Odd that someone like Roger would see capitalist democracy as one system. In many ways, Roger answered his own question. The answer, Roger, is that capitalism and democracy are actually two separate and distinct systems. The latter is often indistinguishable from the former to the Rogers of the world. The inabiliy to understand this distinction is the primary reason why capitalists cannot be relied upon to address questions of democratic process. It is simply a lens that knows nothing but capitalist bias. Better questions? What is democracy? Do we have democracy in western, developed nations? What effect has/does capitalism have on democracy? What kind of effect does capitalism have on human organizational behaviour? On human ecosystems? How does capitalism benefit democracy? The corporate group think of 'where can I win' does not address these questions or at least is not conextually equipped to answer these questions. It is the same reason why I do not allow a plumber to upgrade the electrical panel in my house. Of course, at least the plumber knows he is a plumber and not an electrician.

As soon as someone says 'capitalism' they suggest an acceptance of Marxist analysis. We do not have a 'capitalist' system. We have a free market system. That is underpinned by various forms of collective government (constitutional monarchy, representative republic), which in the Western tradition underpin property rights, equality before the law and protection of the less powerful from the more powerful. None of these are done without imperfection, of course, but without property rights and equality before the law (and one hopes, equal access to that law) there can be no free market, no production of wealth and no guard against tyranny.
