That first story is so sweet. Imagine if he didn't ask her out? Yes, rejection sucks a lot, but there might just be that special person you need if you try. Just ask them out; if they say no accept it and find someone new. Finding a partner takes work, but can be worth it!

i was struggling with a really toxic and manipulative friendship during 8th grade. i started to make friends with some new girls so that i would have people to actually be my friend since the old friendship was taking a lot out of me. one day they told me they had a surprise for me. so on valentine's day, they all made me "galentine's day" cards. it was at the end of the day, and they rushed over with the cards and handed them to me. after reading them, i was about to cry. they were so genuine and i had never received something so nice from a friend, especially since i never got anything out of the old friendship. i hugged them really tight and thanked them so many times. that's when i decided that i had had enough of my old friendship, and a couple months later i finally had the courage to stop being friends with them. when i asked them about it recently, they told me that they knew i was in a really dark place and was really struggling, so they thought maybe making something for me would help me feel better. these friends are now my best friends ever and i am so happy i met them. my mental health is now much better.

Awww, this was sweet. I have a husband and 3 teenage sons. I always compliment them on whatever I see that looks good on them or features they have that make them extra handsome. I always give my husband a kiss on his dimple and tell him how cute it is. Compliments mean a lot to men and boys. I told one of my sons that he looks really handsome with his black shirt and how it made his eyes look even prettier. He wears mostly black now. I told him he looks good in other stuff too….but compliments stick. Make sure the compliments are true though.

The other day when I was shopping for new glasses, a very nice lady who worked at the store gave me many very sweet compliments. She told me how she loved my hair, how she liked the glasses I picked on me, and told me that she was jealous, because her hair had not looked like mine when she was my age. I do not have a very strong self image of myself and am always very self conscious when my looks are more 'out there', so her comments made me feel a little better about myself.

I’ll never forget this interaction between me and my orchestra sub on the last day of school this year. My original orchestra teacher was on a leave because she had a baby and so we had someone subbing in for her this year. She was a young teacher and this was her first year being able to actually teach. Not only was she fun and accepting, she was an amazing teacher with a lot of talent. I was blown away, never before had I found orchestra so fun (I love playing my violin either way and I like my old teacher, but this new sub was so energetic and so kind. She was easy to relate to and she even put memes on our weekly schedules!). Sadly this sub was only here for this year so on the last week of school I convinced my friends in orchestra and others who knew her from the music club I started at my school (I made one with my friends and asked her to supervise it. Though I couldn’t make many meetings cause of the spring musical, I could tell people loved her and the club) to visit her everyday at the end of the day and say bye. So it was the last day of school. Me and my friends who didn’t take the bus rushed downstairs to the orchestra room to get the sub’s signature in our year books. She was very nice and very sweet. We all stayed after for like 20 minutes talking as she signed our yearbooks. After everyone else had left and she signed my yearbook I turned around to leave, but as I did so I heard her ask, “[My name] do you want a hug?” And I swore I would’ve started crying right then. That morning I was actually telling my friends how much I’d love to hug her, but was worried it would be weird considering she’s a teacher and I’m a student. I was going through some stuff at the time so it meant a lot to me. I swear I’ll never forget that moment. I’ll cherish that hug forever. I wish her luck in her future and hope to someday see her become successful. She deserves so much love 🫂

At the end of the summer his mom came in and she said did you forget anything? And he was like one more thing and he came running and hugged me and said thank you for helping me I'm going to miss you so much. 8:14 As a girl I rarely get compliments the most I’ve gotten in a day was because I wore a dress and it was really pretty too school but sadly I had to text my mom to pick me up early because it started to hurt so much but because I was a shy girl I didn’t tell the teacher went to the restroom and texted her I went home and changed out of it i worth all the compliments But I love every compliment I receive help me feel better about myself and I have anxiety so part of it is socially when I get a compliment I get a little more social so it doesn’t just make me feel better but helps my mental health

Something I will never forget: my cousin (who’s older than me) said to me today “haha you’re old now.” Because I turned 13 today. My actual something: I was at a train station in cosplay and I was feeling very self conscious and this random stranger came up to me and started complimenting me and then left it 1. Made my self esteem go through the roof 2. Caught me off guard because every time a stranger has complimented me it’s always been a creepy old man

