I remember I got Splatoon 1 day 1. I thought it sucked and never played it after the first week. I only really got into the series in Splatoon 2 and I wish I had waited just a little bit before dropping the first game. Still hard to believe that was 7 years ago.

It’s crazy satisfying seeing this game’s colorful yet grungy aesthetic IRL! …It’s also satisfying seeing Mahi-Mahi exist again I miss that map immensely

Hey Chara, I'm actually SO happy you made this video. As much as one can study Splatoon 1 online, a lot of this stuff I would have never known without this video. Thank you so, so much. I toootally get now why everyone is talking about things like the plaza and stages now; the plaza looks so much cooler in Splatoon 1 and just from your ten second gameplay I can imagine Museum D'Alfonzo being one of the funnest maps ever. Back when Splatoon 1 was new, I used to have a struggle going past B+ Rank for months. To think in Splatoon 2, I reached in X Rank on every mode except Clam Blitz. Being an og Splatoon player feels great.

For me was absolutely the other way around, got 2 smurf accounts (including my main) up to S (when it finally came out after everybody was sitting at A+ dor ages) and my main to S+, occasionally hitting the 99 points on good sprees. That was the X "equivalent" back then although it really isn't comparable. Considering i still was an early teen back then, im still impressed by myself. Unfortunately, i got my switch roughly half a year after release and bought Splatoon 2 with it because Splatoon 1 was by far my most played game on the Wiiu, and honestly didn't really like it. The playstyle was just not at all for me. I did over the years level up to 35 or so but that shows how little i played, which resulted in me barely hitting A Rank in Splat Zones and staying in B for the Rest. Splatoon 3 is a loooot more fun to me though looking back.

Splatoon 1 was my favorite game when it came out and I still love it way more than 2. Somebody lost my 2 cartridge though so I haven't been able to play any Splat for years. I liked the meta in 1 didn't really mind how broken the weapons were imo the only problem was the strength/defense RNG meta, but you could still easily get to S without top tier gear. I'm excited for splat 3! I hope it's more like 1
