THINGS TO CHECK BEFORE OWNING A VXR

Never stamp on the gas on a cold start up until the engine/ oil has reached optimum temperature.. I always take it easy on cold start up and never put mine in VXR mode until the engine has warmed up to the right temperature..

My first vxr had so many problems. 5th and 6th bearings gone, turbo went 2 weeks after I got it because previous owner jamed the actuator shut against the cat clamp, rocker cover was leaking, one of the IDS+ shockers had gone which cost £375 because you cant get them aftermarket, the oil valve stem seals had gone too, replaced the AFL projector headlights because they were pretty much cross eyed (motors had gone) It looked so good once it was road worthy tho. I'll hopefully own my next one soon. No matter if the car has good MOTs and FSH always take it a run and check for blue smoke, make sure it boosts properly and if it's got the additional extras make sure they work before spending all your money on it.

Gutted I sold mine 2 months ago, really miss it, blown the money on Christmas and bills instead. It was a stage 3 with a ko4 core and full remus exhaust. Sounded mental.

Hayden mate next time you fill up, check the filler flap. There's a little slot where the cap slides into while you fill up. Saves you having to put the cap on the roof. 👍👍

As you said most common steam seals blue smoke, gearbox bearings wine or movement in the stick, recivc valve split you get turkey noise, cam gasket and boost solenoid, manifolds like to crack and the penny valve in the turbo crack too I'm sure there more I've missed. As for the blue smoke if you have a modded exhaust best to get oil restrictor bolt will help with the smoke, good video as always 👍🏼

I allways put Aral (BP) Ultimate 102 into my Corsa VXR. It is mandatory to go for minimum 100 octane.

Check the setting on your jet wash it might be on patio cleaning spray pattern, this will peel lacquer and paint off. Also if you take it to a hand car wash god knows what chemicals they’re spraying on your car.

i just bought mine a month ago the gearbox is going, cracked alloy,worn lifters so its costing me to replace but once theyre done theyre so fun to drive make sure to frequently service the car, change the gearbox oil every 12k and dont bounce it off the limiter and they are reliable cars

That flaky paint is the after effects of a doggy paint job always check to see if a cars been painted if you can tell it’s not a good job 👍

Nice video mate when I come to buy one I’ll watch it again if I forget 👌🏼 I went to look at one from a dealers they said it was a px but he gave me a massive discount on it .. which automatically you no it’s a wrongen so looked over it and bottom of the engine was just painted with oil

Not only does it look and sound great, it also flies away when you slam the gas😁 only had problem with the turbo tho so it’s at a mechanic, otherwise it’s a really great car and I absolutely recommend it. Just check carefully when you buy one for that price👍🏼

@@selfishear3618 ah the infamous turbo issues 😂 at least it wasn’t the gearbox, I’ve got about a month left of Saving and I’ve seen a couple of good ones come up. Really looking for one that’s had the gearbox bearings done and obviously other maintenance work, I can’t wait mate. Has yours been mapped do you know?

And no one ever mentions the coolant hoses if these go and the car over heats these engines are f*cked so a must for me is to replace the coolant lines

yes i will replace mine soon. Aslo good to mention that with silicone hoses have to use original clamps, because chep clamps will cut silicone.

I'd just go get it forged n buy a fat turbo if I got one, even if it's already done just refresh the gaskets n do stems if need be. They worth it, future classic nicer than the j vxr aswell! I got a red corsa e vxr it gets sum hate but the interior is nice the black recaro's are better than grey but the roof should be black aswell👍

Nice video mate had several Vauxhall’s over the years Astra GTEs and they all suffered with leaky rocker cover gaskets apart from that they were great cars never owned a VXR but had a vectra Sri worst car ever owned suspension broke and had cam sensor fail temp sensor fail shame the old cars were way better 👍🏻

On the Corsa E VXR I own it says on the inside of the petrol cap ‘99 octane only’ so I just do what I’m told 😂

valve stem spring tool a tenner...... cover off compress the spring needle nose C clip pliers, c clip off slide the bush off then use fishing baiting needle pierce the stem seal rubber pull out slide new one on, clip spring jobs a good one 25 mins 60 quid at a garage

Only thing my astra arctics had is a fucked box (bought it with a fucked one) and its burning a touch of oil(valve strm seals) they survive fine on 95-97 ron but going to strat running mine constantly on 99 Bought my corsa clubsport sight unsenn by accident but its an absolute bog standard super low miles one

Honda Civic type R is a good one, I have had one they go pretty well, they also handle better than VXRs, but the vxr would be quicker straight line

Focus, best Astra I’ve had is the 150 sri diesel had 240k on it never missed a beat, vxrs seem to break every time you bray them 😂

I think mine needs stem seals done like .. on sitting in idle for while white smoke on from exhaust. Had a slide into a kurb at xmass in snow too no my steering wheel isnt central was only 5mph into kurb...and my exhaust is blowing hopefully its not the manifold crack ha... never use my car just sits in the garage
