When you hear 'methamphetamine,' you likely think of illicit drug use and crime dramas. But did you know there's a legal, FDA-approved form of meth called Desoxyn, prescribed for ADHD and obesity?
In this video, Dr. Sanil Rege sheds light on this powerful stimulant's dual role in modern medicine, exploring its potential benefits and serious risks. Discover why Desoxyn is used as a last resort in severe cases of ADHD and obesity and why its high abuse potential makes it heavily regulated.
This comprehensive video delves into Desoxyn's mechanism of action, dosage, and treatment protocols. Dr Rege also discusses why this drug is rarely prescribed, even though it offers hope to those with treatment-resistant ADHD and obesity. The discussion expands to explore how methamphetamine's unique ability to temporarily open the blood-brain barrier could pave the way for innovative cancer treatments, such as chronic myeloid leukaemia and glioblastoma.
Join us to learn about the controversial world of prescription methamphetamine, its risks, and its groundbreaking medical possibilities. Don't forget to subscribe for more videos on neuroscience and psychiatry, and share your thoughts in the comments below.

I have used and been addicted to drugs for about 24 years. First pain killers, then cocaine then crack then meth. Since i was a tiny kid i never felt right. I am always super depressed and really uninterested in anything. Dont really want to be around people or leave the house. Feel super tired all the time and can sleep for 24 hrs like its nothing... I have used drugs because they make me feel normal and make other people like me. When im sober everyone thinks something is wrong with me but when i am high everyone finds me normal and likeable. I really dont get high for fun but really to keep living... The problem is all the side effects and the on and off supply, purity and reactions i have to things. But now approaching 40 i really just want to find out what is wrong with me and maybe find a treatment so i can live a half way normal life. If not and i have to feel and exist like this than i do not want to keep going. Every day is torture practically.

@@RobertKrouse-nf4we i hear you. I just can't get through to a point where I feel anywhere close to bearing it. I've gone 1 year and was sort of doing ok. But the minute I went back to work the stress of it made me turn back to using. Right now I am working 6 nights a week and I have gone about the last week and a half without anything. It's terrible. I'm laying in bed right now tossing and turning. Just want this nightmare to end! I live in a very rural area and don't have access to hardly anything. Let alone people that understand I'm not some sort of demonic piece of garbage. I don't lie, cheat or steal and I work full time manual labor factory jobs... I do the best I can. Exact replication of my life story.. keep positive, there are people who understand fully, don’t get discouraged by those in your life that can’t grasp the perspective difference enough to be able to empathize or see between the hazy lines of ‘’addiction’’ and the factual differences between being unbalanced and when we feel ‘’normal’ under this substances effects. The stigmas we face are unfortunately our own doing due to the usual thing we have in common and that’s the years of abusing substances trying to find the fill to that hole that makes us feel not normal. Our loved ones get programmed to seeing the ‘’addict’’ self we often have been to and around them that the idea of this substance can be used medicinally if the patient is in the stage of life and self awareness to be able,to manage the self control. I can see from their shoes why it is so hard . Years of being a liar, or manipulator caused by the drive to feel at base level ‘’normal’’ vs the sincere post the stereotypical recreation stage of life. Some people never grow out of the recreation, some never meant to and some like myself and what sounds like you do and have. I don’t use to get high either. My dosage is roughly and no more than $1.00 a day or roughly a 1/10th gram a day if broken by weight. Because my desire to simply inebriate for the recreational ‘’high’’ for fun is phasing out my perceived tolerance I don’t even really notice. I’m no longer chasing to feel but using to maintain the lowest perceived feeling of normal. I try to maintain acclimation and I typically only feel a high is during a lapse of use such as few days without using for whatever reason. If the supply was/is steady I can maintain the acclimation, get/maintain a schedule where I actually eat , sleep and am able to keep up with my responsibilities to self like working ect. Unfortunately and where I’m going to leave this is remember the perspective of your loved ones and the ‘’I’m assuming like mine’’ years of recreational addiction they had to witness and live to love you through. Be patient and if you are sincere I bet on a prayer maybe you could prove with time and action. It’s hard to undo the things they’ve been programmed ‘’by us’’ to believe about meth as not only a substance people can abuse but also a chemical one if with respect and responsibility can be medicated to the inner personal perception of our personal belief of our own base line balance , whatever that is to you , only you could know where you feel normal, your task now is to teach them what that/ where that is. Good luck. -similarthoughtbox

