Tip from a recent player: You can beat the whole game with just Ichimonji Double and Whirlwind slash. Don't worry about unlocking every single move set. And eat your damn sugars. If you run out, just farm some more. Lastly, embrace the block. It doesn't always have to be a counter

Here is a tip i have noticed, When you do a stealth drop down attack it will give away your position to nearby enemies but if you drop down behind the enemy and then stealth attack then from behind on ground the nearby enemies wont notice. Its better to drop down and then stealth kill rather then stealth kill from above.

My tip is don't be afraid to disengage from a fight if you get outnumbered or bopped by enemies. Usually in dark souls you get this mentality of clear in one run but for sekiro you are at your strongest in a 1v1 match. You are insanely fast and if you use the running into stealth skill you can lose enemy sight lines easily and sometimes this open them up for backstabs. Sometimes you might only take out a single enemy. Just remember you are not a honorable samurai you are shinobi and hit and run guerilla tactics can turn the tide of battle in your favor.

Useful Tip: Stealth Deathblow the first bar if possible. Use your Spring-Loaded Axe after you jump into the enemy with two aerial sword swings. Jump, attack twice, hold down the Axe button, watch their posture bar fill up, repeat. Literally works against all bosses as long as you’re within range

Exactly! I am tired of these absurd cheesiness accusations. These are things the game offers (no exploits of glitches). In one video there was a reference to Myamoto Musashi. I recommend reading something on him. Victory was everything. He surprised his enemies when they slept or routinely came too late to duels to confuse his enemies or while fighting a row of enemies, he jumped to the side to attack the flanks. Honor comes with being prepared to everything.

@@burgerbran best early game is the ashina castle gate stairway. Same idol right before ogre. Instead of going towards ogre go towards the chicken and over the gate the merchant is at. Stealth kill the gun dude for like 120xp and then there are 4 regular dudes below him and 2 you can stealth kill. Can easily farm enough gold from them to buy out the memorial mob near them and get enough xp to get a couple skills in like 15 min. Mid game location that is really good is the idol in the castle by the prayer bead chest. You can stealth kill the blue robe guys pretty easily and quickly with the whistle or ceramic shards. Once you get the mind control jujitsu the gun fort idol is great. Instead of heading towards centipede go up and jujitsu the shotgun dude and let him kill the other dudes there. There are 2 plus a sniper in that room for about 600 total, and another 2 just down the tunnel you can stealth. Divine abduction can also instakill the monks in the temple areas (cant remember if base divine instakills or if only the golden vortex variant does. I know the golden vortex does) Last place for late game is ashima castle gate stairway again. Theres a tower next to it with a guy on top and below you can stealth. Another by the tree and two dudes going up the stairs but sometimes you can only stealth 1. Total is about 4k xp for 5 dudes. Theres a whole lot more if you go through the gates towards the first serpent idol and you can reliably stealth all of them

If anyone is just now picking the game up (like me), here's another tip: once you get to the Mt. Kongo area and unlock a certain new skill tree, get the skill High Monk as soon as possible. It is, hands down, one of the best skills in the game. And if you can use it properly, you'll be destroying enemies even faster. Not only is it a multi hit combination (which can also apply on-hit effects, such as Divine Confetti if you're using it), but if you use High Monk on an enemy that's doing a sweep attack (instead of jumping on their head) you deal more posture damage AND you'll land multiple quick hits. It also doesn't cost spirit emblems to use, unlike other powerful skills.

I agree that some enemies recover faster from it making it somewhat useless on them, but this game is about figuring out what works best for each enemy so I definitely recommend that everyone use the sweep double jump counter at every opportunity if only to see how helpful it was in that moment.

#1 tip in the game, make sure you don’t miss a single thing, be it a eavesdrop, item, enemy, nothing. Explore every single inch of the map as there are multiple hidden prayer beads and other goodies. My first play through I missed a memory and the last 2 prayer beads because I didn’t eavesdrop on Kuro. Pay extreme attention to dialogue and give sake to people if you have some spare. It helps fill in gaps in the lore. Another tip for middle-late stage players about to fight owl: DO NOT OBEY THE IRON CODE, I repeat DO NOT OBEY THE IRON CODE, make sure you stay loyal to Kuro. It stops you from getting a few memories and prayer beads and ends that play through early, making NG+ incredibly difficult later on as you have less health, posture and damage.

