gyarados, which will be strong enough to carry you through the entire rest of the game, because the highest level enemy you can ever fight is only in their 60s and thats post game content. There are level 70 wild pokemon and legendaries, but by the time you get to that point your level 50 Alpha will be 80. there's a level 85 Alpha Garchomp in the alabastar place, capture it as soon as you can, its the most powerful pokemon in the game next to Arceus. Obviousl theres tons of other level 70 Alphas, but i'm just pointing out the strongest one, and the easiest one, that you can acquire easily to carry you. I don't know if you can catch it, but theres an alpha zoroark that guards one of the lake spirits. Look up if you can catch it or not, because, i have never found another one and i knocked it out by accident. Dont bother buying evolution items. Just run into time distortions and mount up and run through it picking up items, you can loot items without dismounting. Do this and you'll have tons of free evolution items. By the time I got enough back packs to buy something, I already had 3 of everything from time distortion events, you dont need to be afraid of high level pokemon, just run through looting the shards on the ground. And buy the recipe for Star Piece, it uses 3 of each shard and 1 stardust to make star piece which sells for 5000. You can also find nuggets which sell for 10,000, and i'm not sure how but I managed to find comets too that sell for 15,000. You can sell most of your star dust because you wont get very many shards, but always leave yourself with like 10 star dust and sell the rest for max profits. towards the end of the game materials dont cost much. You can buy 100 of apricorns, tumblestone, black tumblestone, and it will only be a few thousand each. buying 100 of the iron will cost you 20,000, which is how you can make 50 ultra balls. Once you have 100,000 dollars, i'd say prices dont matter to you anymore aside from the experience candies which I only used to evolve espeon umbreon and sylveon. Theres an evee that spawns directly left of the very first area in obsidian firelands, right past the shinx. it always spawns. Farm it to get your team of Eevees to start the game with, who needs starter pokemon? When you can have 6 eevees as your starter. You can also catch them in time distortion events.

Another tip I think is REALLY good for early game is there's a quest where a guy in the village tells you about a game you can play in the practice field. If you do that game which is a target practice one depending on your score you can get really good items early on like sticky globs and great and ultra balls. Even nuggets and stardust to help with your money situation. I did that game enough times that I had over 60 great balls and around 40 ultra balls before you can even get them (depending on your rank) in game to craft. Like before you even go to the Crimson Mirelands early. You just get a wide variety of useful items and the game doesn't really tell you about it

@darknesswave100
@darknesswave100 2 жыл бұрын
@@meo2640 yeah the more stuff you get early on the easier it'll make it later on for you. Also another tip for pretty early on is whenever you're able to go to a new area (like past the Obsidian Fieldlands to a brand new area) as soon as you get access to them come back to the village and get the quests from there. There's a pattern to where once you unlock a new area the major stores in the area like the item shop and the clothing store and even the farm area give you new requests in other for them to expand their inventories. In the farm's case it unlocks new fields as you progress. So always make sure to check for new requests as you progress. You get some pretty good rewards and shop inventory increases from doing some of them and they barely take much time to do. The item shop guy asks you to bring him 3 of an item and the clothing store lady asks you to bring her specific pokemon to her for her to look at. Also with the pokemon that people ask you to bring them (like the guy that asks you to bring him a wurmple in the request introduction) in very few cases you don't actually have to have the pokemon in your party. You just have to have one period and you can select it from your pastures and show them. If they actually keep the pokemon then there's a thing that asks you if you're sure about it first

Here’s one tip I learned while playing. Go do it though, you need to have a Pokémon that has mastered a move, such as quick attack or shadow sneak, that inherently boosts your action speed. Normally, using an agile attack twice in a row won’t give you anymore action speed than before. However, you can get three moves in one turn if you attack with an action speed-raising move, such as quick attack, use the move again in agile style (this being your second move), then attack with another move on your third attack. This effectively gives you three attack opportunities in one turn.

Here's one that I truly appreciate in this game. Many occasions, villagers ask you for a pokemon. Whatever pokemon you give, will be the exact model that will be shown. So if you give an alpha Parasect to the guy who asks for it, he will then have a giant alpha parasect in his home. What's more is that they retain their nicknames. Lastly, villagers usually will have unique dialogue for when being given alpha pokemon. Sometimes they may decline saying they're not ready, blah blah blah, but often this give you a fun way to customize the village.

I’d say one of the best things you can do to increase catch odds is to look at their Pokédex page, check what their favorite foods are, then use that type of food as a rice cake. Honey cakes are usually universal and help get you a green poke catch rate.

SHINY HUNTING. You're right about the shiny spawns with outbreaks being locked, but you can save once you encounter the outbreak text(right next to the outbreak) try to get a shiny, if not reset go back to the village and go in to see if the same outbreak is appearing, if it is, save at the camp and retry the spawn area, repeat as many times as needed. If it's not the same just reset and try again, most of the time it'll be the same outbreak

Another tip is to Use Cakes on higher leveled Pokémon. And especially pay attention to what type of cake the Pokémon likes. You can find a Pokémon's favorite treat on your Pokédex if you already have registered data on them. If you throw their favorite cake, they will eat them for much longer than any regular berry and their catch difficulty will go from orange to green, giving you a chance to sneak behind them, use a heavy ball and immediately catch them.