@@PsychiatrySimplified important question..... Desoxyn and Adderall are banned in Australia as a premade pharmaceutical branded product in their own packaging, but "can they" be prescribed and made to order in a "compounding pharmacy" if the patient's ADHD warrants the prescription ? or are they totally banned outright? As in Australia, many medications are banned from being prescribed as pharmaceutical branded products BUT are still available if it is prescribed by a specialist as usually an off-label prescription and made in a compounding pharmacy to order.

I could just about write that myself, I have never been real comfortable in my own skin, I have been in counseling for the last three years, and what we discovered is I had many instances of childhood trauma. Getting a doctor to prescribe any kind of stimulants is tough. If I microdose once or twice a day (3 rips on a bubbler) I feel more “normal” and go about my day just fine. I don’t want to get high from it, I just want to be ok. I recently stopped using, and it’s fine until I have an attack and I get so wound up inside, I can’t stand it and the only thing I know that immediately relieves is the shit in that glass pipe that we all hate. I’m 64, trust me it just keeps going. Hang in there man, you’re not alone. I love it being out of my system, until I can’t stand it being out of my system. To an addict, that all made sense, to a normy, probably not so much 😊 Remember always, suicide is not an option, call someone

Yes it started to feel normal around others that would make fun about how I spoke,how I sounded when I spoke…it started in 7 th grade p.E.class where the teacher called me slow -mo.and would moation his arms at me .,then the other kids would start in….in high school it got worse they even had a dress up day ,to dress like me for that day…. I hated it ,,then one day going to class I was stoped by some students and they stoped me laughed in my face doing the slow mo thing then they said why are your eyes so red ,you look so wasted ..I just out of the pool from swimming laps before classes ,I was on the swim team all four years .,. And then when ever my moms sister would visit she would say to me ,your on drugs ,yes you are I can tell… I didn’t do drug until I got so fed up with her causing me of being on them when I wasn’t. After awhile I said fuck this is driving me crazy ,I guess I’ll do the stupid drugs ,after I started she really never said that to as much…..to day I look back knowing what I know today would have controlled myself better but other problems out of my control came into play and I just through everything my family wanted to hear me told me just go away you amount to nothing,you’ll be nothing your dreamer when you going to grow up and hang up your surfboard and get areal job and make something of your self….? I got married to my beautiful wife Jeanne and talked to me and told me just because you used drugs doesn’t make you a bad person you know right from wrong ,your a fabulous husband and I’m so sorry you had Togo through this…I love you for you your an angle sent from heaven oh yes you are.

That's why I'm writing my book "Getting high n saving lives!" To show how God has used me to help others and my drug use has put me in the places I needed to be! Like the night I ran out of gas after just picking up in front of a house of a guy I only met the week prior. He was on the brink of committing suicide. Had I not had the courage to knock on his door cuz of the squatters on his property discouraging me hard he would have succeeded. Instead I was able to show him how to regain his life....i ran into the guy who introduced me at a park years later...and he had been told what i did! I want to somehow relax the stigmatized feelings n stereo types against people who get high.. I have severe medical issues that caused me extreme pain..pain meds don't help just need higher doses...but if I ingest a lil meth once a day I get up I get stuff done and I don't focus on my pain and want to kill myself cuz I can't deal with the pain n depression that follows...I've been doing this for 25 years n I have a very sharp brain..I'm 60 n look 50 tops..I only have intelligent conversations.!

Ive been saying for years that meth should be more studied for medicinal use. I believe we are all made so differently that it affects each person differently according to how their body metabolizes chemicals, vitamins, nutrition, fats, etc. What i am trying to say is for example, we all have that one friend who can eat cake all day and not get fat and the other friend who eats one piece and gains 5 lbs. Ive watched a group of people smoke thr same stuff out of the same pipe and each one act so differently from the person next to them. Some "tweak", some "geek", and some actually relax and act "normal". Not all meth addicts are out there stealing, dealing, squealing. Some have full time jobs and are very productive people. Nice, generous, intelligent. Without it, they cant get out of bed, very anti social, depressed, suicidal. Now with street meth, you dont know what you are getting. Especially with fentinynal being mixed in. Its a roll of the dice. I believe this definitely should be more looked into, more studied, and more prescribed.