Five things I can tell you that are not in the video that make the game almost too easy are #1 use the Ceremonial Tanto. It's exactly like blood bullets from Bloodborne, use right from start of idol, heal used health with pebbles or an easy deathblow to not waste flask gourd, having an extra 15 spirit emblems is super good. #2 use puppeteer ninjutsu, ridiculously overpowered, having you and a puppeted enemy bounce between having aggro is way too good. #3 use Mountain Echo Finger Whistle Projected Force to berserk all beast enemies without alerting anyone and to make enemies facing you to turn around for easy stealth deathblow, this combined with puppeteer makes any mini boss with and elite enemy near them is made way easier. #4 the only prosthetic tool you really need against bosses is the Aged Feather Mist Raven, dodge any attack AND get behind them for increased attack back damage for only using 2 spirit emblems is beyond the best... and #5 don't be afraid to just remove any combat art your using while fighting a hard boss, there's a lot of bumper mashing in this game and accidentally using combat arts will always get you killed... Also this is just my opinion but... I had the easiest time with this game then any of the soulsborne games, but probably the most fun. There's no bullshit in this game, you have all the tools you need to beat any enemy, you just need to know how to use them.

FUN FACT: You actually CAN get a stealth deathblow on Orin of the water. If you position yourself in just the right spot behind her and hit her DIRECTLY with a non damaging projectile (like oil or a ceramic piece) the deathblow symbol will appear. Though you can't target her directly, you can still initiate the attack, makes the fight MUCH easier.

Honestly I think ceramic shards are underutilised. Anytime you have a group of enemies where if you aggro one, the others will aggro too, you can use a ceramic shard. Or an enemy you could normally not stealth kill, hide around a corner, throw the shard, deathblow when the indicator comes up when they walk past. It takes a bit of patience but in some areas it's a life saver... like those twirly blade guys in senpou temple. It's ridiculously hard just to fight one, let alone two or three. Two are positioned to cover your entrance, but with a bit of patience, some shards and wallhugging... piece of cake!

Agreed, but the button mapping for sprinting is still a big problem. Sprint and dodge are on the same button, so you will always dodge into a sprint and will often unintentionally dodge when trying to briefly sprint. Unless you get creative with button mapping you can't control the camera while sprinting either. Why they don't just make sprint L3 like 99% of games is beyond me.

That mindset made me die 30 times at DoH and 25 at the ape. Don't actually do this. What worked for me was deflecting whatever they throw until they are either visibly staggered, or in a recovery animation, then hit 1-3 times, as much as you can get away with without getting deflected, then repeat until their posture is broken. I never dodged unless the attack did chip damage through deflects, or was a sweep.

@Sgt James Doakes I ended up luring her into the pool and standing just out of her firing line(on cliff by the idol), she never loses aggro. Poison takes effect on her (down to 1hp) and I drop down to finish her off with a shuriken and a deathblow. slow but it works. I would have rather had a fair fight but I couldn't manage to clear out all the other ridiculous enemies without her spotting me. I find just like the fight with headless, the slowing effects of these environments are my biggest weakness.

Trevor Best If you fight here where she spawns you don’t need to kill anyone else. Use a Gachi Sugar and swing on over to the boss, get a backstab and slowly lure the boss towards the fog wall. At this point all you need to do is deflect her attacks, watch out for the grab and jump away from it. Ichimonji works great to semi stun lock the boss as well

When you jump to dodge cleave attack most of the time you can hit jump button again to hop of the enemy to damage their posture. Also with a lot of enemies after mikiri counter there's a window for you to perform combat art or prosthetic or smt, double ichimonji is imo the best combat art in game for beginners and for that purpose too, it costs 0 emblems and staggers most opponents, while dealing a good amount of posture damage AND healing your own posture independent of wether they blocked it or not.

Picked it up last week on sale. Been playing for around 8 hours. - When you realise "pausing" actually pauses the game (Mind Blown lol) . - If you use an item from menu whilst locked on it'll automatically be thrown at the enemy. Oil for example.

