Perhaps you should have mentioned that on the '77 there was a lever below the key switch that you had to contort your fingers to push down to turn the key back and remove it. Takes a bit of getting used to. If that doesn't work properly you'd be screwed.

Been wondering; Are there any aftermarket steering columns for the c3 which collapse in a collision? To avoid the chest impaling problem

I think just about all cars were built with collapsible steering columns by 1968.

I have an issue with the high beam switch. When I pull back on it, it doesn’t work. Mine is a 78. I’ve looked on KZbin to find a decent video to show me how to fix it but I have yet to find one. Any help would be appreciated

Might just need adjusted. It is located on the bottom of the column and can move up or down. If it’s far enough down it might not click all the way

I have a question for anyone. 79 vette, when I push the turn signal arm to turn right, it finally clicks and holds but feels very spongy/loose before doing so. When I push the turn signal arm to turn left, it never clicks, holds or there is no turn signal light, probably because no contact within the mechanism. What exact part should I buy to correct this problem and make it work correctly? Thank you very much for any advice I am given. Your help is very appreciated.

My 78 had the same problem...next thing I know I was holding the turn signal arm in my hand. It didn't snap; it just gave way.

⁠@@that_thing_I_do thanks for the comment and sorry for the late reply. So how did you fix the problem, or do you now drive with the driver window down so you can signal with your hand? By the way, yours falling out into your hand is far worse than my situation. I simply refuse to use my turn signal now, in fear mine ends up like yours. I figured I would get a definitive answer to my problem here in the comments but I see I now need to go to a vette forum and ask around there. If and when I find something out there, I will let you know though and maybe too it will help you correct your basically same problem. Thanks!
