Super good advice Fran! I gave my tuner(Chuck at HHP) a budget and gave him free reign to choose parts and build the way he invisioned. Pay once cry once, Super excited to see how it comes together 🙂

Talked to Bill at RPM, advised that a pro charger is better for high HP drivability and 1/4 mile over a whipple or otherwise. Went with the recommendations added some billet goodies and couldn’t be happier with the performance and outcome. The satin gray wrapped Camaro SS in the intro is mine.

The other benefit of having the shop supply and fit the parts, is quality assurance. Shops like RPM typically deal direct with suppliers, so they know the quality & tolerances of the parts they purchase. Which is important, especially for engine parts.

Solid advice from Fran, I've seen too many online (and done so myself) buying parts for the wrong reasons then expecting them to all work and fit well together.

I agree with you! At 18 years old. I built a 1979 Mustang Cobra edition 302! I ordered off of then PAW mail-order back then! The car ended up running decent, but I put the wrong heads on the car for the engine I built! It actually ran okay but wouldn't pull past 5,000 rpm because of the head flow! Yes, I could beat most of my buddies, but could have been better!

the only problem with shops going with their "recommended" parts is not every shop is as trustworthy as you and they will take advantage of the customer and use parts that might not be better but they make more profit on.

I def planned on asking the shop prior to purchasing any parts for my car. Why? idk anything about cars, yeah i was able to diagnose a collapsed lifter solo, and im pretty sure i know what upgrades are needed so i dont have metal from turnnion pins in my oil anymore, but i always assume the shop has had waaay more experience with what works and what doesnt. My plan was to say this is what i wanna see done and hopefully the shop recommends me the right parts to go at least 2 years without an issue, as i dont drive too hard unless necessary. also chevy said 6k to fix my collapsed lifter on cyl 6. whoever had my car before me did stuff that voided my warranty so i guess upgrades arent a bad idea eh?

I'm just having mine tuned on 93. I never really go to the track, so I don't feel the need to have a 100 octane tune. With what I'm having done he said I should be around 700whp, but yeah I'll let you know what it makes once it goes on the dyno!@@stackenali7059