Okay, so big XP tip. ALWAYS keep an eye on how close you are to your next skill point. If you're not far off another point go and farm enemies until you get it. THEN go boss fighting or exploring new areas. IMO losing XP for skill points is worse than losing gold.

You can stealth deathblow Shichimen Warriors if you have confetti active. Not all of them can be snuck up on, but at least one can be stealthed from above in the Fountainhead area in this way. Also, Orin of the Waters can be goaded into a backstab if you either throw a pot shard or jump on her head while she's playing her shamisen. She will put the instrument away and then be vulnerable to a backstab.

(as it's a Soulslike, I need a lot of guidence.. I agree) but yeah I've defeated 4 mini bosses at 2 maximum 3 chances (The one after the Ogre, I defeated him at one go). But yeah at times it gets frustrating but I never Rage quit (only Dante's inferno was the game I rage quit) cause I was always prepared for the challenges I might face as I know Miyazaki is one s0n of a b¡tch who wants to pusb his players to the limit.. and I am ready for that But even after dying so many times I am literally in love with this game.. so much so that I almost forgot that I was playing Yakuza Kiwami 2 and Evil west simultaneously 🤣

My tip would be remap the controls in the settings menus if you are struggling with the combat. It made a MASSIVE difference in the game play when I adjusted the combat controls to be closer together. You can also practice the controls and moves with the trainer in the first area

This is 100% just a personal preference, but I like to play these games with as little 'aid' as possible. What I mean by that is generally speaking, its just me and my sword against whatever is out there. There are certain mini bosses like the headless or the sichimen warriors where Ill use divine confetti and pacifying agent, but i dont use candies very much and i definitely dont like cheesing a boss with fistfuls and firecrackers. Of course, finding a way to get a free blow on a miniboss is something I'll look for though.

Item combo for ghost enemies. Devine confetti + ako red candy & pasifying agent. When you get to the castle antichamber idol, stop and farm the blue samuri. Acquire about 30 to 50 devine confetti before continueing. skills that have yellow icon are useful in any playstyle. Get thoes first. Enimies can most allways be sprinted past to get to the next idol.

Throwing shuriken doesn’t break stealth. 2-3 shurikens kill a gunner. You can kill all the gunners around one of the generals before doing the stealth deathblow

If the arena is big enough just run in circles easy to study when to attack for one quick slash or to slightly test what boss is capable of before you engage more aggressively. Orge is a joke just spam grapple if he does manage to grab you he is a grapple point himself when he throws you. Also double jump his perlious grabs.

You can actually almost every mini boss ever apart from the Armored Boss at the Senpou Temple Bridge, Blazing Bull and Demon of Hatred. Because even if bosses like O'Rin of the Water can be reset even if you get detected by her, by basically running to the bridge to her left, and jumping off at the end then swim back to start again and she'll be slowly walking back to her spawn, so you could camp somewhere in the hills near the bridge and stealth attack her once she turns your back to her. And this can be done for basically every mini boss if they don't cover the entrance and exit with fog. Just get the mini boss's attention, run away until the boss's health bar disappears (they lost track of you), run back to the place and do a stealth deathblow. HOWEVER if you're thinking you can spam this, you're wrong. If you run away again after taking a health bar, the boss will get their healthbar back.

I accidentally shanked the lone shadow swordsman (I think that's his name, purple dude at the ashina reservoir in the shaft where the game starts). I mean he looked like an enemy so I tried to get the jump deathblow on him but when I was falling down I noticed he had a grey interact circle on him but I already pressed R1 and hit him in the back. Did he have any dialogue or quest or will he become hostile anyway?

you can get a stealth kill on 3rd Shichimen warrior from the top of the waterfall behind it. Orin of Water also has a tactic using a ceramic shard to get a free kill, but it's got a very small window of opportunity to pull off

You can actually get a deathblow from above the fountainhead palace Shichimen warrior. I jumped down to start the fight and it showed up so I hit the attack button but shortly after I got killed. It took me a few times of jumping down on him again but I eventually found the right spot. Just experiment until you find it and run away if you miss.
