Two of the best. I love the insight you both provide. I had a rough bout with insomnia for a few months and totally agree that recovery is so sporadic. It is not linear. It also takes much longer than we’d like or want. With time and the right mindset the body just figures it out for u

@ hi Ann. Nothing u can “do” just continue to accept the fact that’s where you are in your recovery. Think of it as recovery stages. The fact that u are now getting sleep shows you’re heading in the right direction. I too went thru that stage. Over time the length of sleep should improve and you will notice you’re not waking up as much only after a few hours. Hope that helps :-)

I think I've almost recovered. I am now sleeping 9 hours and rarely struggling. I noticed that as my sleep anxiety decreased, I started sleeping better. I also never stopped seeing my doctor. I stopped taking sleeping pills and started a different medication, which wasn’t exactly a sleeping pill but, according to my doctor, it mimics melatonin. But I believe most of the credit for my improved sleep goes to the reduction in sleep anxiety or the fear of not sleeping. Initially, my anxiety was so overwhelming that I was only getting 2-3 hours of sleep or having sleepless nights. As the anxiety decreased, I started sleeping 5-6 hours with frequent awakenings. Now, I sleep more like a normal person, although I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night but fall back asleep immediately. So all I want to say is trust the process. And yes fear is truly the real culprit.

@@lillianyoukhana8451 agomelatine 25mg, if you want to take any kind of med, please ask your doctor first. It's primarily an antidepressant but my doctor gave it to me for sleep purposes only. She said it will reduce sleep anxiety in me and also help me sleep without interruption.
