My dog got attacked once, I don’t blame the dog that hurt her, I blame the owner. He told me how the dog was a rescue...I often saw him walking with his dog and being extremely loud, harsh and disciplining the dog really badly. I thought to myself, that dog was a rescue and if you really want her to become disciplined, then she needs love not hate
@ophiuchusoversoul17855 жыл бұрын
its a combination of factors but the biggest issue is ignorance on breed traits and how to train ones dog. If someone gets a pointer and expects it not to be really hyper and chase birds constantly, thats just ignorance. Great, you love the breeds look, but do you know what your favorite breed NEEDS or are you expecting the dog to simply ignore what it was bred for and live in that tiny ass apartment bored 8 hours a day full of pent up energy? People blow my mind when they think its 'just a dog' and hundreds of years of putting the best bird dog with another great one doesnt figure into the equation.
@kiipiou82295 жыл бұрын
That isnt right. Dogs dont understand whats wrong or right unless you make it clear to them. If they artack another dog you dont treat them with kindness. They need love but not when they need to be disciplined
@ellie-pm9hp5 жыл бұрын
kiipiou i don’t agree, instead of shouting at her all the time and being rough with the dog, yanking on her lead etc, he needs to be strict but also give the dog love and attention when she was being well behaved. You can’t fix a dog who is petrified of the outside world by hurting them
@kiipiou82295 жыл бұрын
@@ellie-pm9hp its just simple discipline. So you disagree shouting or punishing a dog for attacking someone ir another dog is the right thing to do? They are not going to learn if you praise and love them for everything they do. Being strict is one thing but when they actually do end up biting, being strict is too late. You need to show them its wrong by at least raising your voice. If hes shouting or hitting her for no reason, i get it. But if a dog needs to be punished then you would need to. Most people tank on dog leads when walking past another dog or they are not going where they should be
@ellie-pm9hp5 жыл бұрын
kiipiou no, what I’m saying is, I have never seen this man praise his dog. the fact that the dog was a rescue it’s clear that she was only attacking my dog to protect herself, after doing something like that you do have to (to a certain extent) tell them off, but shouting and being extremely harsh to the dog all the time, for doing something she naturally does, is not right, she needs praise too, love and kindness would get her way further than hate would.
@Andy_17773 жыл бұрын
“Put that dog on a lead” I can stand behind that. All dogs should be on a leash unless there’s a sign saying they can be off a leash. Plain and simple, no accidents happen regardless of breed or size.
@yhap3 жыл бұрын
Agreed 100%, and that goes for large breeds all the way to small little dogs. Because if someone is walking their reactive dog on a leash responsibly, and someone else’s dog runs up and gets hurt or worse, I bet they won’t be happy about it. It’s the responsible thing to do.
@Andy_17773 жыл бұрын
@@yhap Exactly, that’s why I decided to write my comment. I have a fearfully reactive dog who gets walked on a leash always, she’s never off leash. If another dog was walking off leash in an area where off leash dogs aren’t permitted and they approach my dog and they get attacked by my dog, then sadly it’s their loss not mine.

My dog was killed by a dangerous dog, or essentially killed by one. There was this one German Shepard that always barked at my dog viciously and he would always bark back. One day my grandma was walking him, and the German Shepard found a way out of the fence and darted straight towards him. He bit him everywhere. On his back, tail and even head. The next time I saw him he was covered in stitches and had to wear a cone over his head. About 2 or 3 days later he was put to sleep. I cried the rest of the day and for the next month. My grandma had also died recently which made me feel worse. I just wish I could've been there to help him... If you read the whole thing, thank you. If a dog is properly raised, always being around young children, then there is no problem having them around each other. My last Doberman my parents got for my family when I was 2 to protect me and and my brother. They taught him to never play rough with me, ever. If I even tried to play tug of war with him, he would drop the toy immediately.And he also protected me, me and my mom were walking with him, and a sketchy looking guy was beside us. My dog growled at him, and wouldn't stop staring at him till he left. We also had an Australian Shepard, and they both ran away one time we left the gate open. We found the Ausie dead on the tracks 3 days later, and alive beside him was my Doberman. Three days in the middle of a scorching summer with no food or water.He wouldn't let any of the animal control near the Ausie until my mom came and comforted him. He was the best dog I've ever had, loyal, kind, protective, and just beautiful.His name was Reeses cuz he looked like a Reese's peanut butter cup.

