Only one thing to say: lower the volume of the music so we can actually hear what they're saying!

Cymraeg is one of the most interesting languages ever made. Sexy, musically inclined, bizarre, and such. Wish I went to a school in Caerdydd or Powys to pick up the lingo, boyo!

I don't know why it took me so long (I learned German at night school and taught myself Welsh) but CROESO is surely the same as south German GRÜSSE probably absorbed into Cymraeg from ancient Saxon and one of those words 'truer' to its origins when mutated - CROESO-> GROESO, GWYNT -> WYNT. I suspect D^WR comes from WA>TER< and TWP from S>TUP

Dŵr comes from Middle Welsh dwfyr, from Proto-Brythonic *duβr, from Proto-Celtic *dubros, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰubʰrós (“deep”). Croeso's origin is unknown but it's actually suspected to be related to 'croes' (cross). Twp comes from dialectal English 'tup' (fool), origin also unknown.

My favourite thing is that I live in MCR and when I’m ready to go I slap my knees and say ‘barod!’ and English people look at me …. are you alright?
@lagerku.31378 ай бұрын
To be honest, it would still be a bit weird, if you slapped your knees and said, "Ready!" That being said, I like that. Barod is a pretty _neis_ Welsh word.

The most funniest 2 made up Welsh words are probably popti ping (microwave) and pysgod wibbly wobbly (jelly fish)
@gwenrees75943 жыл бұрын
Neither of those are actually right. Microwave is "meicrodon" and jellyfish is "sglefren fôr". Common misconception though.