I was prescribed this in the 90s. I was that good at fishing for drugs. The generic literally says Methamphetamine on the bottle and the only one who would order it for me was Kroger as it was that rare. I found it to be a lot better and have less side effects than regular Adderall or Ritalin. I am not sure if I had ADD as I bombed the test on purpose (it's a computer response test that has you push a button when a box inside of another box on the screen is at the top, it registers early presses as well as late, wrong or missed presses and looks like the delay). Kroger ordered it for me as the had 10 pills in stock from filling some other prescriptions at some times and since they had some stock it allowed it to be reordered or I truly feel I would have never got it .

I could honestly sleep an hour after taking one, it's difficult to describe how different it was compared to expectations. I'm not advising anybody to use it, or fish for it, it is not a miracle drug, but my experience with it helped me to get out of staring into the abyss - and for that reason I dont judge peope for their medical regimen. A lot of people here saying methamphetamine is sold OTC in Vicks inhaler’s but that’s not fully true. There are two versions or isomers of methamphetamine. The one in Vicks inhalers only affects the PNS system not the CNS. So essentially they just act on noradrenaline with little activity on dopamine. If you want an OTC inhaler that acts like methamphetamine then look into benzedrex. The drug is called propylhexedrine aka hexahydomethamphetamine.

I think there's a lot we don't know, or that hasn't been made public about this. Although I don't use myself, I have a good friend I've known most of my life, who has been using for thirty years. He is highly functioning, has a business and is well liked in his community. Never been in trouble. He says there's probably a million others just like him that fly under the radar. What amazes me is he never gets sick, seriously! Far as I know, he hasn't been to doctor in 20 years. Could there be some immune system benefits, or bolstering of some processes that promote health? I believe the negative side effects are over emphasized to discourage use, but its causing more damage from the placebo/ nocebo effect, and people go into it expecting all these bad outcomes.
@facelessstrings
@facelessstrings 20 күн бұрын
No it definitely damages your immunity to an extent but I think that's more if you're doing heavy heavy dosages if you do more regulated dosages and smaller ones you'd probably be okay! Only speaking from experience I used meth for 5 years only but I also got heavily addicted and couldnt put it down unfortunately but man I did it more and more and more to the point I got super sick. Tried to do it a few times after that but every time I get extremely sick (sores, digestive problems , and last time I couldn't even walk after two weeks !! But idk if it's because I have underlying health complications or what tbh.

Well that is absolutely intriguing and very interesting. I have had people tell me where this actually did exist and for some purposes but just didn't make sense to me was something of this caliber could ever be FDA approved. Now that I have the opportunity to listen to you and hear how the whole thing works it makes a great deal of sense. I got to say thank you for this video that you did cuz now it completely makes sense, now I don't have to look at these people as bullsh*ters and /or crazy as it seams like thay didn't know what they're talking about, though I now know that they kind of did. Although they hadn't really know the whole purpose to it, as you do, it is very very intriguing on how the whole situation about the drug and how it works, and the future possibilities of taking on certain problems and most of all, certain cancers sounds fantastic I can only hope that it is so true on being able to take on certain cancers or any cancer for that matter anything that can take out cancer is a fantastic thing. Thank you again for the greatly informidable and very truthful straight up honest to the point video. Have an AWESOME YEAR. Thank you very much for sharing your complete research and knowledge and the true straight up honesty on it. You are definitely a gentleman and absolute scholar. Many thanks. Highly recommendable channel for professional quality factual unbiased interesting educational & entertaining content,unfortunately the reason there's massive illegal drug consumption & addiction is our governments do very little to provide educational anti illegal drug information for youths that would be very helpful to reduce the use of illegal drugs,the lack of focus on rehabilitation,detox centres to help individuals to overcome the very powerful processes of addiction that keep many chained to the habit,if there was more willingness to produce informative detailed research & information by the government there would be a drastic reduction to illegal drug use

