Contract negotiation hack (mainly in lower leagues): If you're negotiating a contract for a player where you are very confident that he won't get an international cap (eg - English player in skybet league one/two), offer a lower wage, remove all bonuses and offer a significant wage increase after the first international cap. They'll never get it and you'll save a ton on wages and bonuses. Very useful in the lower leagues where you can use those funds for facilities.

can you explain more about the trick bro? Cuz usually, if I'm to offer a contract with an optional extension, I have to make a more attractive one (higher salary or bonuses) and red-lock the clause. Orange-lock doesn't seem to work.

For the bonuses, I'd say that budgeting trick is very much dependant on the role of the player. If it's a star to regular squad player who will be in constant rotation, then sure that last one is a good tip. For new prospects / injury prone players / players that need to be loaned out for a few years for development - then loading more of the wages into potential bonus payments is probably better, since you probably don't expect them to be playing as much

Another superb tip is, in the middle of the season when a player wants a new contract. Click on Contract starts at the start of next season. You can save yourselves a ton of money especially if you use the 5th tip on this video

I enjoyed thi Video very much. I did figure out the more money one by accident.I have taken the challenge and an playing Sutggart. Sorry for the spelling, The one problem with that club after you balance to wage budget your transfer budget drops to as low as 1.6 Million dollars.Not a lot of money to sign players because your wage budget is 0. With a few sales and cutting high priced players with large salaries,With in a few months you will can have if you use my numbers about 6 million in transfer budget and about 1.3 million for wages. I know it doesn't sound like much.But if you start your start isnt that wonderful say 15 points in 15 games.With even all these cuts and some young signings.I still managed a B+ rating with the Board.Honestly that amazing. But this is new promoted club and they just want you to compete. It work to make this happen. but for me a lot of fun. 14:05 I personally see bonuses as a way to maintain your wage structure at a reasonable level. This tip may save you some money on a specific player, but the damage done to your club's wage level is gonna come back to haunt you when you make signings in the future (or even when other players in your squad notice and also want a big raise). Though unpleasant, I would rather lose some ready money than lose leverage on my wage bill.

Regarding the bonus issue, it mostly applies to offense-minded players. No harm is done if you promise to give your entire backline 20 million for scoring 20 goals. It's also relatively risk-free to abuse the TOTS bonus if you are a smaller club.

If you take away the bonuses the player that will demotivate him as if you add bonus it will keep him happy. I would rather make the weekly money much lower and give a player better bonuses. Its cheaper and keep motivation up, win win situation.

What do I do with players complaining they want to do less strength/quickness training that are doing no strength/quickness training? This is often the version of the message I get. The only slight training they have in the category is that it plays a minor part of Overall training (along with every other attribute)

Loaning players - If you loan a player to the same club twice in a row, they normally improve significantly in the second yr. This also depends on the club you've loaned them to first...ie chose the right club in the first place.

@@rezku8808 I've never done a 2 yr loan but i would presume it would improve the player, even if he has an average first yr. Choosing the right club is crucial though. People go on about the training facilities but i prefer loaning to clubs that are doing well in the league and looking good to be promoted.

I live loaning future stars early in the game sometimes you can get people like Eric Garcia, Phil Foden and Vinicius Jr etc and if you give them plenty of game time and they do well they usually have you as a favoured club and favoured personnel making it easier to sign them later in the game and they then perform well for you as they love you and the club. I loaned Brandon Williams from United when I was Brentford after getting promoted to the Prem he played all 38 games scored 3 and got 12 assists he lived the club and me and I got a notification he was sad to leave. The next season I tried loaning him again and United said no they're gonna give him game time but they didn't he made just 4 appearances for them and got unhappy I managed to get him for 5m upfront with 5m in bonuses after appearances and if I win the FA Cup plus a 10% sell on fee. He's now one of my best players 5 years in and is a club icon who regularly gets a rating of 7+ per game and overall per season.

Do the bonuses have any effect on performance? for example if the CB has a clean sheet bonus does that give them incentive to play better or vice versa not to the full capacity because they dont have a clean sheet bonus? Same idea with strikers/wide players with goal bonuses? Because if so then taking those bonuses off can be the difference between winning games and losing, if not then you've just saved thousands/millions of pounds.

