Great, practical video, really helpful. Thanks so much for putting it together. Question! How's it going with the Bellwether roaster this far along?

Very helpful video! We are just about to pull the trigger on a Bellwether Series 2. Have you seen your margins improve? Able to attract new customers with your own freshly roasted coffee? Any reason you didn't go with a traditional gas roaster? Thanks in advance!

I'm so glad I found this, great video! I am considering starting an e-commerce coffee company/possibly a coffee truck company. I genuinely love coffee and am looking for a side business that has the potential to become my full-time business. Before I really learned anything about the industry (essentially daydreaming) I imagined importing, roasting, packaging, and selling all in one. After just a little research, I realized that was unrealistic. I am still interested in roasting and selling coffee though and loved your setup. That's how I imagine myself making it work. Is space/ventilation requirements the same as a traditional industrial roaster or is there more leeway with regulations with this machine? Also, would you recommend this machine to someone looking to get into the industry? I was personally put off by the idea of private label because it seemed so impersonal. As a Native American, my community would be my first customers and I don't like the idea of not being hands-on with the roasting. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Great to get into the industry as you don't need a lot of experience with roasting ...the recipes are done for you. Space is minimal and ventilation is not required like a traditional roaster, just the electrical and internet.

How many times can we run in a day or max output? If our shop open from 6am-6pm? And do we have to wait 48 hours before we use the fresh out of roasted coffee from the roaster for cafe consumers? Thank you for your time.

You can roast back to back pretty much all day. Usually 2-3 per hour. And yes best to wait for the degassing

This was an AWESOME video! Do they also offer Arabica coffee beans for purchase as well? Or are they only offering green coffee beans? My company specializes in selling gourmet flavored coffee.

Looks nice. My main concern on roasters that are very high tech is when they break how long does it take to get fixed.

We are fortunate in that we have an onsite tech that Bellwether trained who actually installs these now in the Toronto area so repairs are pretty quick. It would depend on the region I suppose and probably a question for Bellwether directly.

Old Video, New Comment, Hope yall don't mind. 1st, Love the Back to the Future theme. 2nd, Have yall updated to the Bellweather Series 2 since the video was created? And if so, how is it different in your experience? 3rd, how many different Green Beans did you source to setup the profiles in this video and what changes have you made over the years? Thanks.

Hi! Great questions, we don't have the Bellwether Series 2, and we started out with 3 espresso blends, and 9 medium and dark roasts! We use 8 different green beans to make all of our coffees :)

Hi guys, thanks for the video. I’m wondering how long the roast time is for a light, medium, dark, and French Roast is on the Bellwether and how long you have to wait in between batches. Also, how long do you have to wait for it to cool before bagging it? Thanks a million!!
@ecscoffeeinc
@ecscoffeeinc 3 жыл бұрын
Roughly 12 minute roast time, dependent. You do not get great dark dark roasts out of the unit, at least we have not. Between batches is a few minutes, we can do 4-5 an hour. There is a cooling process, we can bag right away, our bags have valves but we typically let them sit for a couple of hours and recommend our customers wait 48 hours before use.

What do mean by not getting a good dark roast? How does it turn out and how is it different than you want? Is there an inherent flaw in the design?? That would surprise me but I’d really like to hear your ideas why you can’t get a good dark roast from it. This is a big deal if it’s is a universal issue for others as well. Did Bellwether have any thoughts on this? Very concerning

@@Evanelkgrove We have not roasted too dark as most of what we sell in equipment requires medium to dark roasts (espresso) so the beans don't end up to oily. We find it challenging to get the roast dark in the time frame we want. Bellwether can answer better.
