Bailey The Beagle Hello, my family is looking for a dog. We are first time owners and aren’t sure what breed. We are looking into a beagle, we aren’t home throughout the day from about 7:30 to 4:10. Do you think it’s a good idea that we get a beagle or go for a different breed?

My name is Bailey and I’m getting a beagle next week. Coincidence? I think not
@BaileyTheBeagle5 жыл бұрын
I think all dog breeds would have a tough time at home alone for that long, but we do have to leave Bailey alone from time to time and she does pretty good on her own in her kennel. She enjoys the quiet time and gets her naps in 😊🐶😊

Great question and good on you for doing your research ahead of time. Basic training should include the simple sit, lay down, and with Bailey we also make her wait for her food so she doesn't jump all over us. As for discipline, if your pup is doing something you don't want, just say no. They will quickly learn that no means they are doing something that you don't like. Each pup is different and you'll find techniques and things that work well with your new pup.

I have owned beagles all my life (57) and will only have beagles. I have never had a barker, all in the training. We have 2 and the last 2 sets of beagles were sisters litter mates. They are super with kids, extremely loyal, faithful, happy and extremely loving dogs.

My Beagle: -Unknown age, probably 7 -Rescued from the ASPCA -Still not potty trained -Demon Dog -Flipping HARD to train -Chubby -Kind, Sweet and dumb -Knows better, but decides to be bad -She LOVES sweaters. Whenever we put one on her, she starts hopping around and wagging her tail. All we have to do is hold it, then she’ll put her head in and lift her paws so she can wear it. -Adorable Tri-color -The best dog I could ever ask for ❤️ (Her name is Rosie)

This was a Great Video,, and quite nostalgic for me,, when I was about 10 or 11, Our Beagle was missing for over a month, will never forget it, as I missed a day of school do to it. Any how,, my buddy who lived in the Country had asked me to come to his house in the Country, and hang out for the day, so my Mom spoke to his Mom to see if it was cool. She said sure. So this Saturday Morning I was dropped off at RayRay's House for the day. We,, of course ended up outdoors to see the Horses.. I was a pretty loud kid,, and always laughing. All at once we hears a Crying Whimpering Dog. Did not stop...All of ma sudden,, we witnessed an Animal Racing through the field.... it was my Stolen Beagle,, he heard my voice and hardy laughter and knew it was me. Was the happiest day at the time of my life,, I never had had thought I would ever see Skip again,, the Deputies were called,, due to the neighbor coming over after him,,, big mistake on his part. He was arrested,, for hitting the Deputy, ans other Charges. Sorry but I had to tell this unforgettable story of a Dedicated Loving Beagle. Thanks for the video.

One day we took trip out of state, when we got home heard crying and pawing on car door, someone had her tied up and she got free and found her way home, 1st time I ever seen my dad cry. I’ve had beagles most all my life. They are /were my hunting dogs during the day and house pets at night. They do take some getting used to and different training methods They are a working/sporting breed. They are hardwired to hunt. It been bred into them for generations. They live and die by there nose. Be ready for them to follow it off into the distance while ignoring your calls. They are stubborn and hard headed. If they want to do something, they usually will. One of mine took to chasing deer instead of rabbits. I heard tons of ideas to stop him but the best one was to take away something he wanted more. So one morning I managed to get in between him and the deer he was trailing and was standing in its tracks when Sam got there. He stops in the trail and gives me the “kid caught in the cookie jar” look. I never touched him. I made him follow me back to the truck on my heels. Wouldn’t let him stop to sniff or anything. Put him in him kennel in the truck and hunted the rest of the day without him. I never knew of him to chase another deer again. They are protective. I think they would jump a grizzly bear if they thought they needed to. If you take good care of them, they are long lived. But tend to be susceptible to cancer later in life. I’ve had several make it to their teens. Sam is 15 now and retired from hunting. His arthritis keeps him out of the field these days but he still tries to “shake the thickets” when I take him anywhere. After you’ve spent time with them , their beagle “braawll” bark is pure music. Especially knowing he’s hot on the heels of a fast moving cottontail. I wouldn’t trade any beagle I’ve had for anything

I've had my beagle for a week already, he is now 9 weeks old and is the cutest little brat I could have. He loves to chew, play, run, chew, grab ankles, socks, slippers, chew and he loves to eat. He is learning pretty quickly with treats and praise, is so smart that now he just sits or lays down in anticipation to a treat before I even prompt him. I am happy to have him, just one week in and my little Asher sticks by my side already. If I sit, he lays by my feet, when I lay down he goes to his bed in my room and lays down, when I get up to walk, yup, he gets up to walk with me. This is just week 1, I can imagine the rest of our lifetime 🥰 in my case, Womans best friend. God made dogs so amazingly cool. God bless your Bailey, she's a cutie for sure.

Bailey reminds me of my Beagle. He used to grab the end of a toilet paper roll and run through the whole house. We would come home and toilet paper would be on the first floor, the second floor, on the stairs, and in the back yard if we forgot to close the doggie door. He used to jump on kitchen counter tops and he would eat the food left up there. Training is hard; but be patient and persistent. I love Beagles! Bailey is the cutest!

The dislikes are probably because this video gives no vital information to someone who's never had a Beagle. Beagles aren't for everyone. It takes a very patient and disciplined human to be owned by a Beagle. Done get me wrong, Beagles are great, Bailey is adorable and I will never have any other breed of dog but a Beagle. My boy Sarge is 12 and still thinks he's 2, still ornery, but at least in his senior years I can let him outside off lease under extremely watchful eyes.

