I use a toddler rubber band I double it over and slide it to the middle of bait then spread the rubber band apart and you will see a x.i skin hook it under x..this way the hook rides up ,helps prolong bait and the bands come in assorted colors.any dollar store has them

Fished the wacky rig for years without the rings before they became popular. I now use them 100% of the time and catch just as many fish as I did without the rings. Plus I don’t lose nearly as many worms as I used to. Will never go back to no ring. Don’t over think it.

It would get too expensive you’d burn through a pack faster than all get out the reason we use O rings is to extend the baits usage 😂 and we can slip on 2 o rings and criss cross and hook in the middle for a better hookup ratio spot on brother

I really have to say the zoom zlinky is a super good stick bait. Not as expensive as Yamamoto and is way softer out of the bag. I have no idea if it’s got the same level of salt but I’d imagine it’s close if not the same. Also it has a hook slot for an EWG which is nice to use for weightless setups. Colors are fantastic as well. Only complaint I have is maybe a few more colors. like red bug,pearl,and maybe even merthiolate.

O rings save the worm. You'll use a lot more worms if you hook it through like he's showing. I'm not suggesting he's wrong. He's surely right about it looking better and potentially causing more bites, or that it might make for better hook up as per the way the hook is sticking out. I still choose to use the o ring. Not always, but usually. If I'm out by myself or with say with the wife and kids for a few hours. And we often only use wackys because its easy for my kids to use and it works so good. I could go through 10 per 30 minutes using it the way randy is saying. You more or less will only get 1 catch per worm before it tears. This goes hand in hand with his recommendation to use straight floro instead of floro tied to braid. I realize straight floro is better. I've had my knot break. But braid lasts longer before needing replacing, and it is cheaper to start. Its about controlling budget. I'd rather have decent rods and reels and use o rings and braid then use cheaper rods and reels and not.

I am interested in a lake breakdown that is currently not available what is the best way to get intouch with a request? I tried the personal lake breakdown link on fishing the moment and its not working right now. Hope you have an excellent rest of the day!

It can be more effective than a Texas rig, but I find it to be a thoughtless way to catch fish. There are times when the bass prefer a slow falling Wacky rig over anything else, but I prefer to use other methods when fun fishing. It's hard to beat when the stick bait bite is on.

Loving the channel Randy, you’re helping me get out of my box, I am a huge power bait fisherman, but these finesse tactics were the lakes getting so much pressure now our really going to become a big player. I’ve enjoyed the video on the shaky head with the trick more and the wacky rig, which do you recommend in early spring more often the wacky rig or the shake it. Thanks for the help again this finesse fishing is new to me.

Great video, Randy. I'm a bank angler, and the Wacky Rig is my go-to. Last year, bass were hitting a black & red laminate STH stick worm. Most times is when I was getting skunked Texas rigged worm fishing. Instead of changing hooks, I just Wacky rigged the stick worm with the same offset hook. If I was using a slip sinker, then I would switch to a 2/0 straight shank. Another setup that worked well was a Roboworm with a 1/0 straight shank hook. Once again, I appreciate the information it helps a lot. BTW, I've never used a o-ring.

I have always used an o-ring because that is how I was taught and never really thought about it. Thanks Randy...I am going to try your method. I imagine I will go through a lot more baits as they will get torn up faster, but if increases my catch rate, it is worth it.

I agree with you and disagree with Randy on this part of the instruction!!! If I can get my boat into a spot no matter how tight is to get into, I will fish it, so I use a medium heavy casting rod / reel combo, with 10. to 15 lb. Flouro, so when I get a bite, I tighten up to feel the fish and cross his eyes!! I very rarely loose a fish, rarely!!! If I am in 5ft. Of water or less, I use no weight, if I am in 5ft or more I use half a lead nail, if I am in over ten ft. Or more, I use a full nail or a 1/8oz. weight O ring, never anything more!!!! CROSS HIS EYES!!!!

Can't go wrong with a wacky rig anywhere. I do same thing with hook set as drop shots. Reel & lean don't snap the rod. That's worked very well for me. A good sharp hook with set itself with fish puling & little bit of pressure. I see guys cracking their rod back & always loosing the fish. Wacky drop shot it awesome to when thier close or on bottom!!!

@wendybrown2701
@wendybrown2701 Жыл бұрын
@GRILLBUOY101 be a line watcher, if it jumps slightly or travels from the place you cast...point your rod towards the cast, reel down and sweep to the side. This helps to hook in the side of the mouth. If your line feels smooshie, the bass is most likely carrying the bait in his mouth already ...reel down and lift up, (probably swimming towards you. The quicker you set the hook, the better chance you have of not gut hooking. They also have a tool for getting the hook out that helps alot. But if you do gut hook, just cut the line- the fish has a better chance to live. He can spit it, or throw it his own. I hope this helps I'm the same way i cant stand to gut hook them. Sometimes when we think we got the hook out and the fish seems fine...you later see it treading water, flopping on top, dying.

It's either going to say "The Original" or it will have something that reads "Super Salt Plus"....sometimes with the S's being replaced by a $'s.....I've even seen the title "Better than Salt" on the finesse worm packaging, (these titles should be right above the color name on the white label). I'm guessing the packs marked "Original" are salt free or low salt content worms, but like Dwight Stephenson says above you're pretty much limited to going to a store and actually reading the labels before buying if you feel the two are different.

I legitimately don't belive fish can tell what's real or what's not. All the unrealistic nonsense lures and baits that catch fish proove that. It's a matter of how hungry they are and if it moves in a way they recognize as food.
