To make it fair you should make it a rule that boats have to use the green ramps. That way they have to time it more instead of blindly driving right next to the planks. Also you can place some kind of wall on either side of the planks that holds them in place so that they don't drift away after 2 mins.

2020 re-watching (TY KZbin recommendations...), and I was thinking (dangerous, I know): could they put little mini walls on the sides of the floating platforms to keep them somewhat straight? Haven't worked with the editor, so I don't know if it is possible to have the walls/ramps stationary, keeping the platforms somewhat in a straight line AND do so with the large waves. Or maybe setup the course on the lake, with a floating platform for the bikes, so there wouldn't be THAT many waves?