0:06: What a cute love story. Kudos to him, though, for slowing things down a bit and just letting things happen. 1:05: If anyone said that to me, I'd probably say something like, "You don't know me that well, do you?" 1:23: That's how it's supposed to work, even if it doesn't work out. 1:43: I've worn glasses most of my life, but I've never gotten that kind of compliment. 2:16: That's how you grow as a person, to stand up for yourself. 2:53: That's on the list of things that has never happened to me. 4:34: I have a hard time picking up on those kind of signals. 5:32: That's another on the list of things that has never happened to me. 7:11: I've had people actually tell me that. Recently I wore a dress to my work that haven't been worn for a long time because I gained some weight and one particular lady (I never spoke with but kinda bitched about me always) at my office kept talking to her friends by pointing her fingers at me, I could clearly say that they were making fun of my dress I got insecure a lot so after my shift ended I met a friend and just shared about my day while telling him about this incident and got diverted to other topic in the flow he just paused for a second , looked me up and down and said "but you look beautiful tho" Still makes my day everytime I think about it. He's such a good friend.

Around the time I first met my bestie (Same gender) about 7 to 8 years ago, I was extremely timid, negative and insecure about lot of aspects in my life, especially my character and looks. So, then one day when I was just being my usual gloomy self and commenting on how I can never look good in anything and it sucks n stuff, she casually comes and says as if stating a fact, "But you're so cute" (or something along those lines), I still remember this cause it was the first time she complimented my looks and she's the type that never gives out empty compliments. Till this day, I'm so glad this conversation happened over a text because I was so going nuts after reading the "cute" she sent. I was already kinda too fond of her back then but this incident made me realize that I was actually crushing on her. (Still have a little lingering crush on her even to this day/////////)

Something I never forgot was. My friends have never ever complemented me before. But I always give them complements. Their reactions to my complements aren’t usually the best. One friend says “I told you to stop complementing me! It’s weird! Say something mean to me for once!” So, I started to insult her looks, I said that her smile was weird and that her teeth are yellow. She then says “Wait really? My smiles weird!”. And then one of my other friends said “why would you say that?! She’s really insecure about her smile!” I replied to both of them “Oh so when she insults me everyday about things I am insecure about it’s fine but when I do it to her when she asked for it, I’m the bad guy?”. A little while later I apologized because she seemed down for the rest of the day. We’re still friends to this day and they haven’t really changed. And I still complement my friends on things I know they are insecure about, but in a good way. But I can’t really forget the way they reacted.

8:12 my friends and I all just insult each other because we're all mentally ill in some way or other, be it an eating disorder, anxiety, insomnia, or adhd/autism, or something else entirely. Also our self esteem is lower than the ocean floor, and hey, lets not get our hopes up after 1 compliment, instead, lets roll with insults since its all any of us can get out to one another aside from concern over trauma or whatever mental illness is taking effect at the moment.

Graduated last year I was 17 birthday is later on in the year I can stay home until my early twenties as long as I work or go to school If I work I have to pay phone bill and car insurance as well as my dog's food. I don't have the best track record with school grades until Senior year when it was nothing but A's Mom and dad said they'd pay half my tuition to the community College and I pay the other half and wouldn't have to pay bills so I do that. Fast forward to out deck taking three months to get build (they also didn't have a permit for this and our basement flooded with sewage) mom tells me to drop about because she doesn't feel like paying her share anymore also they were asking for money up hand not to mention she made me go online because no one wanted to drive me to the campus anymore which was the same place I was being taken to when I had College courses high school junior and senior year. I drop out and start looking for a job but can't because my mom doesn't feel like taking and my dad had three surgeries last year and was recovering from one at the time. I would drive myself but no one felt like taking me to get my permit until last year and I have barely any experience to get a license now not to mention my dad couldn't take me because of his surgeries he was recovering from and my mom doesn't trust me🌝 Go to now almost a year later (practically) and I've been trying to find a job and now I have two weeks to find one or they're making me go to school I rather be homeless we've been having these conversations about school or working ever since she told me to drop out this shit wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for her I honestly can't stand the woman any longer and our relationship has always been rocky I'm on a cliff at the moment with my depression and being off the meds ever since my therapist up and left me if I'm still alive when I move out and later in life find a guy and get married I'll never forget her telling me to drop out causing me so much stress to the point I want to die

I remember reading a story about guys getting compliments; and this guy said he passed a young mother with two kids, and heard her say quietly "Nice legs!" And men should get compliments, with no strings attached, right? If they're looking good today, we should tell them. Doesn't have to mean we're hitting on them, but complimenting a man (as a woman) gets unnecessarily complicated really quickly, which is why guys miss out a lot.

