I can 100% attest to the Scumfrog Launch Frog as definitely being a must use frog. I am a shore fisherman and 90% of the lakes nearest my home are shallow with depths averaging less than 12' 90% of the lake that a cast can reached by shore or wading is under 10' deep and by now in late May 70% of thier shorelines are blanketed in lilly pads and weeds so either you get good at frogging or you only fish weedless soft plastics First few years struggled hooking up with hits even after I got good at waiting till I felt the bass on the line loading up my rod and bought a rod designed for frogging was in Cabelas saw Scumfrogs and immediately noticed it was made In America so I bought a bunch. Once home realized the body of the scumfrog was much much softer than all my other frogs and the body compressed with essentially zero effort. I bent out and sharpened up the hooks and waited for a perfect frog morning and hit the pads. Immediately saw a significant increase in my hookup to blowup ratio like a 15% increase from 50-60% to 75% and ONLY thing I changed was the frog I was using Now ONLY frog I use is Scumfrog and because I fish lakes with LOTS of 2.5-3.5lb bass and very very few 5lb+ bass I gave the smaller Scumfrog Trophy series popper frog a try because it has a smaller more compact size that any bass can easily engulf and its popping action throws off a lot of water been using it for two years now and it increase my hook up rate another 10% to 85-90% so now I miss very few bass on a frog If your lakes are strongly populated with 4lb+ bass the Scumfrog Trophy series might not be your best choice but if your lakes are like mine where 90-95+ of the bass you catch are between 2.5 and under 4lbs than IMO/IME the Scumfrog Trophy series is a must have frog Helps I use 50lb Power Pro braid and a great graphite glass composite frogging rod since going to a good frogging rod 5-6 years ago my hookup ratio increased about 10% These guys are speaking the truth Scumfrog is not a gimmick its the real deal and is a must try frogging bait if you're having trouble hooking up on bass with frogs.

JT hit the nail on the head. I have been saying for years that frogs should be packaged belly out I don’t care about the back the fish rarely see it. Or at least have a clear package all the way around so I can see the belly.

@nicholasrichard1884 жыл бұрын
Not sure if this is a stupid question (I’m new to fishing this year), but when fishing a frog, do you always use just heavy braid line without a lighter leader line on account of the fact that something lighter will break from pulling the frog through heavy cover? If so, is the heavy braid line at all a deterrent to the fish biting?

looking at the launch frog, the hooks look like they are away from the body a good bit. How would you say the hangups are when you compare it to something like a Spro or Live Target frogs? If it skips up into a tree...is it coming back out 100% of the time?

I’ve always wondered why they don’t put em belly out in the package, that’s the most important part of a frog color. Like when I pick up a package and turn it around to see what the bottom looks like and you can’t see through the pack, I end up opening the pack to see what the belly look like 😂

@mikeybalzz3 жыл бұрын
couple things you might try if you haven't. have a follow up bait like a lightly weigted stick bait or fluke to throw back to the blowup. also don't set the hook. let the fish blow up the bait and just let it sit there until she actually takes it down. might try bending your hooks back a hair too - fletcher shryrock showed me how he would slightly open his frog hooks just a bit to get better hookups.
