They are constantly adding and changing things in the museum. So, if you saw it 5 years ago or even 2 years ago, it is worth going again.

My family and I visited probably 20 years ago. I remember it being a great experience. My greatest fascination was with the flying boats, particularly the open cockpit round-the-world plane. This museum is almost comparable to the Udvar-Hazy Annex in Chantilly, VA, (Dulles Airport) in terms of aircraft on exhibit.

Ooh 😮 I’ve never heard of that exhibit in Virginia! We’ll have to put that on the list to check out. Thanks for telling us about it and thanks for watching!~ Nat

Just an hour and a half from nearby Mobile, we frequent Naval Aviation Pensacola. The Blue Angels practice there most every Tuesday and Wednesday from March through October - check their schedule posted online.

I was there before 2007 and yes the museum is bigger than I thought. I spent most of my time on the ground floor of the museum. I can understand why you’re son was a bit overwhelmed even for an aircraft nerd like myself there is a lot to take in. I do recommend the cafe bar and the food was good. They really do have the (West pac) plaques that list the ships and navy carrier air wings that participated in those Cold War exercises, I don’t know of any other place that civilians get to see that kind of stuff. I think at the time i got a drink refill it’s good idea hydrate it was hot that day before leaving the cafe and museum its Florida. I like your idea of grabbing a map and “zoning it out” to see what you want to see by interest. Wished i could have stayed overnight closer to that area alas I had a larger family trip. I do remember having gone to other military museums on bases the security requirements differ from time to time check with the museums web site or call ahead and find out so you can spend more time at the museum.

The cafe was something that we definitely wished we could have tried while we were there. Also, the simulation rides upstairs. It is so huge! I do agree staying somewhere close overnight and being able to spend more time at the museum would be great. Thanks so much for the additional insight and information and thanks for watching! ~ Nat

can I go to the museum WITHOUT being formal military? When did this change?
@OffOurCouch4 ай бұрын
Yes, you can! It changed recently because we were unable to go in 2022 without being accompanied by someone who was military or DOD. When we went last year, the museum was open to the public 😊 Thanks for watching~ Nat

My dad had a condo at Mirabella for man years and I would get to take the family down for a week each year and we would go to the museum every year. Looks like it has changed some as it would every year just a little. I thought it was cool that the floor in the WW2 area is the deck from the aircraft carrier that G.H.W. Bush flew off of during the war. The walk down main st. Is very cool too. If you go, go w or someone or kids that do not want to spend all day