Like, I get all scary looking dogs might be nice and sweet, but even if the chance they're dangerous is really small, why would you take that chance? Dogs have no don't know what's right and wrong. And it's their instinct to attack if they feel like you threaten or scare them. And you can't guarantee that no stupid child or pedestrian won't accidentally scare the dog, just because they don't know any better... like I said, i don't understand why you'd take the risk.
@baguettegott34095 жыл бұрын
@@kenunot6106 You don't get my point. I know aggressivity isn't dependant on the breed, but if a Chihuahua is aggressive it's just uncomfortable, if a Doberman is it's deadly.But I think the aesthetic reasoning you brought up is an explanation to some extent. And the morality question is obviously a difficult one. In my opinion, a dog can learn how to behave by being trained with treats to learn what actions are deemed "good" by the human and what aren't, but it can't develop values and moral. So it knows running up to strangers and licking their face is bad, but it can never understand why that is bad, what respecting somebody's personal space means etc. And it doesn't have to understand that, it's a dog not a human. But consequently, a dog can easily become a dangerous weapon if it was trained the wrong way, which can indeed happen because any trainer is also just a flawed human being.

Yes, breed does play an important factor in determining a dog’s temperament, but it is not the only factor. That being said, I do want to be sensitive around this and not upset you or anyone. I’m sorry for your and her situation and please give her some love from me and give her my best regards. But I will say that I bet you that there are pitbulls out there who, if only they had been there, would’ve jumped in and defended her from the attacking pitbulls.

"Any dog can bite, it's not just this breed." - Strange argument. It's true that any dog can bite, but not all bites or attacks are equal. Far from it. There's no reason to seriously worry about a bite or an attack from a small breed, but medium to large sized dogs kill people. "What type of person wants a dog like that?" - There are plenty of responsible pet owners out there, but there are also plenty of aggressive people who are attracted to more aggressive dog breeds. And more often than not, it's those people who aren't responsible pet owners, and it's those people's pets who end up attacking people. Don't fault people for noticing patterns or being aware of potentially dangerous people / pets. I have no problem with you owning dangerous dog breeds, it's your right. And a responsible pet owner makes a world of difference with how an animal will interact and behave in public. With that said, you've also got to recognize that almost everyone who owns a dangerous breed thinks their a responsible pet owner and that's certainly not true. Don't be so defensive, when people are nervous or apprehensive, we don't know you or your dog. Almost every single person who's dog is responsible for an attack would say the same things defending their dog, it's breed, and it's temperament as the responsible owners in this video.
@nerdanalog17072 жыл бұрын
"Dangerous" dog breeds don't exist. All dogs have the potential to be dangerous. I hardly ever see people asking labrador owners or border collie owners if their dog is dangerous, even though those breeds have killed humans as well. "Medium to large sided dogs kill people". People have been killed by sausage dogs, by jack russel terriers... No matter the size, any dog can be a threat. So this statement is false and stupid :"There's no reason to seriously worry about a bite or an attack from a small breed", and this is what stereotyping and singling out certain breeds over other does. Creates a sense of false security, like allowing an agressive/insecure bichon off leash to the face of a person --> that little dog can do a lot of harm. "people who are attracted to more aggressive dog breeds" --> "agressive dog breeds" don't exist. Agressive human individuals do which can educate agressive individual dogs. No matter if it's a doberman, a husky, a staffie, a cocker spaniel, a labrador, an australian shepherd, a schnauzer or an irish bloodhound... 60 to 50 years ago, it was german shepherds and/or dobermans which were considered "dangerous". In 50 years it will be another breed type, because humans don't learn.
@cattalkbmx2 жыл бұрын
@@nerdanalog1707 Have you ever looked at dog bite statistics? It doesn't seem like you have. Small dogs are just as popular as pit bulls, but oddly enough you don't see many (if any) deaths from small dog breeds. On the contrary the over whelming majority of fatalities are made up by pit bulls alone. Therefor small dogs aren't nearly as dangerous as the type of dogs that make up the group responsible for deaths. Sure people have been killed by "sausage dogs" but I'm talking about the big picture not random exceptions. You'd have to tell the full story of the exceptions for it to make any sense, and even then it's only anecdotal evidence, not proof of small dogs being just as dangerous as larger more aggressive breeds. The fact that small dog breeds aren't as dangerous as medium to large breeds should be self evident to anyone with basic common sense. The average adult and in many cases even children could easily stop an attack from a smaller breed. But with a medium to large breed dog an attack would be much more serious because it could be very hard to stop resulting in more significant injuries or death. So it's not a false sense of security like you're arguing, it's a fact backed by the overwhelming majority of all the data on dog attacks. As for your assertion that aggressive dog breeds don't exist, you're just wrong. A simple google search would enlighten you. And there's a big difference in being bit as a warning because an animal feels threatened, and being attacked by a dog that's actually preying on you. Dog attacks are up, dog attacks that result in death are up, this is all clearly linked to the pit bull as it's the dog most responsible for these attacks. People have owned larger dog breeds for years, the other dogs that are responsible for most deaths...Rotts, German Shepherds, Huskys, Chows...they are all aggressive breeds too, but it's clear how much more aggressive pits are by their attack and death numbers. 60 to 50 years ago like you talk about, when other dangerous breeds were more popular than the pit bull dog bites and attacks were significantly lower. But feel free to be just as worried about attacks from a bichon if you want, it's just absurd.
@nerdanalog17072 жыл бұрын
@@cattalkbmx You clearly have made up your mind to despise a type of dog. Because "pit bull" isn't a breed" --> it's a set of physical characteristics that sort of match, but not completely, the APBT. Thus, people can look at an english bulldog x australian shepherd mixed dog and state it's a pit bull, just because they think it looks like one --> nothing having to do with lineage or breed. Thus, ALL of your "data" is false. The majority of people can't make the difference between an american pit bull terrier, a boxer, a cane corso or a dogo argentino (to name a few, as well as all the mixed breeds). None of those dogs are of the same breed or lineage, but because they are medium to large, have short fur and muscles, they are classified as pit bulls. We could easily state that it's terriers that are the problem and that all terriers are agressive. Oh but then people would upset grandma and her yorkshire terrier. Better to stigmatise dog that are "only kept by drug dealers and pimps" (quote from Ingrid Newkirk from PETA). As long as there will be different classes of people, there will be different classes of dogs. That's why it's "pit bull" being used, and not "terrier". The false sens of security people have with smaller dogs, make them make stupid decisions. But please why don't you tell people who were disfigured by bichon type dog just because they were lying in the parc taking in the sun and the small poofy dog came by and attacked their face that "The average adult and in many cases even children could easily stop an attack from a smaller breed". I'm not scared of dogs at all, but I still remember they are dogs, don't think like humans, don't react like humans and have to be supervised. Now come back with accurate data specifying the actual breed of dogs and not just generalised term "pit bull" that can encompass up to 12 pure breeds, and thousands of mixed breeds and perhaps I'll finally learn something. Until then, the lack of scientific data is just used for the purpose of generating fear.