Tips I have that I am not hearing anyone talk about that have been extremely helpful to me on this second run through in this game are this... I think this goes without saying, but shinx is without a doubt the most important pokemon you capture in the early game. Using the move trainer lady, teach him all of the fang moves and he is your most versatile, and hard hitting pokemon on the team for a good amount of time, and for a relatively cheap cost. People are sleeping on buisel and ponyta though who are great early fires and waters in their own right, and kleavor is weak to water attacks so busiel is really good in the first area. Also driflim is really powerful early game as well, be sure you move train ominous wind on him, and he comes packed with hypnosis, confusion, ominous wind and 3 really useful immunities (normal, fighting, and ground moves.) He's a very good special attacker until Abra comes into your party, both of whom compliment your party very well. Throwing pokemon (not pokeballs, but pokemon) at enemies backs, which is called a stun attack, allows you to always get 1, and sometimes 2 free attacks in before they get unstunned. This ability gives you the power to take on pokemon that are significantly higher level than yours without losing, or even injuring your pokemon. This is a great way to earn fast experience as you progress naturally in the game, instead of running towards 1 spot with hi level pokes and fighting them repeatedly. Pokemon that 'participate' in battles earn double the experience. Example, use a stun attack by throwing your abra at the alpha staravia, or alpha kricketot, both of whom are found west of the second base camp that you create. You will start the battle with the stunned staravia/kricketot, then switch out your abra with your bidoof/Shynx and thunderfang/icefang/firefang/Rollout the poke and you will kill it. Your abra will receive double the experience for participating in the fight, and alphas give boosted exp, so expect it to evolve real quickly doing the stun attack technique. The first area you go to, you can actually catch a magicarp legitimately (which I mean by 'legitimately' is this: you don't have to do any wyrdeer cheap mountain hopping to get to an area you are not supposed to be in at the current stage of the game...) This magicarp is caught at level 15, and you can get him before you ever even get to Cleavor! at the top right of the map, there appears to be 2 bridges. You want to go to the bridge that faces more towards the North East, and keep following that path past the geodudes, and whenever you are right by the alpha graveler look at the shore of the lake and you'll see some level 14-16 magicarp... That's a gyarados in 4 levels, and if you continue to head south on your map, you can perform rock smash into the oreburgh cave and snag yourself some machops as well. Carp and the machop line... Not a bad start at all if I do say so myself. The 2nd area you go to is in my opinion the most difficult to navigate in the game considering the lack of cover and the stressful hard hitting alphas and the aggressive pokes all over every area... But there are 2 pokemon hiding in plain site right after you create the camp in the middle of the map that will help you A LOT. In the swampy area that has the alpha Skuntank in the middle of it, there is a non alpha, level 34 Skuntank whenever heading towards the diamond camp. BUT while you are in the same swamp area, you hug the mountains on the right and you can find a level 34 hippowdon. Catching both of these mons will help you quite a bit considering the skuntank will have night slash and flamethrower and the Hippowdon has High horsepower, rockslide, Crunch, and ice fang. Skuntank has exceptional typing and well rounded stats, while Hippowdon has a ridiculous defense, HP, and attack stat, and is only a ground type, not a rock/ground type. He also has a better special defense stat than rhyperior/golem so in lots of ways he is safer to use because he lacks the rock typing. These 2 pokes are such a power boost to your team, and are hidden in plain site, I see them both as absolute must haves.. The 3rd area has an Alpha level 51 Chansey on a little island to the right of the second camp camp you make in the dead tree area.... Well just to the south of that camp are Staraptor you can catch who all have close combat, as well as, an Alpha Machoke on the beach, and if you throw a pokemon at the Chansey's back (or any pokemon for that matter) and you get the 'stun strike' you will always get 1 free hit in. Using Staraptor, hit him with Close Combat and you will be leveling anything you have in your party way faster than anything else you can do at this point of the game, all of which is legitimate. The 4th area of the game has the pokemon that I think is the most slept on. Gliscor.. Gligars are all over the place, but Gliscor is my favorite tank in this game, just catch him and use him and give him his best moves for the situation and he will serve you as good as Rhyperior can. He has a ground and electric immunity while also being a ground type who takes neutral damage to grass moves instead of the usual super effective. Also, even though earth power is a special move, It's still a great move to have on him considering he now hits a stab ground 80 power move that's special based, and considering the rock pokemon all over this area are physical walls, Gliscor will be killing them with this move because he is hitting them with his stab 80 power special move and they are using their special defense to defend against it, so it doesn't matter that it is a special move. Everyone hates parasect, and I don't blame them, but he learns spore at level 40 which is a 100 percent accurate sleep move, and this can really help you catching tough pokemon by using the stun attack I talked about earlier. Lots of alphas have healing moves, but if they keep falling asleep than they are not healing anything. He is worth considering just for the move spore, and he may be the only pokemon in the game to learn this broken move. And yes he gets energy ball and not leaf blade as his best grass based move, but you have to remember that you probably won't be using this move against pokemon who have a high special defense stat. As long as their special defense is bad and you hit them with your special move, you are still likely to defeat them in one hit. If you are going to use Sylveon (I HIGHLY recommend her, I think she is the best eeveelution in the game) then you have to use mystic fire on her. This attack, as well as snarl on Umbreon, lowers the opposing pokemons attack after they hit, turning them into an instant tank and makes these 2 eeveelutions the best ones in the game. The following pokemon are, in my opinion, the most slept on pokemon in the game: Umbreon, Gliscor, Machop/Choke/Champ, Tentacruel, Alpha Empoleon, Ambipom, Scizor, Hippowdon, Heracross, Yanmega and Parasect. Nobody talks about these top tiers, and if you can't think of a poke that could help you in your current situation, then 1 of these pokes may just be the one that fills that gap on your team. Capturing wild pokemon is usually better than fighting them. Capturing rewards you equal experience as if you fought them, but is way faster since you are still out in the field on the move. Capturing nets you more money whenever you turn in to the professor before going back into the city, and capturing pokemon puts them in the pastures meaning they can be released later for grit rocks, none of which is available if you attack pokemon/bypass them.. Taking down alphas is a safer way to gain experience in regards to alphas specifically, although I usually go for the sneaky approach to catching Alphas and therefor lose no pokes. Alphas net you more experience (although you can catch them of course) which nets you this huge powerful overlevelled pokemon on the team, but just expect to lose most of your team and use lots of pokemon trying to catch them. It's usually worth it to try and catch pokemon around you as you move forward.

