Whatever he said is just an aspect of this exam that is true for any other exam. The other exams he mentioned, it's the same for them also. Around 10,00,000 people apply for UPSC CSE. Out of which, around 5,00,000 people appear for UPSC CSE Prelims. About 50% of them, got washed away. Out of these 5lakh people, only around 50K-60K people are actually preparing hard for it. Many of them will be washed away again. Out of these people, around 10K will get selected to UPSC Mains. Out of which 2K-3K, appear for interview. Then only near to 1000 will get selected. So your competition is among only 60,000candidates. So you must be among those 60,000 candidates, and never get out of way even as you face distraction and frustration during your long preparation journey (without fail, these 2things will be faced for each and everyone one who is actually preparing hard for it). So prepare well and do well. ---- The above lines is not said by me, I don't remember the name who said it, but it was said by the one who is or was in service by clearing UPSC CSE exam.(Around 10,00,000 .......... and do well.) *** If you have appeared for UPSC CSE Interview, but not selected for the service, you may get Central Government Job, if recommended by Union Public Service Commission*** At last to say, I am also an UPSC CSE Aspirant of 18years age.

Mr. Roman you are good at spreading paranoia, it's true that this exam is difficult, but your portrayal is scary. There is a thing called 'procedural coolness' everybody needs that to finish anything that he/she is comfortable with in the long run. You portray certain subjects as stupid and boring.What you should know is that by clearing an exam you can not take 'writ large' to judge what's boring and what's interesting. I think you need to have more facts so that you can be balanced in your analysis.

brother he is right....search everywhere on Google there are lectures,videos,articles that give motivation to you....but rarely few go to the intricacies of it....you must analyse both sides of the coin ....

~Prep time -Atleast 2 yrs ~Atleast 4 serious attempt (2nd /3rd attempt , holds probability of selection) ~Hardwork ruthlessly (no other way for selection) ~Plan B because 99.9%will not get their name in pdf. ~IAS is one service out of many [(1/20+) What if you get others ]. ~Can look over other exams in order to support your family . (Low selection rate in UPSC) ~Loneliness. (Be mentally prepared) ~Clear your why....? ( Internal motivation) ~Have to study boring subjects. ~Analysis of exam pattern +Syllabus+pyqs . ~Consistency for a long time. (6-7 hrs daily)