@@nerdanalog1707 You're entire argument is an emotional defense, you don't have any facts on your side it's just your opinion which seems to be at odds with all the information you can easily look for yourself. It's not "my data" it's the CDC's data. They keep track of all the dog bites and fatalities every year, not me. They classify the pit bull as a breed. And your assumption that I made up my mind to despise the breed is completely wrong too. I don't despise them, I'm just repeating what I've read about dog attacks. There's no reason to get emotional or defensive about the facts. The whole breed argument is completely irrelevant. For one you're arguing "pit bull" isn't a real breed, when "American Pit Bull" is a real recognized breed. But sure, there are Staffys, bull terriers, American bullys...it's splitting hairs a bit, don't ya think? Pit bull is recognized as a breed by just about everyone keeping track of and sharing this information, but the other breeds you say it's confused with make the list as being responsible for more attacks and deaths too. And it's not all terriers like you claim either, German shepherds, Rotts, Mastiffs, Wolf Dogs all make the list too. It's not a false sense of security, a small dog like a bischon is inherently safer than any of the larger more aggressive breeds I'm talking about. Sure they can bite and hurt you, but they aren't significantly represented in the statistics like the other dogs are. The same can be said for all other small breeds of dogs. And it's reasonable to assume that even a child can stand up to stop a small dog from biting it in the face. That's not to say that a small dog can't still bite and hurt you, it obviously can. But you're entitled to your opinions and you can feel however you want. Wasn't trying to hurt your feelings, insult the breed, or shame you for liking them (if you do). It's all good :) Best of luck to ya!

