Oh my gosh Aly all the tips you’re providing are spot on . I too wish looking back I hadn’t beat myself up for taking the meds as it just added to the anxiety 😟 we don’t realise when we are in the thick of it .. I’m lucky like yourself I have beaten my insomnia . It was chronic and I had it for 18 months. The sleep coach community helped tremendously 😌

I found this incredibly helpful at the point I am now. I was doing quite well at the beginning of my journey, but now I seem to be making no progress and missing sleep night after night. At 80 years old, I don't have the energy I would like to keep going in the daytime after a sleepless night. Meds may need to be reintroduced.

@ I am so sorry to hear about that . I hope you get the help you need if you start on the medication again . I was on medication for 18 months, I tried sleeping tablets zoplicane, then amitryptyline, then stopped those and ended up on Prozac for anxiety which kicked in eventually . I put other tools in place too like sticking to getting up at 6am every morning and only going to bed when I was falling asleep on the sofa .. I also listened to a boring podcast on my iPad in bed .. then I would drop off . This all helped . After 18 months of taking Prozac I’m almost weaned off it and in the next few days that will be it ! I will keep my other tools in place and hope I continue with my insomnia free life .. I know what you’re going through .. I used to go night after night with zero sleep it was horrendous. That will be two yrs ago this summer . I hope this has helped a little x

@@janinekayso helpful as I am also in the thick not it for now 18 months. It Al started after I had my daughter. The medication is not even working but I am hopeful. How bad was your insomnia?

@@janinekay Really helpful to hear your struggles. I had weaned off lorazapam, but will need to go back on. The zopiclone wasn't working. I will need to see my doctor to get any other meds. I fell asleep for a short while last night in front of tv, but going to bed I just didn't drop off. Does it help to have a tv in the bedroom?

Thank you so much. I beat myself up for getting meds but I knew I was suffering from my sleep deprivation for years and covid hit I lost every bit of hope to cope and went on meds and people blame me for taking meds to sleep.
@freshdumpling6 сағат бұрын
Then I went on groups that took my meds and they were saying how horrible those meds are and I started to plot to stop these meds and was more stressed than ever and ended up in ER

Aly, do you think the SSRI and mirtazapine helped you deal with the insomnia? Looking back now, would you take the medication again?
@ann-b3nКүн бұрын
Hi Aly, unfortunately there are people who react very strongly to medication. I have tried many medications to help me and I had terrible side effects and a terrible withdrawal even though these antidepressants are not supposed to be addictive. Everything should always be approached with caution.

@ann-b3n It's true! Everyone's journey is going to look different. We don't give medical advice of course! Just sharing my experience. Everyone needs to do what is best for them! ☺️ Thanks for listening

I don't understand you, first they tell you in the course education that all sleep is produced by you, that no medicine can produce sleep, and then they tell you that it's okay to take a medicine from time to time, come to an agreement with the back and forth, and no one can fix it, you confuse all your teachings, men🙄🙄🙄🙄