@@MarineReconinDe [nods] i disliked it because frankly, most of the stuff stated seemed to be pretty nonsensical. ~solo cup thing... Seriously? people coming to see what an actual beagle owner has to say about the breed and you went with a solo cup. oi.~ as a former beagle owner (my health makes it unfair for me to have one any more... they need a Lot of exercise and play time & my body just can't any more. [deep sighs]) a lot of the "points" just struck me as they were making a joke video but didn't really preface it to explain that to a non-owner looking for help deciding. 1.nothing about how they're seriously intelligent and that's part of why training can be a hand-full. (if you aren't consistent, they'll play you Big Time for it) 2.nothing about their hyper energy and stamina or their stubborn willfulness when they set their minds to something... (they'll track something Non-stop, Regardless of Anything else... be it you yelling for them to stop or an oncoming pickup truck) 3.nothing about their sense of loyalty or how sensitive they can be to their family... (they know they're clowns and if you're upset or sad, they will do their damnedest/funniest/cutest routine to try cheering you up) 4.or even about how they can and Will eat their way through a month's worth of food in a hurry if you let them... (had a friend who thought if they left a bunch of food down while they went on vacation, that it would last for the day and a half before the sitter came to stay with him... nope. dopey dog ate the whole thing and then threw up, ate That, threw up Again and then chewed the wicker chairs by the time the sitter got there actually less than a day later. they came back four days later to a vet bill and a freaked out sitter and no wicker furniture... eyah, That was great.) 5.or that sadly, they'll tolerate somebody being mean to them for forever but that Same love will be even stronger to the person that rescues them and loves them unconditionally. (don't wanna talk about it... all i will say is some people should be aborted Before they can do damage in this world.)

He loved to go for walks and a car ride. he help me wash the car by licking the water and then the side of the car. He loved to sit in an arm chair with you paw around your neck and watch TV. He did like to come when called it was a great game for him. I use to have to find a place whear he had to come in a small gap to grab him. The second beagle I had was about 8 weeks when i had him. Someone gave me rabbit fur earmuffs years ago ( I would never buy them) and my beagle went crazy for them! I have to say they were the warmest earmuffs l ever had. The headband snapped and they were no more.

My beagle name is Asumi, awesome puppy (7months) potty trained.where i live is extremely cold, this morning was -46f -42c So owning beagle is hard. Most people have fluffy dogs like golden retriever etc. My beagle will jog on treadmill and enjoys her run cuz she won't be able to run around outside other than relieving herself

Well hello Asumi! Love that name. Stay warm my friend. That is very very cold!

First off, Bailey is darling, adorable, lovable, and cute as can be❣️ Secondly, Beagles can be rather stubborn... I mean really stubborn❣️ But they are good-natured, cuddly, wonderful dogs❣️ Simply put, Beagles Rule❣️❣️❣️

Well put Donna. So true. They can be the most good-natured, loving companion, and then, like a stubborn teenager, flick a switch and defy you in almost a humorous way, then go back to being cute and cuddly. Ohhh, Beagles lol

Unlike our previous beagles she is quiet she will stalk the squirrel in yard and in neighbors through our fence, if it is dark out she goes out on leash as skunks come through fence and she has got nailed 3 times .....silly beagle . At end of day she goes upstairs to sleep before we do...gotta love a beagle

I just love dogs ! I lost my Baby dog with 20 years old. It’s very difficult time. But I am thankful because God gave me the opportunity to have them with me for so long time. We know the tome will never be enough, but 20 years I just can’t complain. My dog wasn’t a beagle, but any dog, the are just the best. Their love is so big, it’s so marvelous, it’s indescribable. I am very happy because i lived with dogs. They teach us everyday. I hope one day the humans will learn to love them too. Love him as much as you can, give him all the live you can give. He will never forget you. Let him sleep inside your bedroom, Dogs , They are the best always. 🌷😘🙏💝

Love and good care that’s all they need. 🌷😘🙏💝

Oh wow, this is the breed we are looking for!! I don't trust sites online and trying just asking people, etc. Some places I've tried have prices that are just crazy like close to 2,000. Aaah.... it's suggested to try shelters, but the sweet dogs I've found there are older, like 2-3 old and not beagles. Not having any luck. If someone here reading this knows of a reputable place in PA (not Lancaster please where I know it has a reputation for puppy mills), I'd be so appreciative. We just want a beagle to add to our home. Thank you.

I have but unfortunately most of the potential adoptions are for mixed breed beagles. In Florida the prices for full blood Beagle are beyond our budget.
@heathers88265 жыл бұрын
Mine isn't a full blood beagle. He's mixed with a Bassett so he looks and acts like a beagle with longer ears. Plus, he's known as a "bagel", which I think is awesome.

You’ll get addicted to the breed, even if you get frustrated. It’s hard to accept that they’re hounds first, and you can be 2 feet from one, screaming a command, and you might as well be invisible. And this is even with one you’ve had for 10 years. It’s still worth it...
@BaileyTheBeagle5 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Once you understand their breed characteristics and don't get frustrated by it, you will get addicted to them and understand why lots of people love them :)

Poops 3 times, and piss a ton within an hour. if not,he will poop inside. -Emo: Wants attention for a good 5 minutes, then wants to be alone. -Howls at big fluffy dogs only like Husky's. -Hard headed also but knows better. -Loves to snack, and will try to walk behind you so he can grab garbage food in the street. -Will never set his paws in the kitchen until you leave the apt.