Probably, how much we don't know. We know the shared squad bonus set to high gives a moral boost for the start of the season, but fades before December f ex. The big question becomes is it worth it, how are your finances vs are you winning anyways. If you need every margin in one area, act accordingly and use it or not. -R

The only thing about that I have noticed is that my main strikers form significantly improved for a few games every time I signed a new contract with him(with better wages and bonuses) So I think yes, but it doesn't last for too long as the player slowly gets used to being paid more

On the last one can we clarify where the costs are placed? I always thought bonuses came out of the clubs balance not the wage budget, so if you're struggling with wage budget it might not be the best idea. That might be completely wrong of course. Having said that, if you're working on a contract for a backup keeper, don't give him an unused sub bonus!

It looks to me in game when testing this that it's all drawn from budget now. So the old trick of higher bonuses and lower wage is just tricking oneself if it becomes a bigger total amount. If you had plugged in more realistic numbers it seems very possible that it actually would've been cheaper with the bonuses. When budgeting, you should strive for realism (within a safe margin), not extremely unlikely worst-case scenarios (that's being stupidly stingy). Performance-based bonuses can also motivate players, which a fixed wage can't.

The perhaps most determining factor in why some clubs constantly get top youth players while you dont, location. I am at Wrexham and I have "top everything" but some clubs located in other areas like of course London seem to get better youth intakes constantly if they have the facilities and staff required. After winning the title 14 times in a row with Wrexham I concluded that 4 players had come through who were touted as Wonderkids in all of those seasons, they were all goalkeepers but this is probably just bad luck. My intake margin of wonderkinds is far lower than that of clubs situated in big cities.

I didn’t understand the tip about the orange arrows. Those actual attributes are going down, but his Current Ability isn’t necessarily going down. Was that the point?

People misinterpret them and think the players are getting worse, that they are doing something wrong with training etc. Herne on SI said this in a comment from a user asking: "Have they really dropped to that degree or are you just seeing lots of little orange arrows pointing diagonally down? If the latter then that's nothing to worry about - at Camavinga's age that's probably nothing more than attribute re-balancing which tbh I wish SI would hide as it often causes unnecessary concern. It could also be the natural ebb and flow of development. Players don't develop in a linear fashion and it's perfectly normal to see increases one month and decreases the next - the important part is to achieve long term growth, so an upward trend over a long period of time." So it's not a drop, just how the game balances the ebb and flow of CA into how the attributes look. If you start getting -1's in progress tab, that's when something is wrong. Unless it's bc of old age or injuries.

@@fmscout I see. What’s more frustrating is the month when a young-ish player (like 21-23) gets orange arrows on most attributes, and I can’t figure out why. A player could have great match ratings, training well, no injuries and have a great personality and still you see these “dips”. Sometimes it could take months or even years for all the attributes to go up again. I know it happens with players who have maxed their CA - some attributes go down for others to go up. But this “all orange arrows” situation is quite frustrating. Any thoughts on this?

@@TommyEngvik It's a bit of the same thing. It's damn hard to say what it is exactly, but it could be the above, it could be because he has bad moral atm, it could be he has hit his PA as you say. Probably more reasons as well. Asked on SI forum? If his training rating is low, try warning him for poor training with a "put hand around". If their development is just stalled they should say they will try harder, and it will kickstart. But you will almost need an editor to find out what it is, so that's kind of boring. There might be nothing wrong, and we are looking hard for answers lol. Like he commented above it should be removed unless clear drop because you are doing something wrong. Then we would know right?

Touch offers a better overall experience similar to that of PC but the mobile version lets you simulate through seasons much much quicker. I would personally choose touch however wait for next season as you can't add an updated database on either of these versions. Hope this helps.

Another fact about injury. When a player is playing matches during the season, u have to rest them from training. Than they get less injured. Is this true? Like one week gap between two match, a three day rest for the player from training. Is this necessary?

That's what I always think. I tend to give lower wage and make the contract insentive based. It's a win-win, if they end up shit then they're on a low salary, if they're good, then you've done well, so the bonuses are worth it

Don't really agree with the last one. The 'worst-case' as you put it is actually the best case scenario because you'd get 50 games and 50 clean sheets from him. The actual worst case is him not playing a single game and you wasting £4m. More realistically, he will probably play no more than 30 games and might get 15 clean sheets= £4.6m. It also removes the incentives- if you win the Europa league for example the amount you'll pay him will be massively outweighed by the income you'll receive. I tend to offer players bonuses more often because if they perform and score goals / win competitions then I'll earn more money to pay those bonuses with. If they don't perform or don't play, it won't cost you anything.

