We have a lot of these in Botswana as well; fireworks even on a small scale in neighbourhoods, concerts at clubs and the like. Some Christians will spend the whole night in Church and only leave in the morning - this is called Crossover. The rest of us go on vacation or visit family, but there isn't any specific dish for the New Year celebrations.