I am one of those guys who totally missed obvious hints from girls. The worst was when a friend showed up at my door wearing nothing but a towel with some contrived story about how she and her boyfriend got in a fight and she left like that. I just took the story at face value and loaned her some clothes. I was actually quite interested in her and never pursued it because she was one of those pretty girls who always seemed to have a boyfriend. Missed my chance.

I hate being the one girls/women feel "safe with" as it always follows that I will make an awesome/amazing boyfriend or husband for "someone else"... and I have yet to meet "someone else"

+Carlos Arturo Velarde Do you think they don't feel safe around their boyfriends or husbands then? This just sounds like another way of saying 'girls only go for the douchebag' which is as harmful as it is false.
@CarlosArturoVelarde
@CarlosArturoVelarde 2 жыл бұрын
@@kellycowley3535 you would need to ask them because I have no idea. But when they tell me they like hanging out with me and start changing clothes in front of me, and I then ask them to be more than friends they just tell me I’ll be a great bf/husband for someone else and they did that because they feel safe and beautiful around me. So I’m all sorts of confused about that.

@@CarlosArturoVelarde You keep implying that they want a 'different boyfriend because they feel safe around you' like that has to be and can be the only reason they aren't romantically interested. Maybe you just aren't their type, maybe they see you like a brother, maybe they just don't think you are boyfriend/husband material, maybe there is a completely different reason. As a women I hate the 'girls only go after the douche-bag trope' because sooner or later it ends up translating to 'I'll purposefully abuse women so I'm more likely to get sex' and in some cases that even lead to r*** with 'well I got sex'. I just, this is why men can't be trusted.
@CarlosArturoVelarde

@@kellycowley3535 I am implying nothing. I am merely stating facts that I have lived. Why are you being so defensive? Do you get naked in front of your brother? I certainly do not get naked in front of any of my siblings. That is gross. If they don’t think I’m bf/husband material why do they tell me I am, just for someone else? As a man who is up-front and honest 100% of the time, caring and protective of my family and everyone I care about, and someone who does not believe in sex before marriage, I hate the “I’ll purposely abuse women so I can get laid” portrayal of those of us genuinely trying to understand what is going on. Being told “you’re perfect husband material” then qualifying it with “for someone else” makes zero sense to me.

@@CarlosArturoVelarde Your first comment said that you dislike being the one they feel safe around then went on to say it was because it meant they see you as a good boyfriend/husband for someone else (and not for them). Even if it wasn't intentional this does imply that you think they don't want you because they feel safe around you. I explained that it sounds a bit like 'girls only go for the douchebags' and I explained why I don't like that phrase but a part of me getting defensive is also due to how much harmful phrases like that is spread around online and how many people can get hurt (or end up trying to hurt others) because of it. (The phrase on it's own might not do much but if it is said with a bunch of other sexist bullsh*t, abuse tactics and such it can lead people down a dangerous path.) I do not get naked in front of my siblings or anyone else and I personally find it weird that they do that. At the same time though there are quite a few people that just aren't self conscious about being naked in front of families, friends or even strangers (nudist beaches). As for being told you make a perfect husband for someone else, like they might think you would make a good husband but just aren't into you that way or they might just be trying to reject you nicely (which might be because some men/people don't take rejection very well, or maybe they prefer to be nice about it than honest.) The thing is I don't know why. I am not them and different women will react/do things differently so if you want to know why they do that you'll have to ask them.

Sorry a funny story came to mind. I'll never forget the day we went to the amusement park and when we went on the train and my mom fell flat on her butt and went "oh!" LOL she didn't know the seat was low. And one time me and my dad went to a movie theater he ordered pretzel bites he spelled the cheese all over himself on the floor and the seat funniest part was he was wearing a white hoodie LOL again so sorry just had to share that because I still think it's hilarious

Ok story time I was once at a school thing and I was upset for whatever reason so I went into the bathroom (it was one of those bathrooms that was it’s own room with a bendy door) and I thought I locked the door….but no. THE FREAKING DOOR WAS UNLOCKED!! A woman came in and I was hiding in the shower (the curtain was there) I just had to stay there and wait until there was no people (I locked it after she left). And that’s the story of how I was dumb enough to not lock a door properly. 🥲😆