I hope one day we treat all drugs similarly to alcohol. For multiple reasons. Freedom. Safe supply because regulated, legal drugs won't be cut with shit and the dosage will be known and consistent. Also, alcohol is easily one of the worst drugs there is, it's stupid for it to be illegal and anything else not to be. Weed is getting there, legal in multiple countries snd states, and thank Christ it's about time, that one had NO excuse for being banned. But I maintain we should legalize all drugs. I do think having a short, mandatory class of some sort to obtain a "license" for a particular type of drug would be wise though. I mean like a 30-60 minute education on the drug(s) in question, covering everything from dosage, effects, safety tips, tolerance, addiction potential, dependence and withdrawals. Do that for alcohol, get your card, buy as you please. Another one for opiates. Benzos. Stimulants. Probably even weed would be a good idea. The card would be shown before making a purchase at a dispensary for whatever drug. It's an indication that the buyer is informed about what they're putting in their body. I think the drug war is not only an abject failure, but outright fucking stupid. Especially when alcohol is legal. What the fuck

I’d suggest getting blood work done to determine if you have a metabolic issue as far as the Amphetamine tolerance. A Peak & Trough blood test will confirm exactly your body metabolizes the medication. I wouldn’t suggest taking more of anything without knowing wtf is going on within your body. Metabolism changes as we age so a blood work up including a CBC(complete blood count), a Comprehensive metabolic panel & the Peak & Trough will answer those questions. Tolerance is one thing and can be addressed easily with dose restrictions. Metabolic changes are another issue all together and may require a change in medication, in dosage prescribed or any number of things..

I mean, cmon, everyone knows that treating obesity and weight loss by being stimulated is the wrong way to go about it because once you stop taking it the Hunger comes back with rage! Not only that but because the feel good effects are no longer there youll eat more to "feel good" in general. Meth shouldnt be approved for weight loss at all.

I think it would be a good idea to require physicians to experience addiction and overcoming that addiction before they are allowed to prescribe that drug to any patients if it is classified as an addictive drug. For sure would make them think on another level before prescribing them willy nilly without much concern about the addictive side of the coin. You can study addiction in med school but will never understand it without experiencing it yourself

In one way yes - as doctors its difficult to experience the true extent of it and hence we try to learn through patients but yes it won’t be the same

What would your opinion on using this to aid someone in the quitting of using illicit street crystal methamphetamine be, for someone who has absolutly no history of abuse with prescription drugs?

It’s not been studied but I believe that it could be used like a maintenance medication like methadone is used for opioid use disorder maybe desoxyn would like used for methamphetamine use disorder. I think it has good potential to be used for methamphetamine addiction. This is just my opinion.

Its quite possible but studies are needed before it is considered. Lisdexamphetamine has been studied for this purpose with some benefit.

@@Gemini_blue I totally agree,it would be very beneficial to help to reduce the unpleasant experience when detoxifying,to have a reduced dose to maintain energy levels to function daily would reduce high failure rates with addiction

When you have been diagnosed with addiction, you can forget getting medicine like this to make your life more manageable. I've never been addicted to any drug , have just been self medicating my entire life with alcohol then marijuana and then meth. I diagnosed myself with ADD because being on meth made me feel calm, helped immensely with my road rage, I just quit my psychiatrist because he is a DM 5 dumbass like every other mental. health doctor . Guess I'll stay home in bed until I've had enough of this misery and blowy brains out.

All forms of ADHD medicine is a form of methamphetamine. I don’t care what people say. My kids were on many different kind. I did take them off of it because of the effects I should be on something but because it has a tendency to become addictive or anything I just deal with it and let people think I’m weird

This is just legitimately false. Methylphenidate is not an amphetamine whatsoever and it is prescribed for ADHD. Amphetamine itself also has many differences from methamphetamine.

If the side effects are activating side effects r.g anxiety, insomnia then consideration of agents such as clonidine can make a difference. See the videos on ADHD is not all stimulants and videos on clonidine and Guanfacine