PLEASE READ!!!: I have a scar at the corner of my eye from a serious husky bite, I didn't even do anything to him, I was literally just looking at him for a split-second, then wham. Take in mind I do not blame or hate the animal for what it did, for I was too young to truly remember it, so there was a possibility I could have provoked it. Even though he did bite me I still didn't take it out on the entire breed, I love dogs to bits. During my childhood, heck, during my entire life I have been surrounded breeds of dogs that have been deemed dangerous by society's ignorant thoughts, and even though being the usually passive person I am, I felt like I needed to say something because it really is starting to sicken me by everyone's ignorance. I've been surrounded by Pitbulls with bad pasts, like being forced into cage fighting, and none of them ever even growled at me, they were gentle and sweet with so much patience. This obviously shows that it doesn't matter about its breed, it matters about its upbringing, but even then that doesn't make it aggressive. Yes it is a very big a key factor into it, but not making the dog aggressive as a whole. Through my life of watching breeds of dogs from becoming the most aggressive dog you'll ever see, and into the most gentle and compassionate creatures, I know for a fact that you don't need to worry about the breed of a dog, you need to worry about the owner, because they are the ones who have the control over what the dog does. Currently, I have a dog who is a pitbull, and who was once forced into fighting as well as being abused if he did something wrong during a fight, at first he was aggressive and tried to bite at me every single time I got near him, but I did not give up on him. Throughout my few years of having him, I have shown him time and time again that I am not a threat and that I will not hurt him, and throughout the weeks he has become noticeably relaxed around me. 3 years later, he is the most sweetest dog you'll ever meet, if it wasn't for the scars littered all over his body, you would have never thought he was abused. It is not the breed of the dog that makes them aggressive, it is the owner, and how they train them. Take a K-9 unit dog for example, they are trained to attack in to kill if needed, but they also are taught gentleness, which is also why they are so good during presentations or with kids. Abusive owners, or cage dogfighter owners only want to instill fear in the animal, only wanting to teach it to fight, not to teach it gentleness. They do not care about the true power of trust between an animal and an owner. Any dog can be aggressive, any dog can be defensive. Any dog can bite. And every single dog can be taught and trained to be gentle, just like every single dog can be taught and trained to kill. There is no such thing as a dog that is bad, if you are truly a dog lover, then why would you hate on other people's dogs When you don't even know the facts? Don't stick to stereotypes people, go out of your comfort zone and actually learn about these animals instead of reading and believing it every article about them that is entirely false. Also fun fact: did you know that pit bulls were once called "nanny dogs," they're called this because of their natural loyalty towards their owners, and being protective and very patient with kids.

My breed of dog keeps getting bashed on the news for being "unhealthy" which he isn't. The media like to pick certain breeds to bash whether that be that they are "dangerous" or like my dog "unhealthy" they like to bash to get a story. It's ridiculous.

The arrogance of these people is really worrying. Dogs can be dangerous and this fact should be acknowledged by the owners. It is totally natural to be scared around a huge/scary looking dog, especially for people and kids without any dog experience. Also: How would I know that the owner knows how to control their dog? My neighbour has a huge dog and when he is on the loose he has no chance of calling him back. This led to plenty of unpleasant experiences in the past when the dog came running towards my little nephews playing in the garden, scaring the shit out of them and me. This video just adds to my prejudices against dog owners :(

Originally Pit Bull and terrier types were bred for fighting entertainment. They were pitted against bears and bulls, hence the name sake. the cruelty to animals act (1835) prevented this continuing but dog fighting still did in secret. Staffordshire bull terrier was bred for this (hence the muscular build). many of the people were poor, meaning the dog would also live with them and their children. The staffy may have been bred for fighting other dogs but NOT people. It would have been impossible to have a fighting dog that showed aggression to people and especially children. The early breeders of the Staffy effectively eradicated the inner aggression towards people that was once in the breed. They've gained the term "Nanny dog" because the breed is so good with children.

@@jimbojim4767 first off if you actually knew anything about dogs you would know that labrador retrievers are number 1 when it comes to dog attacks. You would also know that just like people no one dog is the same when it comes behavior. Unfortunately there are dogs out there that behave aggressively, but it's also not just a single dog breed to blame or even the dog. You can have any number of reasons why an animal is aggressive. Number one being the human factor who basically train there animals to be aggressive for protection and sadly dog fights. For example, I've owned German shepards (third most aggressive dog breed) for most of my life. Our first dog we had we placed in training to attack any intruders that attacked us. However, we had to put a stop the training because we noticed that his behavior was changing as a result of the nature of the training. We had to retrain him to not attack hoping that his behavior would go back to what it was originally, sadly the damage was already done and he kept that small bit of aggression from the training. And Number 2 being mental disorders. Just like humans dogs can have mental disorders that can effect their behavior. You and so many ignorant people have basically smear campaigned against a single dog breed because of its looks and because a few rotten humans RAISED and USED them in an ILLEGAL activity. so when it comes to the bottom line who do you think should be feared more? The dogs or the humans that placed them in that situation to begin with...

