We were glad we brought hiking poles it helped with some steep hikes and when it was rainy. One example is Bridal veil falls was a short hike but it did rained and it was tricky going down the numerous steps Fergburger was definitely overrated!

Totally agree-hiking poles can be a lifesaver on steep or rainy trails, and Fergburger is often hyped beyond what it delivers. You know my opinion on that haha!

I haven't watch the program since I took my trip. A trip that was great and made so by following their exploits and advice. They encouraged questions... whether trivial or fact finding. It was like a family get together each Saturday. You got to know the other followers. Keeping in mind this was the time of COVID. Every now and then I duck in to see what's happening and perhaps finding out about the fellow Canadians you could count on to be part of the discussion every week. They seem to have dissapeared... as I have. Don't know if - as you say - they are boring now. Can only tell you that they were great ambassadors for New Zealand then and a "can't miss" to watch for an hour a week. You must have caught an off week
