One thing no youtuber mentioned when I moved from GTA is how lonely and quiet Calgary is. Apart from NE and downtown, rest of Calgary seems like a country even though it's not. I do delivery jobs in the evening and trust me when I say this. In 4 hours, i don't even see 40 people in total.

With all honesty, as a person who lived in Calgary, Kelowna and Vancouver - jobs situation has been improving with diversification, agree that it’s still not comparable with Vancouver and Toronto. Yes Calgary is dry, don’t quiet agree with drivability or extreme cold - I feel these are common in other places too. I don’t also agree with the need for having other cities close by. In fact, it’s actually good that Calgary entirely is as a city and it’s quiet large. Food options are limited as population is exponentially less, if you compare per capita - it’s quiet diverse. Agree with closing of stores early. Me being a pahaad person, I’m cool with Calgary, but agree with your point about not having beaches. There are some lakeside beaches like slave lake but not too many options. Agree we are trying to help others with negative points in Calgary - good video nevertheless, just sharing my views.

Calgary metropolitan area has 1.5 million people: 1) Jobs: Almost all of Canada’s oil and gas companies have headquarters in Calgary. IT is growing quickly here. Amazon is opening first cloud computing hub in Calgary for western Canada. Infosys is going to open its Canadian headquarters in Calgary soon. 2. Calgary’s average high temperature in winters is 0 degrees Celsius which is same as Toronto. Calgary gets same amount of snow as Toronto. Calgary gets warm chinook winds in winter which frequently turn temperature to plus five to eight nine degrees. Yes, Calgary weather is dry but that’s why you won’t feel as much cold in winters and not as much hot and humid like Toronto. 3. Calgary has lot of warehouses and distribution centers, thanks to its unique central location in western Canada. 4. Calgary has diverse population with over 35% people of color. Food options are as good as any other metropolitan city. In fact Calgary has more than 5900 restaurants operating. 5. Yes, Toronto has beaches on Great Lakes but Calgary is so close to beautiful hundreds of kilometers mountains and national parks.

1- Limited Job opportunities compare to big cities like GTA, But you can get remote jobs as well. 2- Weather is dry, Temperature is largely unpredictable and Winter is cold with heavy snowfall. 3- No big city around Calgary unlike GTA 4- Less diversity and less food choices 5- Limited availability of service, everything closes around 10 pm. No cabs or food at later hours. 6- Mountaious landscape, no beaches near by.

Bro your video is totally focussed towards job related in IT and Finance which are abundance in Ontario. In contrast, Calgary and Edmonton also offers various different types of jobs in sectors like Oil, tourism, etc. If you consider jobs to population ratio , and affordability ,Calgary is best in Canada in big cities. Here you don’t need jobs like 150 k to buy a house, 90, 100 k family income is enough, where in Toronto and Vancouver, even 200 k is not enough to buy a house. Maybe you can just afford a condo there. Some of your videos have lot of research but this one has lot of misinformation.

I normally don’t comment on KZbinr’s videos but your video made me give my point of view as a Calgarian all my life. You have portrayed Calgary in a very negative way after spending a very little time here. This is the most peaceful place you can live in. You don’t have to work 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet like in Toronto and Vancouver. Housing is affordable here. Yes we do go through Winter months here but life goes on once you get used to the few months of Winter weather. I have seen the traffic in Toronto. In Vancouver you will have rain every time and the cold you feel there is worse than in Calgary. The quality time to spend with your family is lacking in most cases in both big cities cause the need to work 2 plus jobs to pay for everything to survive becomes essential. I can go on and on..............

The harsh cold winter too will not help and will only aggravate gloominess and depression. I am not sure of the US due to the Visa situation but I suggest you move to Toronto instead, lots of opportunities there. Other than housing, all other expenses are almost the same if you see after you add taxes.

Edmonton is the metropolitan city where you save the maximum. Rent and houses will be well within your budget and weather is not as dry as Calgary and doesn't fluctuate as drastically as in Calgary. Am I right that I Heard only about Infosys from India and that too they haven't yet setup anything and will be slow and nobody coming from India to Infosys office ..nobody else .. and moreover what about the option of universities there and for mature people anyways there is no option for Calgary and specially not as a student plus the cold plus all big cities are far away ! Plus you need programing and tech skills else there is no other chance for other jobs

Guess, i'll chime in as well. I don't believe there is dearth of jobs in Calgary or Edmonton. On the contrary they are higher paying than GTA but you need to know what pays and it does need some skills. Another misconception is Alberta does not have warehouses. That's not true either. I think Calgary is a major hub for Amazon. Also, since majority of manufacturing happens elsewhere Calgary and Edmonton are primarily warehouses for distributing these items. Lets try another way to look at this: Total number of jobs in GTA is definitely more then Edmonton or Calgary however so are number of aspirants, specially the ones who are in dire need. It is interesting for me to see some of these channels as i tells me a bit about what our younger generation is facing. I have empathy for them however i would like to reiterate two thing, first of which Gursahib has said a few time in this earlier episodes: You are a student first and everything else later. If you don't do justice to the school part then you are falling short of what you started out to achieve. If you somehow got the PR but did not get any real skill in school you are going to have a hard time afterwards. Secondly, and unfortunately not many talk of this is the course work kids select. Do some research on what is in need and try to get into in demand professions. There are many skills trades that pay very very well. Hope you all get what you long for. All the best!

I am calgary resident since one year, i would say it is the most over rated city in canda it is very dark during night because there are not many street lights on the roads even though if they are located their half of them are broken plus city staff does not clean up snow most of the times that is the reason i am leaving this city permanently.

I think that Calgary has higher wages and jobs should never be issued. I have been to Calgary and know friends staying there for a very long time. In fact, due to high demand in Toronto people are really not valuing resources there so wages are comparatively less than in Calgary. And regarding the role options that you had told me in your interview, I think as a recruiter if only the person is staying in that city you will get to know about opportunities. Let's face the facts that people are facing many issues regarding jobs in Toronto.

So typical Ontario point of view. The guy keeps talking about Calgary and the rest of Canada (which includes Toronto, London, Montreal) you need to wake up. People who live in western Canada are very used to these weather changes. You should focus on Western Canada vs Eastern Canada. These weather changes are normal in BC like Vancouver, Surrey, Kelowna. Get out of the mindset that Toronto is the center of Canada. Calgary is a great place for jobs, raise a family and have a more comfortable life than Ontario.