Just goes to show how prevalent the whole "skip over tutorials, don't read text" issue is. The game gives a prompt or tutorial on how to do something, KZbinrs and streamers especially skip through them without paying attention because they "know how to play video games", then they fail miserably because they don't know how to play the game properly, complain about "missing" features that are actually there, complain the game "doesn't" explain features they skipped tutorials for, and tons of videos appear about useful tips that are full of things stated in game or learned just checking your settings or menu (which really should be one of the first things people do in a game, like pressing buttons to see what they all do)

Great video! I didn’t know a fair few of these tips, despite having already beaten the main story and all the post-game content. 😅 However, one thing I’ll note is that the battles available in the Training Grounds doesn’t appear to give you access to most of the important NPC combatants in the game. Rather, it just seems to provide access to the NPC combatants who are present in Jubilife Village. So it mainly only includes characters who are a part of the Galaxy Team, but not characters like Volo, Adaman, or Irida. I wish more of the NPCs were accessible there to fight; there really isn’t a lot of variety, with only 7 NPCs to fight, total.

I learned most of these the hard way, however I didn't know about Blissy! I do believe there is also a alpha blissy in the snowy mountains- which is where I caught mine. Not sure if it's a set alpha there though.

I know which one you're talking about. The first time I saw it it was alpha, but it turns out that it's just a regular blissey that spawns there normally.

Stumbled upon this video now! I've finished legends a while ago but there were actually some tips i didn't know of! Like the HUD toggle, very cool. Now i'm going to max out my wurmple entry to hunt a shiny alpha one, it's going to be tough, wish me luck haha! Great video, thanks for it

I've played almost all of the previous pokemon games and I have to say, this one really does have enough missions to keep me entertained for a long time. Especially completing all of the pokedex. Catching so many of each one etc. The only pain in the A is having to release all of them once caught.

I don't think it has been a "bad job" explaining the harvesting system. They just didn't want to explain it to make it more "natural/mystical" imo. Yeah, it sucks for a pro-gamer, but I'm glad to see some aspects of the early games coming back (mystery).

After 90hrs I'm still on zone 2 in the story as I been just running around having fun.. All tips I figured out, expect I didn't know there was a mass release option.. Does it only work at the pastor or once unlocked can use it at the base camp? Also for the Alphas you don't have to go back, lot of them will respawn by just resting for a whole day. So if morning, rest until night, the rest until morning. How I been farming Roseade right now in zone 2.

You need four Pastures

@@TheQjad135 That was not the question. The question was, can you mass-release pokemon from any base camp out in the field? Or do you have to release them in town in order to use the mass release feature.

@@RacingPepe you can do it anywhere in the camps or the farm :))

If you go to the pastures once its unlocked, she'll tell you its available. But you can do it from the base camps too.

Crafting: I haven't tested this in the town but if you craft at the base camps using their crafting box you don't have to move the necessary items you've thrown into your box to your inventory before hand. Super helpful if you want to bring your inventory down to just barebones bc you have a collecting problem, like my "friend" does >.> I don't think I've seen this tip anywhere else yet.

The whole box thing, having 4 is not correct. I did not have 4 full boxes; it was unlocked once I returned back from defeating Klevor
