Re: kayak seats - Why not get a gear bag you can straddle if you need to paddle kneeling/sitting? With a little ingenuity I could put something together that would give me access to items I'd want during the trip and mean I don't have to buy another after market product.

I used to Kayak about 15 years ago. I stopped kayaking figuring I would eventually bite the dust. I plan on buying a SUP for class III water to get back into easy going river sports. I know nothing about SUPs. With an hour of research, I am down to deciding between two boards: hala atcha vs hydrus AXIS98. Does the retractable fin on Hala Atcha provide any advantage over your board?

Hey, thanks for reaching out! Their retractable fin thing (stomp box)... Well, I like Hala. Like their efforts in ingenuity!! I like the ownder. we don't care for the stomp box. I know some riders in really shallow areas that do -their ambassadors will say they do and it's better than not having a shallow water plan at all or normal longer fin. Cons: youre stuck with that one center fin option... It's not the best fin for a lot of situations. It can break. I think they gone to lengths to make it better over the years but the spring could break as well as other parts. Ours just works... use shallower fins that come included and you'll glide over rocks. Use the included longer fins in areas where you need more fin surface area. It's pretty much ideal, simple and no gimmicks -which is our motto :)