It doesn't matter what kind of dog it is, if it's trained to bite, it's gonna bite. No dog should be forced to wear a muzzle unless they have issues with biting people FIRST. I have a thirty pound Jack-russle and Whippet mix that had been abused for years. I am genuinely terrified of every child who comes near us when we are out in public because of this. Nobody understands that all dogs can bite and that you should always ask permission before touching a dog. I once had a woman walk up and grab my dogs face, pull it towards hers, and begin ruffing it up. She naturally got a pretty nasty reaction and a few scratches. She then proceeded to tell me that I should have him wear a muzzle when out in public because he obviously couldn't control himself. In actuality he DID control himself quite well. When I first got him, I had to do serious therapy with him to gain his trust, and I'll let you know that this dog can BITE. If he had bitten as hard as he wanted to, she would have had to have stitches. He didn't even draw blood. No matter the dog, NEVER assume it's temperament, ALWAYS ask permission to touch.

@@livxo7882 Getting hurt is part of life and it serves a very important lesson. Mess with predatory animals, get hurt, stop messing with predatory animals. It actually annoys me so much when someone says ‘oh but I know what I’m doing’ it’s like ‘no, you don’t know my dog, you don’t know anything about my dog, YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THE HECKY PECK YOURE DOING MATE’ and then they go and get scratched and say you need to be more careful with your dog... Hehe sorry, mini rant over🌚🌚

i remember going to my uncle's and he has a staffie called Bob and the dog literally spent half of the time giving me kisses and falling asleep on me and staying with me because he could sense i was homesick and upset 🥺 i love dogs, and I love "dangerous" dog breeds, even though dogs that jump up can make me anxious sometimes, i still adore them and will pet them whenever i can :D

I was mauled by a pitbull when I was younger, so I have my reasons to be afraid of them. I hope most pitbull owners understand it isn't anything personal that I don't want to be anywhere near dogs like these, or most big dogs for that matter

Fact is most people who want to be cool and badass buy pitbulls and then make them aggressive to look cool.

Jenny._.Wolf arent dachshunds the number one? My dog bites and she is one but i still love her lol and every time i search they are the most aggresive breed because they hate kids and stuff
@jenny_wolf99656 жыл бұрын
Desi Cardinal All dogs bite lol And no dog hates children, it might be the way the children are around the dog. If they pull the dogs tail and stuff like that, it's going to dislike children because they are annoying.
@destiny89676 жыл бұрын
Jenny._.Wolf yes dogs can hate children because children are very loud and high energy. And they do pull their tail specially babies.But thats what im saying lol my pitbull will legit just sit their and do nothing if a baby pulled his tail. Small dogs have a lot of anxiety and dachshunds can hear very well so kids screaming really gives them anxiety and makes them want to bite the kids. So obviously its how the kida act but kids cant help that. And the dog cant help it either they just have that anxiety (not always).
@jenny_wolf99656 жыл бұрын
Desi Cardinal i mean all dogs find kids that scream and pull their tail anoying. And all dogs act / react diffrently around kids xD
@barbrae67486 жыл бұрын
Desi Cardinal German sheapards are number one I think, but the bread of the dog does not determine behavior it’s how a dog is raised. If a dog is raised poorly it will probably be more aggressive.

I got a Golden Retriever because my parents gave me such a big fear of "dangerous" dogs. One of my best friend, Isabella, got one of those "dangerous" dogs and she helped me get over my fear. I wish my parents never got me scared of them. They are so adorable! Even though I would've gotten one of those dogs if I wasn't afraid at the time, I will never regret my little doggo. Never let anyone make you afraid of something :).

Why do people have such a grudge against pit bulls. One of my favorite dog breeds is a pit bull. All of them that I have ever met have been playful puppies that wanted to lick me to death
@PeninsulaPaintings7 жыл бұрын
A Pitbull attacked my little dog (unprovoked) on our beach. Not all of them are cuddly and harmless, I'm afraid. The sheer strength of a Pitbull and its unpredictable behavior deem it to be generally more dangerous. Last year, Pitbulls caused more fatalities in the US than any other breed. Out of the 41 deaths caused by dog attacks, 22 of them were by Pitbulls. It's not just a random bias, there's reason behind it.
@sioya127 жыл бұрын
Nabzarella Dare the reason is their owners who don't train them, care for them properly so this doesn't happen. They are not genetically predisposed to being aggressive-it's either a result of inbreeding or traumatic life experiences. They were bred to be companions and child care dogs.
