Things I Wish I knew when Learning How To Code. Hi everyone! I am going through some tips that I wish I knew when first learning how to code. At first, it can seem so overwhelming, and having some of these tips, will save some of that initial stress for you!
1:00 Everyone learns at a different pace and differently
2:05 Don't be afraid to ask questions
3:35 Everyone brings something different to the table, you don't have to be amazing at absolutely everything
4:55 Learning coding is a life long process
5:26 Collaboration is key
5:59 Life skills learning how to code has taught me

You make so many great points here that are making me feel WAY better about starting my learning journey...especially about the fear surrounding asking questions!!!! Thank you!

An other great video! please keep doing those inspirational video's, I am a store manager in retail and I'm looking into code but it makes me really anxious to make the step and take the risk. Thanks a lot for the motivation!.

Great video! I've just finished my first week of a bootcamp after never looking at code before and this is all so true already. Especially people learning at different speeds and the importance of asking questions. I'm so excited to see what comes of it all

I spent the last week giving myself hell for not knowing enough, and not understanding as quickly as all my classmates. It definitely did not help me. Now I'm just focused on getting better each day.

Jus watched 3 of your videos, and I'm HOOKED!! Give me a plan or please some advise and guidance for the SELF TAUGHT route. Lookin at Python as my 1st language to compliment my Cisco Network experience.. "RETIRED" at age 40 to spend more time wit my lil ones but 8 months in and I'm already itching to get back to work in some capacity. Coding seems interesting and neat entryway back in.. please advise. oNe

Ok I guess this video answers partially my question on your other video. So I should go for Front End first of all instead of Fullstack. But what do I need for Front End. I'll google it. Thanks for that.

A really helpful video, thank you :) I am 2 weeks into my bootcamp and also don't come from a mathematical or tech background and have been worried that my fellow classmates are so much smarter than me and are using syntax I've never even heard of. So this was reassuring :)

Not always, but I'd say the majority of those people who seem "smarter" than you in coding boot camp likely have experience in it already. Check their LinkedIn profiles to confirm. As long as you have the determination and use supplemental material, you can do it. Also, what is working for me was keeping a journal of what I learned during that day. I think it's important to solidify your ability to explain the material in a simple manner. If you can't explain it simply, you might need to work a little more on trying to understand the concept. But I think it was such a huge help for me to use a journal. My recall of concepts and rules is much better than if I didn't do it. It's easier to make connections and problem-solve. Also, it's good to read and watch various sources that explain the same concept. I feel when people explain concepts, subtle uses of language matter a lot in helping you understand how things work under-the-hood.

Before the summer I finished 3 years bachelor in game technology, and I'll tell you, nearly nobody was asking questions in class because they were afraid to look stupid. I asked questions all the time. Several people told me they were so glad I was asking questions because often times I asked about things they were wondering about also. So my takeaway is; everybody benefits from you asking questions. Even the person answering benefits, because it creates an opportunity for them to reexamine how much they know. And also after starting working I noticed, everyone else don't know everything, so there's no need to ever feel stupid really.

Another great video Tiff, "I started to question my learning ability..." LOL... I can relate...I swear I'm retarded and people around me are just too nice to say anything!🤣 You have such a nice demeanor, and part of me hopes it's as nice and easy as you say but.... I'm actually looking forward to getting overwhelmed with unrealistic expectations I think I thrive when I'm waaaay in over my head. Haha... thanks for all the great advice, you are AWESOME!