Hi Jack, I see where you're coming from with this point. The way I decided to take a look at things was the "worst-case" as in monetary value that would hit your budget and ultimately the largest out-going. Whilst I agree, the money earned from winning the Europa League would offset this bonus, you're playing a dangerous game if you have a whole squad full of these. Even in your example with those numbers and the £4.6m outgoing, you'd still be saving money by removing them at that value and offering a higher weekly wage.

Agree with Jack. I usually reduce their guaranteed wage and up their bonus. This means if players underperform I don't pay as much but end up paying for how well they perform. I don't mind paying more to players putting the work in. If players underperform constantly it also means they have a lower wage so it's easier to offload them to another club. There's also the possible "unknown" incentive it may or may not give to players to perform.

Really disagree with the last tip. The cost of these bonuses are rarely going to cost you more than you make from them. You also run a very high risk of players you then can't offload if they don't work out or you sign replacements because of the inflated salary which will eat all those savings you've made and a whole lot more

How do you know the bonus is not something you are paying and he still scores as much? You think Haaland will just score 20 and not 40 goals without it? Try it. 100k goal bonus Haaland wants, same for Appearance fee. 100k times 40 goals and 40 games he appears in. 4m+4m.. £8m 20k more for 52 weeks. £1M.

But players like Haaland make up less than 0.1% of the players in the FM database because he is 0 risk take the guy in the video a 30-year-old center back who wants a 4-year contract. Odds on him making a European squad in year 3 or 4 of the contract? Pretty slim so you'll need to offload him and you will have a much easier time doing so and recoup much more of your original investment with an incentive-heavy 65k a week contract than you will with an incentive-free 82k a week contract. If you can't offload him he's gonna eat 4 1/2 million a year so taking that approach to save 200k per player a year getting it wrong once eats 20x your savings. You see it every season there will always be a player or 2 from the Manchester clubs, PSG, Barcelona etc transfer listed for significantly less than their value with no interest because their wage demands are too high and no one else will pay it.

@@dactz Well, then maybe you should not have given that player such a deal at all, I don't think 9k more is gonna go much of a difference to be honest. It's not a huge sum compared to what the bonuses they ask in total. Since it is now drawn from the wage budget anyways, it makes sense to save money if possible. Of course there are outliners in both directions, but I think in total it's hugely rewarding. For a squad with new contracts I think it's a huge sum to save in a season. It's a budget, and you have to plan for getting success and playing well? Then those bonuses are gonna go anyways, and you will pay more than you could have. A lot more. The appearance fee is pretty much the same as wage.

Anyone have the trouble when you have a superstar player with 18,19 & 20 across the board, they aren't as good as players with 12, 13 & 14. Prime example, superstar striker with all the best striker attributes including finishing at 19. He scores very little. My other striker with a finishing of 11 has been the Prem League top goalscorer for the last 4 seasons. It appears that the higher the attributes are, the more average the player is. This kills me when I raiid South America and find the hidden gems with all the attributes and glowing references from my scouts and coaches. They come to me and can't kick a ball.

Possibly city size will affect the youth intake. Smaller cities = smaller intake = less good youth players. Try make deals for affiliate clubs as these too may supply talent. Even the nationality of your youth coaches may affect the intake, so perhaps a diverse bunch from around the world would be better than all British.

FM 21 has been different than any other so far for me. I can't get a good result with 4-2-3-1(been using it since FM14 and it always works), wing backs/inverted wings version. Team cohesion, tactical familiarity and form are all on point but for some reason it doesn't seem to work. Changed a few 4-2-3-1 tactics and same. Playing as Helsinki and currently 5th which is extremely bad. In 19&20 I've won title every single time in first season and had good results in Europe as well. Don't understand this..

Well i won in first year the league amd the league cup, and europe league too, in 4-2-3-1 formation, you need to see the roles and key strategic to your team. Some teams mitgh not work.

Well it depends. What's their natural fitness at? How have you set the training intensity? And how closely spaced were the matches? If it's the English Boxing day week, where you play 3 matches in a bit less than a week, then anyone would get tired. And for the holiday, try to send them off for a longer one, not just what is recommended. Sometimes that helps
