Not a southern thing but a Walmart thing, once a fight broke out near the milk and dairy end of the store. I could hear the shuffling and someone shouting "they fightin'! They fightin'!" Like the doors opening on black Friday everyone rushed to see the fight... Except for me and this 1 elderly lady. We turned in the opposite direction. We locked eyes for a moment nodded in understanding and kept moving away from the fight. In my mind I'm thinking "In a horror movie situation, she's gonna be on my team and we're gonna live."

I worked at a Walmart for almost two years once. I was even part of the crew that built the interior of the store. All of this is right on point. The chicken thing is true. I could tell you much, much worse. I really loved the shot of the instock group's pallets on the floor, which was SOP. People have no idea how busy the store gets at night after the last customers leave until the doors open in the morning. The stores are usually heavily restocked and cleaned every night.

We had a really bad storm come thru...not a tornado but a straight-line wind came through and knocks down the walls that were partially up. I remember my mom holding me looking through the window in the front door and my siblings all looking out the other window. It was wild. They rebuilt it and it had a Safeway on one end. I've gone to the checkout only to abandon my cart and leave due to the 25+ people waiting in line at each register. It kills me when I walk down that death row gauntlet at the front of the store, spy what looks to be a shorter line at the far end, and take my place in line, only to hear a little "ahem" from behind me. Look back, and sure enough, there's 10-12 more people in line back around the corner of the aisle or between the clothing racks. This makes me nervous. I’m surprised they they didn’t call it a coin shortage. More “end times” stuff. In my opinion. 😬

The stores in my town do this also. And only one check out for using cash so you spend an eternity in line.

Same here. I went to a check out, did not notice it was cashless. My bill was $9.30. I put in a $10 bill, expecting 70 cents in change. One of the employees supervising noticed this and told me I was not going to receive any change. I went to the Service Desk and explained what happened. The lady at that desk reached into her cash drawer and handed me 70 cents. Now that is service. QUESTION: why would Walmart have check outs that do not take cash? Sounds like this is more convenient for WM than the customer.

They definitely take anything back at Walmart. The other day I bought an Instant Pot heating blender. Opened the box up at home and could tell immediately it was a return. Not only was it used, as evidenced by the dried food and liquid on the base, it looked like it had been dropped off a balcony. No instruction manual, no accessories.

You should have mentioned the chicken bones inside the baby diaper. At least here in New Mexico, it's extremely common to see rotisserie chicken bones inside or next to a baby's diaper. I don't know what that means, but I see it all the time here.

Thin bags.....she ain't lyin. I like to do self check now so I can double-bag and triple-bag each item individually. Then when I get home I use my different colors of duct tape I got at the Dollar Tree to put "band-aids" on the holes. Good as new!!! I like to be creative. 😊

I always tell my kids how Walmart used to be a wheat field. And I will continue to tell them that until they have kids and then I'll tell their kids.
